Chapter 1216 Cassie Was Somewhat Special

"No, I don't. I find it easier to avoid any misunderstandings or complications that way," Declan said bluntly.

Cassie had some respect for Declan.

"Mr. Wittelsbach, if you think I'm having an affair with Everett, you're not just insulting me but also underestimating him," Cassie shot back. "Even though this is our first meeting, I can tell you're a smart and composed man. A successful guy like you must have raised a sharp and disciplined son. Everett wouldn't be easily swayed by beauty, especially knowing I'm married with kids."

Declan's handsome face showed a flicker of amusement.

Cassie reminded him of Isabella with her quick wit.

If he insisted Cassie was seducing Everett, it would imply Everett lacked intelligence and character.

"Sharp-tongued, but I've seen many women like you," Declan said coolly.

"Sure, if you were in your twenties, you might find me special. But at your age, you've probably met many women like me," Cassie smiled. "But I'm not here to be memorable. I think we could both benefit from a chat."

"Are you talking about the Hernandez Group?" Declan sneered. "I don't know what Everett told you, but I don't care about them or plan to work with them. Everyone knows they won't last much longer."

"People said that earlier this year, but they bounced back strong," Cassie paused. "Your bank hasn't been doing well in Madison. From what Everett said, he wants to make a mark there. The Hernandez Group is a century-old company, and Joseph is a decisive leader. If they team up with the Wittelsbach family, your bank could see a 20% annual revenue growth in Madison."

Declan sneered. "If he had the connections and resources, he wouldn't be struggling. I can help him, but why should I?"

"Mr. Wittelsbach, you said you could help him, so your connections must be impressive. If you're so powerful, why has your bank in Madison been declining in revenue for the past five years?" Cassie stared him down.

Cassie showed no fear. Her eyes were sharp, cutting through everything.

Declan started to take her seriously. "You seem well-prepared. Did Everett tell you all this?"

"No. I went to the bank this morning, asked for a big loan, and chatted with the manager to get some info," Cassie admitted. "To know yourself and your enemy is key. If I came to negotiate without any knowledge, you'd think I'm either crazy or just a pretty face using my connection with Everett."

Declan raised an eyebrow. "Interesting."

"I'm just showing you there's profit here," Cassie said. "Your business might be great abroad, but not so much in Madison. Madison's a big market. Isn't it a waste?"

"Ms. Brooks, you're quite determined." Declan smirked. "But as you said, my business is good abroad. I'm not too keen on this market. If it weren't for Everett's mom's roots here, I wouldn't have let him develop here."

"Are you not keen, or afraid of failure?" Cassie asked boldly. Declan's gaze turned icy.

She felt a real sense of danger and an oppressive aura.

"You think reverse psychology will work on me?" Declan laughed coldly, leaning in with a malicious tone. "Honestly, if you let Everett sleep with you for one night, I might consider it."

Cassie frowned. "Sorry, I'm here to negotiate. You seem to misunderstand."

"The one misunderstanding is you. You're asking for my help," Declan said flatly.

"Yes, I'm asking for help, but I have my limits. If I lose those, I'm beyond saving." Cassie felt regret but accepted reality. "Since you're unwilling, let's forget it. But I hope you'll reconsider."

She stepped back. "Mr. Wittelsbach, sorry to bother you."

With that, she turned and left.

Declan watched her go, then got into the back seat, thoughtful.

He had to admit, Cassie was special.

Even though the Hernandez Group was struggling, she kept her dignity in negotiations.

Was she playing hard to get, or did she not care much since the Hernandez Group wasn't hers?

On the way, he called Everett. "Get over here."

Everett quickly arrived at the villa.

Today, Isabella had taken Olivia shopping. Declan wanted to inspect the bank, so he didn't go with them. He didn't expect to meet Cassie because of it.

"Dad." Everett saw Declan's expression and knew Cassie had found him.

Before he could say anything, Declan grabbed an apple from the coffee table and threw it at him. "You told your mom's enemy where I was? Bold move."

Everett dodged, startled. "Dad, I didn't mean anything by it. I just wanted you to meet Cassie."

Declan sneered. "You want me to save her. Everett, don't forget how much your mom hates her. She caused your grandma's death."

"Did she really cause my grandma's death? I don't think she's that kind of person," Everett said, gathering courage. "Didn't you meet her today?"
