Chapter 1801 A Chance Encounter

"Let's eat," Nina changed the subject, "I heard the food here is pretty good."

"Alright, if we keep talking, Nina will get embarrassed," Cassie joked.

The three of them chatted and laughed, something they hadn't done in a long time.

In truth, Nina's death had always been a painful memory for Cassie and Laura, a pain that left them feeling deeply powerless every time they thought about it.

"To celebrate Nina being alive, let's go sing later," Laura said happily, "My treat."

"Don't do that, you both need to go back and be with your kids," Nina didn't want to become the target of Joseph and Derek's resentment.

"Nina, we want to spend time with you," Cassie said, holding her wine glass, "You've been alone for so long."

Such a simple sentence almost brought tears to the usually strong Nina's eyes.

After dinner, the three of them walked out of the private room arm in arm.

A few men walked out from the other side.

Nina saw them, her eyes subtly narrowing, then she turned to her friends and said, "Play along with me for a bit."

"What kind of play?" Cassie followed her gaze, "They look pretty good."

Cassie had high standards, and being around someone as handsome as Joseph every day, for her to say someone looked good meant they really did.

"They don't seem as steady as Derek," Laura commented, "Who are they?"

"Gary," Nina's red lips moved slightly.

Gary and his friends quickly noticed Nina and her group, and he was pleased.

A friend next to him nudged him with his shoulder, "Bernice, guess who those two are with her?"

Gary then shifted his gaze to Cassie and Laura. They were indeed stunning, but he had seen them before. The social circle in Whisperlyn City was small, and not only were Cassie and Laura always the center of attention at various events, but they were also making waves in the fashion industry, envied by many socialites.

"Cassie and Laura," someone revealed their identities, "Cassie is Joseph's wife, and her mother is an oil tycoon. The other is Laura, the future wife of the President's son. It's rumored that Bernice is close with these two, and it turns out to be true."

"Gary, aren't you familiar with Bernice? Help introduce us," said Noe Wallace, the future heir of Quantum Dynamics Corporation, who recently needed a favor from Gary.

Noe was from Silvervale and was in Whisperlyn City on a business trip, staying at the Ross family's hotel. Gary had been personally entertaining him with good food and drink these past few days.

"Since Mr. Wallace has asked, I must make it happen."

Gary smiled and greeted Nina, "Bernice, what a coincidence, you're eating here too."

Nina raised an eyebrow.

"Bernice, who are these two?" Gary's gaze fell on Cassie and Laura, feigning confusion as if meeting them for the first time.

"My friends, Cassie and Laura," Nina pretended not to notice, giving a simple introduction.

Before Gary could speak, a few wealthy men had already approached.

"So it's Cassie and Laura," Noe said enthusiastically, "I've heard you two are beauties, and now that I see you in person, you're even more beautiful than I imagined. By the way, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Noe from Quantum Dynamics Corporation in Silvervale."

"Quantum Dynamics Corporation?" Cassie thought for a moment, a bit surprised, "Is that the Noe from Silvervale's most luxurious Celestial Systems Hotel?"

"Yes," Noe nodded, with a hint of pride, "I didn't expect you to have heard of it. Your mother and Declan once visited our hotel while traveling in Silvervale."

"Declan mentioned it. He said your hotel was quite fun, and he won several million dollars before leaving," Cassie said, as if recalling.

Noe awkwardly replied, "That's because Declan is skilled. We're planning to go to the club now, it's still early. Why don't you join us?"

"Let's go, Bernice." Gary also looked at Nina with deep affection.

"Shall we go?" Nina looked at Cassie and Laura.

"Since you asked, we have no choice but to accompany you," Laura said helplessly, "I had plans with Derek, but I'm ditching him for you."

Gary immediately said, "Laura can invite Mr. Jude over."

"No, Derek's status is special," Laura said with a smile.

"True," Gary nodded, then looked at Cassie, "You can invite Mr. Hernandez too."

"He has to stay home and take care of the kids."

Noe laughed, "Mr. Hernandez is a good man. But then again, anyone who marries such a beautiful wife would cherish you."

"He didn't cherish me before. We even got divorced. Didn't you know?" Cassie asked, surprised.

Noe froze, "I really didn't know that. I'm not from Whisperlyn City, sorry."

"It's okay, don't worry about it. I'm not that petty."

The group then went to the club at the Enchanted Forest Hotel.

Cassie and Laura went to sing, while the men flattered them from the side.

Gary sat next to Nina, pouring her water, "Bernice, I didn't expect you to be so close with Cassie and Laura. They really care about you."

Nina responded lazily.

Gary turned to look at her. She sat on the sofa, her long lashes thick, and even with her short hair, she looked pure and attractive because of her youth.

He remembered the sweet times they had shared, and his heart suddenly stirred.

"Bernice," his hand slid towards hers.

But before he could touch her, she moved away, looking at him mockingly, "What, you want me to be your affair partner?"

"No," Gary felt guilty under her gaze. He had thought about it, but seeing how close she was with Cassie and Laura, he knew he wouldn't have a good outcome if they found out, "I was just overwhelmed by my feelings. Bernice, you're so beautiful. Why didn't you reply to my messages before? I was really worried when Lucas was bothering you."

"Then why did you leave? Afraid your fiancée would find out if things got out of hand?" Nina asked with a half-smile.
