Chapter 153
"Cassie was startled to realize she was wearing Arthur Lewis's clothes.
Fine, it was clearly another misunderstanding. But she was too tired and definitely not in the mood for an argument.
""Joseph Hernandez, what are you doing?"" Arthur's pupils contracted slightly as he sensed the man's intense possessiveness over Cassie.
He couldn't understand—wasn't Joseph just representing Cassie in a lawsuit?
""What do you think I'm doing?"" Joseph said expressionlessly, grabbing Cassie's chin and planting a kiss on her lips without any reservations. ""She's my woman. From now on, stay away from her, or I will turn the Lewis Group upside down.""
Arthur Lewis was utterly astounded. ""That's impossible! She doesn't love you at all. Cassie, what's going on?""
Overwhelmed by embarrassment, Cassie's face was blank.
She had once fantasized countless times about making a grand entrance with Joseph Hernandez by her side in front of Arthur Lewis, declaring triumphantly that she was part of his family now.
But she had never imagined that instead of getting her revenge, her dignity would be shattered in the most disgraceful way possible.
Yes, in Joseph's eyes, she was nothing more than an object.
No different from those women one could simply buy with money.
""Do you still not get it?"" Joseph Hernandez sneered even harder as he saw the desolate look on her face, his anger reaching a boiling point. ""There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world. If she wants me to defend her in court and save her from jail time, there's going to be a price to pay.""
Arthur Lewis staggered backward, a deep sense of betrayal washing over him. He shook his head, his complexion ghostly as if he couldn’t stomach the bitter truth. ""I don't believe it. I refuse to believe it.""
The princess he'd protected all her life couldn’t have fallen so low.
""Belief doesn't matter here.""
Joseph reached out and touched Cassie's face, paler than paper, his hidden cruelty seemingly sparked to life. Her desperation seemed to fuel his enjoyment.
But after all, she brought this upon herself!
""You son of a bitch!""
Arthur couldn’t take it anymore and lunged at Joseph, aiming a punch at his face.
With swift reflexes, Joseph pulled Cassie behind him and dodged. He countered quickly, knocking Arthur to the ground with a single punch.
Yet he didn’t feel satisfied. As he lifted his foot to continue, Cassie rushed over, clinging to him in fright, ""Please, stop!""
Momentarily considering her, Joseph paused, but Arthur saw his chance, scrambling up to land a punch that split Joseph's lip. Cassie gasped in shock.
Without a moment's hesitation, Joseph shoved her aside, laying into Arthur relentlessly until he was sprawled helplessly on the ground.
Cassie was stunned. She had never known Joseph could handle himself so well.
Arthur, a towering figure, was no more than a punching bag in Joseph’s grip—terrifyingly so.
After the beating, Joseph hoisted her over his shoulder and threw her into the car, driving away at breakneck speed. Cassie clung to the handle above her head, sweating with fear, dreading she might be tossed out at any moment.
But she didn't dare say a word; today's Joseph was more dangerous than ever before.
Back at the villa, Joseph dragged her from the car to the bedroom, his eyes dark and menacing, ""You dare to team up with another man to attack me?""
""I... I didn't,"" Cassie tried to get up, her knees weak from kneeling too long the night before, ""It was because...""
