Chapter 745
"This is basic common sense, okay? If you don't mind hurting your stomach, I'll get you some medicine right now," Cassie was speechless at his confidence.
"Is it so difficult to admit that you care about me?" Joseph was firm.
"So what if I admit it? The whole world knows you're getting hitched, Joseph. Would you ditch your fiancée for a girl like me?" After a sarcastic remark, Cassie headed to the kitchen to whip up some noodles.
Joseph silently watched her figure, his thoughts complex. Although he had known that he had some feelings for her, he admitted that those feelings were not enough to affect his feelings for Megan.
But everything that happened last night made him rethink his perception of Megan.
Perhaps Megan wasn't as kind as he imagined, and Cassie wasn't as bad as he thought.
The simple noodle soup was ready in less than ten minutes.
Joseph finished a large bowl of noodles in just a few minutes. Although they were ordinary noodles, they tasted exceptionally delicious when made by her.
It seemed that no matter when his appetite would be good in her presence.
After finishing the noodles, a cup of warm water, a few cold pills, and a sachet were placed in front of him.
"Aren't you going to help me prepare the medicine?" Joseph lifted his eyelids, looking like a child who was uncomfortable and didn't want to move.
"What's Megan's phone number? Should I call her to come and prepare the medicine for you?" Cassie took out her phone. She had never seen such an unreasonable man.
Joseph silently got up to prepare the medicine, his weak and pale handsome face making him look pitiful.
About twenty minutes later, sobs could be heard coming from the bedroom. Cassie immediately ran in, and soon, Sophia stopped crying and replaced it with laughter.
Joseph walked to the doorway and saw Cassie braiding Sophia's hair on the big bed, transforming her into a beautiful little princess in no time.
A warm feeling suddenly swept through his heart.
This morning, he felt like they were a family of three.
But soon, the doorbell rang.
Nathaniel stood respectfully at the door, "Joseph, Cassie told me you're not feeling well. I'll take you to the hospital now."
Joseph's expression darkened.
He instinctively turned to look at Cassie, who was leading Sophia out. "Did you call Nathaniel?"
"I'm busy, don't have time to babysit you, and besides, we're not related either," Cassie said as she served breakfast to Sophia.
Sophia had a hearty meal of noodles and salad. He was left with just a bowl of plain noodle soup. Joseph once again felt like he was being treated as if he had no status at all.
"I heard you have a cold. You should go to the hospital soon," Sophia looked up sympathetically at him. Liam will come to pick me up later and take me to daycare."
"Daycare?" Joseph was stunned.
"Yeah, Cassie told me last night that I should go to school. There are many friends in daycare, and I won't feel lonely anymore, and I won't always disturb you while you work and rest." Sophia looked very understanding.
Joseph felt even more aggrieved. He actually didn't feel disturbed and quite liked being around Sophia. But if Sophia went to school, he would rarely see her.
"Sophia, I didn't feel disturbed," Joseph said with a heavy heart.
"I know, but you're getting married. Cassie said you're always with me every day. Megan might not like it, and I don't want her to dislike me," Sophia said innocently.
Joseph looked at Cassie with annoyance.
"Did I say something wrong?" Cassie raised her eyebrows playfully. "Or do you think Megan wouldn't mind at all?"
