"We got divorced," Michael said quietly. "The paperwork was finalized the day before yesterday, and the divorce decree has been issued."
Caroline gasped, "Megan couldn't have found a man to sleep with right after the divorce. She must have been cheating on you for a long time."
Michael remained silent, which was taken as an admission.
Caroline clutched her chest, feeling the pain from anger.
James was even angrier because he thought of his fifty million dollars. "So, you gave her all the money?"
"How much did you give her?" Caroline asked.
James narrowed his eyes. "You said you gave her eighty million dollars as a divorce settlement. Was it just eighty million dollars, or were there houses and cars involved too?"
Michael remained silent.
He was too ashamed to admit that he had given Megan one hundred million dollars, plus several properties worth millions.
He knew that if he said it, James would probably kill him.
But by not saying anything, he was essentially admitting it. James guessed that he had given more than eighty million dollars in cash, and possibly some unknown properties.
"Michael, are you going to tell me, or should I investigate myself?" James's anger was reaching its limit.
"I gave her one hundred million dollars, plus the villa we're living in now, and another villa and apartment in Austin."
"James, this is making me so angry it hurts," Caroline said, clutching her chest.
James remained silent.
She was in pain, but wasn't he in pain too?
He was even more heartbroken.
Although this amount of money wasn't much for the Jude family, the problem was they got fooled by that woman.
"Dad, Mom, I'm sorry," Michael couldn't hold back anymore. The thirty-something-year-old Michael cried with red eyes. "I'm sorry, I just found out today. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have given Megan anything, and I wouldn't have let it go so easily."
Caroline closed her eyes and gave a bitter smile. "Don't you understand? Megan was playing you from the beginning. You thought she loved you, but she was after your status, your money, and your position. Otherwise, why did she break up with you immediately when we said we would cut ties with you? She said she was acting to help you go further and return to the Jude family, but it was all a lie. Megan broke up with you because she didn't see a future with you. She only came back when you joined the Jude Group and took on big projects.

"Because of that con artist, you ruined the good marriage your dad and I arranged for you. Now, everyone in Whisperlyn City knows that Megan cheated on you during the marriage and played you for a fool."
Every word Caroline said was like a whip lashing at Michael's heart.
In the past, he would have defended Megan.
But now, he thought Caroline might be right.
In the few minutes he spent at the police station, everything he didn't want to think about or face was brought up by Caroline.
He had to find out if Megan had been deceiving him from the start.
Michael clenched his fists tightly, his breathing trembling, his eyes bloodshot.
If it was true, he wouldn't let Megan get away with it.
He would make Megan's life a living hell.
"Pull over," James suddenly ordered.
The driver quickly stopped the car.
James closed his eyes. "Now you know why your mom and I don't want to hand over the company to you, right? Because you're too stupid. You can't even see people clearly. How could I entrust the family's business to you? The Jude family's enterprise, built over generations, would end up in Megan's hands."
Michael's lips moved slightly.
"Don't say anything," James raised his hand. "You lied to me about the eighty million dollars for the divorce. If I handed over the family assets to you, you'd probably give Megan not just one hundred million dollars, but at least a billion dollars."
Michael's handsome face turned red with embarrassment.
In the past, he had been resentful about the Jude Group's inheritance. At this moment, he had nothing to say.
He was so stupid he wanted to kill himself. "Dad, I will definitely get the money back."
"Do you think it's that easy to get back the money you've given away?"

James took a deep breath. "Get out."
Michael saw the cold and unapproachable expressions on James and Caroline's faces.
His heart ached, and he finally lowered his head and got out of the car.
As the door closed, the car sped away.
In the car, Caroline said, "James, those reporters came at just the right time today. I think someone deliberately called them in advance."
"Of course, someone called them in advance. Someone must have known about Megan's infidelity. Today's scene was carefully arranged."
"Who?"
