Chapter 1057 This Time, Thanks to Joseph

It was not long before Spencer left when Cassie received a call from David. "Cassie, I got off work early today. Let's pick up Oliver together. I haven't spent time with Sophia and Oliver in a while. After dinner, let's take them to the amusement park."

Cassie felt a chill, thinking, 'David just had sex with Lola, and now he's trying to please me. He is so hypocritical.'

She said, "David, I am sorry. Joseph took Sophia and Oliver back to the Hernandez family."

"Cassie, are you trying to have them return to the Hernandez family?" David said, a bit disappointed, "Why? Joseph hasn't done anything for them."

"Sophia and Oliver want to. I can't stop them." Cassie sighed deliberately.

"Then let's just go see a movie," David said enthusiastically, thinking that since Cassie had brought him milk tea today, she might want to work on their marriage.

"Okay." Cassie nodded.

On the other end, David hung up the phone and sneered. Moments later, he called Wyatt, "Give Joseph a lesson on his way back from picking up Sophia and Oliver from preschool today."

He cursed inwardly, 'Joseph is lucky as he survived the last elevator accident. Since that's the case, let Joseph lose the most important thing to him. Let me see if he dares to mess with Cassie again. He should pay the price. Sophia and Oliver, I have been pleasing you for so many years, but you still prefer Joseph. So don't blame me.'

At five in the afternoon, Joseph picked up Sophia and Oliver and headed back to the Hernandez family.

On the way, Sophia saw a cake shop outside and clamored to buy a cake. "Daddy, I want a strawberry cake. The cake of that shop is delicious. Mommy bought it for me before."

"No, we can't park here," Joseph said helplessly.

"I don't care. I just want it." Sophia pouted and started crying.

Joseph had to make a quick emergency stop by the roadside.

As he got out of the car, he instructed, "We can't stay here long. It's too much trouble to take you both down. Stay in the car. I'll be right back with the cake. Oliver, keep an eye on Sophia."

"Okay." Oliver nodded.

After Joseph got out, he had just reached the cake shop when his phone suddenly beeped. It was an urgent message from Wyatt: [Sophia and Oliver are in danger.]

A deep sense of fear immediately enveloped Joseph. He rushed back to the car and opened the door.

"Daddy, where's the cake?" As Sophia asked, Joseph noticed a black car speeding towards them from behind with no sign of slowing down.

He quickly dragged Sophia and Oliver out. They were terrified and hadn't reacted yet when the car was violently hit and spun several times before crashing into the central barrier, completely wrecked.

Sophia and Oliver were already scared out of their wits. Sophia was crying hysterically, and even though Oliver was usually calm, his face was blanched.

Oliver knew that if Joseph hadn't pulled them out just now, he and Sophia would have died.

Joseph quickly took Sophia and Oliver to hide in the nearby cake shop.

The perpetrator, seeing the situation, immediately abandoned the car and fled.

Joseph didn't chase after him because Sophia and Oliver needed protection. Moreover, with so many witnesses and surveillance, the police would catch the person soon enough.

Soon, the police arrived. Joseph gave his statement while Sophia cried and called Cassie.

"Mommy." Sophia cried.

Cassie was startled by her crying. "Baby, what's wrong?"

"Mommy, it was so scary. A car almost hit us. Oliver and I almost died. Luckily, Daddy pulled us out." Sophia sobbed.

Cassie was terrified. "Where are you? I'm coming right now. Let me talk to your daddy."

"He is talking to the police. We're at the place where you used to buy me cake." Sophia cried even more, making Cassie anxious.

"Don't be afraid, baby. I'm coming right now." Cassie comforted Sophia.

After hanging up, David tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Did something happen to Sophia and Oliver? Where are they? Let's go right now."

"Okay." Cassie, her mind in a mess, gave him the address.

David drove over quickly, but the road was blocked due to the accident. Cassie unbuckled her seatbelt and said, "I'll go by myself."

Without waiting for David's response, she quickly got out of the car and left.

David punched the steering wheel and quickly called Wyatt, "You idiot, why did it fail again?"

"Joseph came out of the cake shop and pulled Sophia and Oliver out," Wyatt said, "He might have seen the car coming."

David cursed, "Damn it! Did you clean up the traces?"

"Don't worry. It's all taken care of," Wyatt replied.

David was still furious. He had wasted another opportunity and a lot of money. He wondered how Joseph could be so lucky.

After running for a while, Cassie saw the horrific scene. The rear of Joseph's car was almost destroyed.

"Mommy." Sophia and Oliver saw her and ran over.

"Mommy, we almost never saw you again," Oliver said softly, "This time, thanks to Joseph."

It was rare for him to praise Joseph. Cassie was genuinely grateful to Joseph this time. If it weren't for him, she might have lost Sophia and Oliver forever.

"Cassie." Joseph walked over, his deep eyes filled with guilt. "I'm sorry for putting Sophia and Oliver through such a terrifying experience."

"What exactly happened?" Cassie thought of Arthur's death when she saw the car accident, asking.

She said to herself inwardly, 'Why another car accident? In less than a month, people around me had frequent car accidents. Is it intentional or a coincidence? Is it aimed at me or Joseph?'

Joseph's lips moved, but with Sophia and Oliver there, he didn't speak directly, just saying, "Let's leave here first. I'll take Sophia and Oliver back, and then I need to go to the police station."

Cassie understood, her heart sinking even more.

The area was congested, and no cars could get through. Joseph picked up Sophia with one hand and Oliver with the other.

Cassie stared at his tall back for a few seconds, then quickly followed.

She even forgot that David was still waiting for her.

It was when she got into Nathaniel's car that she remembered to send David a message, telling him to go back first.

All the way, she comforted Sophia and Oliver. After dropping them off at the Hernandez family, she went to the police station with Joseph.

"Cassie, I'm sorry to tell you that this was an attempted murder." Joseph showed Cassie Wyatt's message on his phone. "I had Wyatt go undercover in the Chamberlain family. If it weren't for his warning, Sophia and Oliver would be dead."
