Chapter 1420 I'll Help You Get Revenge

"I know a great divorce lawyer. I'll go with you."

"No need, just give me the contact info. I need some time alone to clear my head."

After Laura said that, she noticed Cassie looking at her with concern. Laura forced a smile, "Don't worry. I've been through a lot over the years. From getting hurt by Benjamin to being humiliated by Nathan and having to leave Madison, then coming back and becoming the President's Goddaughter. Recently, Ralph tried to stage a coup, and I was under constant surveillance, living cautiously. I almost thought I was going to die, but I made it through. I'm not the same Laura from Silverwood anymore. Besides, I can't afford to fall apart. What would happen to Maeve?"

Laura gritted her teeth, her voice hoarse, "If Michael marries Megan in the future, how could that woman possibly be good to Maeve? I have to take Maeve with me."

"Laura, we'll help you," Cassie said, feeling incredibly sad. "If it comes to it, I'll ask Declan and Isabella for help."

"Cassie, thank you."

For some reason, Cassie's words made Laura feel much more at ease.

At least in Whisperlyn City, Laura wasn't alone.

Laura drove around Whisperlyn City for a while.

Her phone rang multiple times.

It was Michael calling, but Laura didn't answer.

Just seeing his number drained all her energy to keep driving.

Her mind was chaotic, and she desperately needed an outlet.

Laura pulled over to the side of the road.

She walked into a convenience store and bought a pack of cigarettes.

Laura had never smoked before, but she wanted to try it now.

However, as soon as she lit one and took a puff, she choked and tears streamed down her face.

It was unbearable.

Laura had told Cassie that she had been through a lot and had persevered, but she didn't mention how exhausting it was.

Laura used to be the spoiled daughter of the Miller family. How did her life end up like this?

All she wanted was to find a decent guy who loved her and build a life together.

Money wasn't even that important.

Laura just wanted a happy family like her parents had. Why was it so hard?

"Laura, are you crazy? Smoking here all by yourself." Suddenly, a man appeared behind her, snatched the cigarette from her hand, and stomped it out.

Laura didn't move.

Derek helplessly pulled her up, and when he saw the tears on her face, he was stunned.

He had just been passing by to run an errand. He didn't expect to see her squatting by the roadside.

"What happened?" He held her shoulders, remembering what she had asked him to investigate a few days ago. "Did Michael hurt you?"

"Go away, I want to be alone," Laura said, not looking at him.

Right now, Laura really didn't want to see anyone from the Jude Family.

Derek pressed his thin lips together.

In his memory, Laura had always been an optimistic, cheerful woman. Every time she smiled, her eyes sparkled.

He had always liked the light in her eyes.

But now, that light was completely gone.

He was angry at Michael.

"Come on, I'll take you to him. I'll help you get revenge," Derek said, grabbing her hand.

"Let go of me."

Laura struggled for a long time but couldn't break free. She got angry and started crying and yelling, "I told you to let go of me! Why would you take me to him? You're also from the Jude Family. You all pretend to help me, but in reality, you protect him. Otherwise, why did you switch my birth control pills and make me get pregnant to marry him? Michael is awful, so why sacrifice my happiness? You don't understand. I never wanted to be the President's goddaughter."

Derek stopped and looked deeply at Laura.

It was as if Laura suddenly exploded, and her tears fell even more fiercely. "Being a princess sounds great. But everyone knows that the Jude Family gave me this title because Michael didn't want to marry me. Nobody actually respects me behind my back."

"I'd rather have none of this. I just want to be my ordinary self. I'm really fed up with that idiot Michael."

"I wish Michael would just die."

Hatred suddenly filled her eyes.

Derek started to say something but held back.

He just let her cry and then pulled her into his arms.

Derek gently patted the back of her head.

"Alright, I understand everything you said. If you want to cry, cry out loud. If you don't want to be with Michael, then get a divorce."

"Divorce?" Laura almost laughed through her tears. "Do you think the Jude Family will let me divorce so easily? Maybe they'll agree to a divorce, but will they give me the child? I just want my child. I don't need the princess title or anything else. I just want to leave quietly."

"Okay, I'll help you," Derek said.

Laura was stunned. "I don't believe you. You're lying to me."

"Why would I lie to you? You're a princess, after all. A princess has the right to refuse a marriage," Derek said softly.

At that, Laura pushed Derek away. She stared blankly at Derek's elegant face. "What kind of princess am I? No one respects me, and your parents don't like me either. They only made me their Goddaughter for Michael's sake."

"When did my parents not like you? They often say in private that girls like you are rare. Michael is lucky to have you," Derek said, taking out a tissue to gently wipe her tears.

Laura was so taken aback by his words. "You're lying to me."

"I'm not lying. You just always thought my parents made you their goddaughter because of Michael," Derek said indulgently. "Now, can you tell me what happened? I told you before, if you ever needed anything in Whisperlyn City, come to me. I would help you."

"But you're Michael's relative."

"But you're also my relative in name," Derek teased softly.

"I'm just your relative in name," Laura pouted.

Derek's gaze lingered on her slightly pouting lips for a moment. "Well, Michael and I don't have the same parents. Besides, do I look like someone who can't tell right from wrong?"

Laura fell silent.

In fact, she didn't know Derek very well. She always felt that the Jude Family hid their true selves, especially Carl's Family.
