Chapter 1703 Was She Wrong?
Julia looked at the box that had fallen to the ground.
She felt an indescribable exhaustion.
She had worked all day, socialized with Uriah, got into a car accident on the way back, got rained on, and after returning home, she didn't get any rest and was tormented for so long.
She wasn't just tired; she felt physically unwell.
Her health had always been good, but she hadn't had proper rest these past few days. She felt she would definitely get sick tomorrow.
"Fine, I won't take my luggage. Can I go to the hospital then?"
Julia looked up at him and asked, "Or do I have to continue serving you with a bleeding body? Sorry, but I might die of exhaustion in bed. If I die, I die. You probably wouldn't care, but considering that if I die in your bed, you might go to jail. If not for yourself, think about your parents and your sister."
She looked at him so calmly, her eyes reflecting what seemed like a cold-blooded, heartless demon.
Elliott felt a chill to his bones.
In her eyes, was he really such scum?
She was bleeding, and he could still continue to torment her, even to death?
A deep sense of mockery filled his mind.
Elliott's cold, thin lips moved slightly, "Get out."
Julia staggered as she walked away.
She drove to a private hospital. During the examination, the female doctor silently glanced at her, "Do you need to report this to the police?"
Such severe injuries, she had only seen in cases of sexual assault.
"No need." Julia saw the pity in the doctor's eyes. She knew the doctor thought she might have encountered a bad person.
After all, what kind of husband would do this to his wife?
Julia just felt very sad.
Is a forced marriage really devoid of happiness?
Was she wrong?
That night, Julia received an IV drip at the hospital until five in the morning.
She was so tired that she overslept. It was the husband of the patient in the next bed who pressed the call button for her when the IV was finished.
"Thank you." Julia gratefully thanked the couple. They were both in their thirties. The woman lying in bed wasn't particularly beautiful, and her husband was also quite ordinary-looking, but they had a good relationship.
Especially when the woman was receiving the IV, the man was very tired but stayed by her side without sleeping.
Hearing Julia's voice, the man looked up and gave a simple smile, "No problem, just a small favor."
After the IV was finished, Julia left but suddenly remembered she had forgotten her medication. When she returned to the door of the ward, she heard the woman inside speaking, "The pretty lady who was sleeping next to us earlier was quite beautiful."
"No matter how beautiful she is, my heart only belongs to you," the man said with a smile.
"Come on, I'm not jealous. I just think she's quite pitiful, getting an IV all alone in the middle of the night. She didn't look very well either."
"Yeah, she probably isn't married yet."
"Someone as beautiful as her must have high standards for a partner," the woman said. "So, for people like us who are just average-looking, we have our own advantages. A woman doesn't need a lot of money to get married, just enough to live comfortably. The most important thing is that the husband should be considerate. My husband is the best."
"Dear, you're great too."
Julia lowered her eyes. After standing at the door for a few minutes, she went in to get her medication and left.
Back at her old house, Julia sent a message to her secretary saying she would be resting today and that if there was anything important, she could come to her house.
After taking a shower, she went back to bed and slept again.
She didn't know how long she had slept when she was woken up by the doorbell ringing outside.
She struggled to sit up, only to find that her legs hurt even when she bent them, and her lower body felt like it was splitting apart.
She managed to get dressed and walked to the door to open it. Secretary Delphine and Garth appeared in her view.
Garth was holding some food in one hand and flowers in the other, concerned, "I heard from Delphine that you were sick, so I came to check on you. How are you?"
He reached out to touch her forehead.
"I'm fine." Julia frowned and avoided his hand.
Garth's hand hung awkwardly in the air. Seeing this, Delphine quickly said, "Julia, these are some documents that need your urgent signature."
"Come in."
Julia adjusted her loungewear and sat on the sofa.
"You haven't had breakfast, right? I brought you some food." Garth placed the breakfast on the table; it was all quite light.
Julia glanced at it. Having had an IV on an empty stomach in the early morning, her stomach felt uncomfortable. She didn't stand on ceremony and drank some porridge.
"Where do you feel unwell? Should I call a doctor?" Garth looked around discreetly. There seemed to be no signs of a man living here, making him suspect that Julia might have been lying to him last night.
"No need." Julia picked up the documents and started reading them, her voice hoarse, "I went to the hospital and got some medication. Once you're done, you can leave. Don't delay your work."
"I just got back, so there's not much work. But you need someone to take care of you." Garth said gently, "By the way, did you catch a cold while dealing with the traffic accident last night? When I called you, you answered but didn't say anything, which made me really worried."
Julia was taken aback and asked, "When?"
"You didn't answer?" Garth looked puzzled, "Around 10:40 PM. Wasn't it you who answered the phone?"
Julia understood. No wonder Elliott came back like a madman last night. She could guess what Garth had said, probably something like he should have taken her home or shouldn't have asked him to dinner.
Then Elliott misunderstood.
But she was still quite disappointed. Just because of a phone call, he doubted her and assumed she had done something to betray him.
Did Elliott hate her that much, or did he completely not trust her?
Either way, it was a very sad situation.
"My phone was connected to the car's Bluetooth last night. I didn't hear anything." Julia turned to Delphine, "It seems someone took a video and posted it online last night. Find someone to delete those videos."
"Let me check." Delphine quickly took out her phone to search, "There are no videos, Julia. You must be mistaken."
Julia was stunned. She looked and indeed, there were no videos. But she remembered someone filming. Could it have been Elliott?
Her thoughts were complicated. Regardless, the two of them needed to cool off for a while.
After signing the documents, Julia said directly, "You two go ahead and get busy. I need to rest."
"I'll stay. I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone with a cold. I'm actually a pretty good cook." Garth smiled.
"No need. I like peace and quiet, and a housekeeper will come at noon."
Julia spoke very directly, and her fatigue was evident on her face.
