Chapter 827
"Has that woman gone back?" Joseph moaned and sat down next to Lucas. "Lucas, are you going to continue putting up with Sarah like this? I didn't have much of an impression of Sarah before. But after tonight, I found out she's really not that great, not worthy of you."
"Some things just can't be helped," Lucas answered and took a sip of his drink, his eyes deep. "What about you? Are you really going to get back together with Cassie?"
"Yes." Joseph's mood was still good tonight. Of course, it might have been better if he hadn't run into Sarah halfway.
Lucas looked at Joseph with concern, suggesting. "Have you ever thought about whether Cassie genuinely wants to be with you, or... is she seeking revenge on you?"
Pleasant Joseph suddenly froze, putting down his glass. A sharp expression appeared on his face.
If it were someone else, he might have been afraid. However, Lucas had known Joseph since they were young and understood Joseph's character. He continued calmly, "Think about all the things you did to Cassie for Megan in the past. You confined her, pressured her to divorce, caused her to lose her child and sent her to a mental hospital. Do you think she can completely let go of it and not hold any grudges?"
With each thing Lucas mentioned, Joseph twitched his eyelid. It felt like a whip was lashing at his chest.
If Lucas hadn't brought it up, Joseph wouldn't have dared to recall all the harm he had done to Cassie.
"Do you suspect that Cassie wants to retaliate against me?" After a long pause, Joseph asked in a hoarse voice.
"It's possible." Lucas agreed and patted Joseph's shoulder. "I'm just reminding you not to get too involved. In case you find out later that Cassie is just playing with you, or she has other ways to retaliate against you."
The glass in Joseph's hand suddenly shattered, and the bright blood mixed with the wine flowed out. Joseph's handsome face turned cold.
Joseph insisted, "It's impossible! I can feel her love. I didn't love Cassie before. That's why I went too far. But now that I love her, I will give her the best of me wholeheartedly."
"Alright. If that's how you see it, I can't do anything about it. I've said what needed to be said." Lucas sighed.
At the sight of Joseph's expression, Lucas handed him a tissue and continued, "Why do you and Michael always end up like this over women? It's unnecessary. Luckily, I'm not like you guys."
"I wonder who was that night grabbed us and drank all night when Nina was meeting other men behind your back," Joseph mocked coldly.
"Don't mention Nina to me," Lucas retorted, with a deep disgust flashing in his eyes.
"Fine. Since Nina is dead, there's no point in bringing her up," Joseph answered. He took the tissue and wiped the blood off his hands. "Have you heard about Michael? How is he doing now?"
"The SKITTL acquisition failed, which was a blow to Michael. But we don't know much about the cosmetics industry, so we can't help much." Lucas sighed. "In my opinion, he might as well just go ahead and marry according to Eric's arrangement. But he's unwilling, probably because he wants to marry Megan."
"I can't compare to Michael when it comes to feelings for Megan," Joseph remarked.
After saying that, Joseph got up. "I'm going back."
After getting in the car, Joseph leaned back in his seat.
He thought, ‘Would Cassie retaliate against him? Was it possible?’
The next day.
Joseph brought breakfast early. When Cassie came to open the door, she was still wearing a light pink silk nightgown and looked sleepy.
"Joseph, it's only seven in the morning. Why are you here so early?" Cassie asked confusedly.
"Not early. I've been up since six," Joseph answered softly and then glanced at Cassie's chest. Throbbing his temples, Joseph immediately walked in and closed the door.
Joseph didn't want other people to see Cassie not wearing anything inside.
But it was too tempting for a young man like Joseph early in the morning.
"Go change quickly. Don't test my patience," Joseph then added.
He finished speaking and turned his face away, looking elsewhere.
