Chapter 474

Feeling slighted by the morning's antics, Cassie found herself driving to a diner Laura had once suggested. As she was about to indulge in her breakfast, Luna and Felix sauntered in, arm in arm. The eager manager trailed behind them, his voice brimming with excitement. "Luna, Felix, you're here early! We have plenty of spots available, where would you like to sit?"

Luna's gaze swept across the room, finally landing on Cassie. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she immediately tugged Felix in Cassie's direction.

"Well, if it isn't the esteemed Joseph's wife. Why are you dining alone, Cassie? Where is your doting husband Joseph?" Luna's eyes darted around the room, her curiosity piqued.

A frown creased Cassie's forehead.

All she desired was a peaceful breakfast, but Luna and Felix were proving to be a significant nuisance.

The manager, Lucien, began to panic, "Viv, I apologize for... I..."

"Lucien, it's fine," Felix interjected with a meaningful smirk. "I doubt Viv will be occupying that spot for much longer. From what I've heard, Mr. Hernandez has evicted Miss Brooks. Just the other day, she was desperately house hunting."

Lucien's expression shifted as he looked at Cassie, his gaze now filled with scorn instead of respect.

"Luna, you are surprisingly well-informed," Cassie retorted, wiping her mouth and fixing her piercing gaze on Felix. "You're even more up-to-date than the media. Don't tell me you've got spies outside the house?"

Felix snorted, "Everyone knows Joseph recently had a nurse, who bears a striking resemblance to his ex, taking care of him."

"You're such a joke," Luna responded, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "It's only Megan Ray and Joseph. Look at yourself, all freakish, and you think you can take Viv's place? But I should thank you. If you hadn't snatched Joseph away, I might never have had the chance to meet my dear Felix, who truly cherishes me."

Felix proudly ran his fingers through Luna's hair, a gesture he wouldn't have considered before. But now, with Leo Chapman out of the picture and Luna being the heir to Leo's Group, he couldn't be happier. A merger between Leo & Chamberlain was imminent, leaving Joseph out in the cold.

"Lucien," Luna pointed at Cassie's table by the window. "I think that spot's quite nice."

From his high horse, Felix commanded, "She can just roll over to another table."
Without another word, Lucien motioned to the server to move Cassie’s belongings to a table in the corner. “Miss Brooks, please dine over there.”

“You guys really are something…” Cassie shook her head with an air of resignation and stood up.

Luna taunted her with a triumphant grin, “See, Cassie, you’ll never outshine me. I’m the current VP of Leo’s Group, and next week, Felix and I will tie the knot. With our combined influence in Madison, I could pretty much strut around without anyone batting an eye.”

“Oh wow, congratulations,” Cassie drawled with a side glance. “But then again, with dad on his deathbed, how can you even think about getting married?”

“Luna’s just trying to lift Uncle Ye’s spirits with some good news,” Felix cut in hastily.

“Sounds like you care so much about dad,” Cassie said sarcastically, “though I haven’t seen you visit him since he slipped into a coma. How filial of you.”

“That’s none of your business whether I visit or not.” Luna scoffed, “And as for you, you think you've got some power taking care of dad, so what? The Leo’s Group is mine, everything dad has is mine—all of it has nothing to do with you. Heard that Doctor Angelino passed away too, with him gone no one can wake dad up. Enjoy keeping vigil by his body for eternity.”

“From your tone, seems like you’re not the least bit sad about Doctor Angelino’s passing or dad’s condition,” Cassie remarked, her eyebrows arching knowingly.

Luna’s patience was wearing thin, her throat tightening. “Can you just leave already and not ruin our breakfast?”

“Hope you can keep up this arrogance,” Cassie responded coolly. She pulled out a few bills and tossed them on the table. “You can have the table, but next time... it won’t be yours.”

With that, she grabbed her bag and left.

Luna scoffed, “Next time, she talks a big game.”

After a brief pause, she turned to Felix, “You mentioned Joseph has been seen with a woman who looks a lot like his ex. Is that true?”
