Chapter 1590 Late-Night Snack

Laura drove out, and Derek had already been waiting for her at the gate of the Presidential Palace.

Under the streetlight, Derek, wearing the suit he bought last time, was chatting with the police officers. Even from the side, he looked exceptionally handsome and distinguished.

Seeing her approach, Derek got into the car openly in front of the police officers.

For the first time, they were going out on a date at eleven at night, and Laura was quite nervous. "Aren't we being too high-profile? We might be suspected."

"What's there to be suspicious about family members going out for a late-night snack?" Derek said while fastening his seatbelt. "Outsiders will just think we have a good relationship. If we act sneaky, it would be more suspicious."

"That's true," Laura glanced at Derek beside her before starting the car. She hadn't seen him for several days. "You've been working late into the night recently, and now you're going out for a late-night snack. Aren't you tired?"

Derek held her small hand and chuckled, "That's the benefit of being with me. I can stay up late and still be full of energy."

"Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're young," Laura couldn't stand his smug look. "Be careful, or you'll have health issues when you get older. By then, I'll abandon you anytime."

"Alright, since you put it that way, I'll have to take care of my health," Derek said seriously.

Laura laughed, then started the car and asked, "Where are we going for the late-night snack?"

Every time they went out to eat, Derek would choose the place. He knew Whisperlyn City better than she did and knew many great spots.

So for their dates, Laura usually followed his arrangements.

Derek thought for a moment and said, "There's a street behind Lakeside Haven with some good late-night snacks."

"Let's go there then." Laura agreed without thinking.

It wasn't until they had driven a bit that she realized Derek usually recommended hidden gems, so why was he suggesting a late-night snack street today?

And the place was coincidently behind his house.

What did he mean by this?

'Is he planning to take me to Lakeside Haven after the snack?' The thought made Laura nervous.

She suddenly felt unbearably hot in the car.

She didn't even notice the red light ahead and drove right through it.

Derek's voice broke the silence, "What are you doing? Didn't you see the red light?"

"Was it a red light?" Laura was startled.

"No car followed us," Derek sighed, "What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing," Laura mumbled, feeling frustrated.

"Be more careful when driving next time. Trucks pass through this road at night," Derek reminded her helplessly.

Laura remained silent.

When they arrived at the snack street, Derek hesitated for a moment, then took off his suit and tie, revealing the blue shirt underneath.

"What are you doing?" Laura asked, puzzled.

Derek pointed to the people drinking and eating outside. "If I go there in a suit, I'll definitely stand out."

"Aren't you cold like this?" Laura wrapped her arms around his neck.

"A little alcohol will warm me up." Derek held her as they got out of the car and went to the small shop.

There were quite a few people outside, and the business was good. The aroma of the food made Laura hungry, especially with the pictures of the snacks on the wall.

When ordering, she looked at the menu and hesitated, "What should we do? I want to eat lobster, crab, grilled fish, and barbecue, but we can't finish it all."

She looked at Derek, who was pouring coffee.

"The lobster here is pretty good. You can order lobster and grilled fish, and a few barbecues should be enough," Derek suggested calmly. "It's better not to eat lobster and crab together; it's bad for the stomach. Moreover, wasting food isn't good. If you really want to eat more, we can come back next time," Derek suggested.

"Alright, let's do as you say," Laura nodded obediently. She enjoyed that Derek always gave her comfortable suggestions.

Although he wasn't short on money, Derek wouldn't indulge her unconditionally in some aspects.

"Two more bottles of beer please," Derek added.

As the snacks were served, Laura peeled a lobster and found it delicious.

She usually liked to have a bit of beer with her late-night snacks when she was with friends.

Her eyes fell on the can of beer by Derek's hand, "Is it good?"

"Want some?" Derek raised an eyebrow and poured her a glass.

"But if we both drink, how will we drive back?" Laura was a bit worried.

"We can have a driver pick us up," Derek replied.

Laura was convinced. After all, a little beer wouldn't get them drunk.

But as they ate more, two cans of beer weren't enough.

Laura thought since they had already started drinking, they might as well get two more bottles of beer.

Derek helped her peel the shrimp and pick out the fish bones.

They had a great time with the late-night snack.

Afterward, Laura wasn't drunk; but she felt a bit excited.

Derek, sitting under the light, looked at her flushed cheeks and moist lips, feeling aroused.

He paid the bill, and as soon as they got into the car and closed the door, he leaned over and kissed her passionately.
