Chapter 1728 Go Find Julia

"Yes, it's Julia." Facing his parents' almost out-of-control expressions, Elliott's face remained unchanged. "We've already gotten our marriage certificate."

"Elliott, if you want to drive me to my grave, just say so." Rose grabbed a fork from the table and threw it at Elliott with all her might.

Maeve, who was happily eating carrot sticks, suddenly saw Rose like this and burst into tears out of fear.

"Mom, what are you doing? Don't scare Maeve." Laura immediately hugged Maeve and gently comforted her.

To avoid scaring Maeve, Luke took a deep breath. "Elliott, is there no other woman in the world? Why did you have to choose someone from the Jude family? Wasn't Laura harmed enough by Michael's family? Every time I see James and his family, I feel like throwing up."

"Exactly," Rose said angrily. "I now find James's family even more detestable than the Penrose couple. If it weren't for them pushing Laura to marry that scumbag Michael, she wouldn't have ended up divorced. Michael slandered Laura online, accusing her of infidelity. I've never seen such a scumbag."

"I'm telling you, in this lifetime, I will never allow a marriage alliance with James's family."

Seeing her parents so agitated, Laura had to speak up. "Mom, Dad, Michael is Michael. My divorce was partly thanks to Derek and also Julia. When Michael slandered me online, it was Julia who took him away and dealt with it."

Rose looked at her in disappointment. "The Jude family caused you so much pain, and you're still speaking up for Julia."

"I think so, and as long as Elliott is happy, that's what matters." Laura reminded them, "You don't want him to be single for life, do you?"

"I'd rather he be single for life," Luke said angrily. "Laura, don't be fooled by James picking up Maeve to play at Whispering Pines Manor. We agreed to it, but you should have noticed that ever since Michael became an idiot, James always sends a driver; he never comes himself. He may not say anything openly, but he surely doesn't like our Miller family. They probably regret letting Michael marry you in the first place."

"Exactly. Just because they didn't care about you marrying Michael doesn't mean they can accept Julia marrying Elliott. They might even suspect Elliott has designs on the Jude Group."

"That's why Julia has given up being the president of the Jude Group for me," Elliott suddenly spoke up.

Everyone fell silent. Rose couldn't believe it. "You mean she did it for you?"

"Mom, we're not young anymore. We don't want to waste any more time. I was the one who took advantage of her when she was drunk and forced her to marry me. She might even be pregnant now," Elliott said coldly. "If the Jude family doesn't agree, we can live on our own. As long as we love each other, nothing else matters. You know my personality; I don't care much about what others think of me."

Rose's eyes widened.

Elliott admitted to taking advantage of Julia. What else could she say?

Luke's face was grim, his chest filled with anger but also helplessness. He knew Julia's character better than anyone.

Elliott stood up. "If you're not welcoming, then I won't bring Julia here. We'll live our own lives behind closed doors. I'll still come home often to visit you."

Seeing Julia heading upstairs, Rose felt particularly powerless and helpless. "Wait."

Elliott turned back, looking at Luke and Rose expressionlessly.

After a long standoff, Rose sighed. "Bring Julia back."

"But you can't give her a hard time tomorrow," Elliott coldly bargained. "You have to treat Julia the same way you treat Derek."

Rose remained silent.

"Elliott, don't push it," Luke said angrily. "Your mom agreeing is already good enough, and you still have so many demands."

"I can't let Julia be wronged," Elliott quietly retorted. "By the way, I'm planning to hold a wedding in two months. If you have any good venues, let me know."

"Get out."

Rose couldn't hold back any longer; she was utterly frustrated.

"Fine." Elliott thought for two seconds, then went downstairs and headed for the door.

"Stop, where are you going?" Luke angrily called after him.

"To find Julia."

"Will you die if you don't see Julia for one night?" Luke was almost spitting blood from anger.

"Don't you also need Mom at night?" Elliott threw back a line and left.

Rose shook her head in despair. "Is this still my cold, indifferent son who had no desires?"

"Yes, it's him," Laura reminded her very seriously.

Rose glared at her. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? If I had known, I would have kept a closer eye on him."

"Mom, you don't mind that Julia is divorced, do you?" Laura interrupted, looking at her with a sad expression.

"Of course not," Rose immediately denied.

"That's good," Laura nodded. "Please don't mind. Derek and Julia have a great relationship. Even though they're not biological siblings, they're as close as real ones. If you mind that Julia is divorced, Derek might think, 'Their family didn't mind my sister being divorced, so why should our family mind Julia being divorced?' That could affect my relationship."

She didn't continue, just looked at Rose and Luke with a pitiful expression.

Rose felt nervous. "Don't worry, I won't. I just don't like James and his wife; I think they don't know how to raise a son."

"Mom, Dad, I knew you were open-minded," Laura said with a smile, hugging Rose's arm. "Don't overthink it. Julia is quite nice. She's just a bit quiet and doesn't express herself well. Derek has told me a lot about her. She's had a tough time. Growing up in the Jude family, she didn't even have the right to pursue happiness and had to marry a seriously ill man for an alliance."

"I know, I'm not that heartless."

Rose sighed. She had met Julia a few times before. Although Julia was a bit cold, she was polite.

Don't be fooled by the glamorous life of the wealthy; women in such families often have no say in their marriages.

Luke was speechless. Rose softened too quickly. At least hold out for one night.

Elliott returned to his place.

As soon as he opened the door, the first thing he smelled was instant noodles.

"Why are you back so soon?" Julia looked up, but before she could finish, the instant noodles in front of her were taken away and thrown into the trash by him.
