Chapter 114
"Cassie felt both vindicated and amused. ""Are you stupid or what? Your Olivia is smart, hardworking, kind, and gracious, while I'm the vile and repulsive one.""
Arthur Lewis's handsome face flushed with embarrassment.
""Cassie, forgive me for hurting you. I regret it deeply and I want to make it up to you for the rest of my life. Can you come back to me? I promise, I'll never make the same mistake again.""
""I was naive before, but you're right; I'm still young, I can fight on my own, as long as you're here.""
He looked at her with hope.
David's expression darkened. He had never realized his nephew could be so shameless.
What worried him the most was that Cassie might be swayed, given her genuine past affection for Arthur Lewis.
""Cassie, think this through. If he betrayed you once, he can do it again...""
""Uncle!"" Arthur Lewis interjected, his voice a mix of shame and anger, ""I know you've got feelings for Cassie, but you can't force love. She's always held a torch for me.""
Caught in their tug-of-war, Cassie's patience snapped, shouting to cut through the tension:
All right, Arthur Lewis, zip it. Haven't you done enough damage? And you've got the nerve to say I like you? Give me a break. Just the thought of you makes my stomach turn. If I could turn back time, I'd choose never to have met you.
Sick and tired of their bickering, Cassie swung open the car door and got out.
""Wait, don't go,"" Arthur Lewis reached out in a panic. ""Just give me one chance. I won't give up.""
""Keep away from me. Don't touch me,"" she snapped.
David chimed in, ""I'll drive you home. Arthur's the one who should leave. Someone's stirring the pot behind the scenes, I'll help sort this out.""
""No need. I’ve got it handled.""
Cassie yanked her hand free and stormed off without a backward glance. Spending another minute with Arthur Lewis would only fuel her anger, and she wasn't keen on owing David any favors.

Elsewhere.
When Noah Collins caught the video of David publicly announcing Cassie as his girlfriend, his head went into a tailspin. Oh boy, that's hitting self-destruct.
Every single day, Joseph has been marching to court with a thunderous expression like he's heading into battle.
Not just that, his mood is giving the law firm an Antarctic chill that has everyone on edge.
If he catches wind of this trending news, say goodbye to peace. And little Cassie's in for a world of trouble too.
Noah knew he had to find Walter ASAP. The last thing they needed was Walter blabbing to Joseph Hernandez.
After unsuccessfully trying to reach Walter by phone, he rushed to the break room. As he burst in, Joseph landed a dart squarely on the bull’s eye.
Inside, a palpable chill filled the air.
""Joseph...""
""If you're here to talk about David making his claim on Cassie, I don't wanna hear it,"" Joseph Hernandez turned, picking up another dart, his silhouette a mix of shadow and frost that sent shivers down Noah's spine.
Noah glanced at Walter, standing ramrod straight, who said firmly, ""I'm the one who told him. The woman betrayed Mr. Hernandez.""
Noah thought: Oh boy, poor Cassie, you're on your own now.
He cleared his throat nervously, ""There's got to be a reason behind all this...""
""Why do you always take her side?"" Joseph spun around, his eyes icy shards. ""Don't tell me you've fallen for her.""
Noah nearly bit his tongue. The struggle to find words was real.
""That's ridiculous. I know better than to covet a friend's girl.""
