Chapter 1619 You're Not Dreaming
Originally, Cassie was wondering if she needed to help, but it seemed she was of no use.
"Derek, you're amazing! You can even gut a fish. Have you done it before?" Laura blinked her eyes. When they used to cook outside, Derek always bought the fish already prepared, so all they had to do was cook it. This was the first time she saw this side of him.
"No, but I used to watch people do it at the market," Derek smiled slightly.
Joseph remained silent.
He felt a bit defeated. He had also been to the market and watched people gut fish, but he couldn't do it himself.
"You're awesome," Laura continued to praise.
Cassie was grossed out by Laura's sweetness. She pulled her out and teased, "I didn't know you had such a sweet mouth. You never praised Benjamin like this when you were with him."
Laura was taken aback, then said, "What's there to praise about Benjamin?"
Cassie was speechless. He had nothing to praise, yet she used to chase after him.
"That was when I was young and naive," Laura mumbled. "Back then, there were just those few handsome guys in college. Once I broadened my horizons, I realized there were better people out there. Derek is good-looking, gentle, capable, successful, and understanding. He's great."
Cassie gave her a deep look, "Have you two had sex?"
Laura's face turned bright red.
"Looks like he's good in bed too, right?" Cassie smiled suggestively.
"He's alright." Unable to continue the conversation, Laura quickly slipped away.
Dinner was served on the second-floor deck.
Derek made eight dishes, including two types of sea fish—one steamed and one braised—along with the previously prepared lobster, conch, and sashimi.
In short, they had a delicious seafood dinner.
Everyone was in a good mood and drank a few bottles of red wine.
Laura, Cassie, and Bernice drank quite a bit, especially Bernice, who drank two whole bottles by herself. However, she could hold her liquor well and managed to walk without staggering, even though her head was a bit dizzy.
By the time they left the yacht at nine in the evening, Laura was staggering. She wasn't drunk, just very excited, so excited that she didn't care about much else, her whole body nestled in Derek's arms.
"Do you need a driver?" Joseph asked.
Derek shook his head and pointed to the big hotel across the street, "We're not going back."
"Alright, have fun," Joseph smirked, watching Derek hold Laura as they crossed the street. He felt a strange itch in his heart and turned to Cassie, "Should we also not go back and find a hotel?"
"No, I promised Sophia I'd be back tonight," Cassie shook her head decisively.
"Sweetheart," Joseph held her hand, disappointed, "Today is the day we got our marriage certificate."
"I didn't say I wouldn't be with you. Once Sophia and Oliver are asleep, it's not impossible," Cassie lifted her long eyelashes, her face flushed from the alcohol under the streetlight, "We're different from Laura and Derek. Their relationship is secret."
Joseph said helplessly, "I just wanted a change of place, something fresh."
"Alright, so you're saying I'm no longer fresh to you. Fine," Cassie turned and walked away.
"Honey, that's not what I meant."
Joseph quickly chased after her, almost in tears.
In the hotel
After getting the room key, Derek held Laura as they exited the elevator.
As soon as they opened the door, without even turning on the lights, their hot, young bodies pressed tightly together.
Not just their bodies, but their lips too.
Recently, Derek had been busy with work, and Laura had been preoccupied with Megan's matters. They only saw each other during meals or at the Presidential Palace, and at most, they would secretly hold hands.
Tonight, both of them were very happy.
Laura had introduced him to her friends, and Derek's excellence made Laura feel as sweet as honey.
They had exchanged several passionate glances on the yacht.
Plus, they had both been drinking, so once they entered the room, they couldn't control themselves.
Derek held her, his passionate kisses almost melting her, "Laura, I love you."
"Derek, I love you too."
She wasn't drunk before, but now she really was, passionately wrapping her arms around his neck.
The next day, the consequence of their intense lovemaking was that they both slept in very late.
Laura woke up in Derek's arms.
When she opened her eyes, she was still in a daze.
Thinking about her boldness and recklessness last night made her blush.
She looked up at the man beside her. His eyes were closed, and his eyelashes were long and thick like feather brushes.
This was the first time they had spent the night outside, and it was also the first time she saw him sleeping in bed.
"How can you look so handsome even with messy hair while you're asleep?"
Laura gently pinched his nose.
"Now you know, you didn't lose out by choosing me."
The man, who had been pretending to sleep, suddenly opened his eyes.
"So you were pretending to sleep," Laura felt embarrassed and pinched his arm hard before turning away, not wanting to look at him.
"I wasn't pretending. I woke up a while ago but didn't want to open my eyes. I wanted to savor this moment a bit longer."
Derek quickly pulled her back, his eyes soft, "This is the first time I've woken up to see the woman I love. Laura, do you think I'm dreaming?"
Laura's heart skipped a beat, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, "You're not dreaming. I'm here."
It turned out he felt the same way she did.
It was her first time too.
When their relationship had progressed beyond just emotional connection to physical intimacy, some feelings seemed uncontrollable.
"Yes, I know you're here." Derek lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers.
"Stop, I haven't brushed my teeth," Laura's face turned red with shyness.
"Perfect, I'll help you." Derek chuckled and deepened the kiss.
"Aren't you going to work?" Laura asked shyly, admiring his stamina.
"I'll take the morning off." At that moment, Derek felt that nothing could pull him out of bed.
Afterward, their phones rang several times.
But neither of them answered.
After making love, Derek finally picked up his phone and went to the balcony to make a call.
