Chapter 1311 The Hernandez Group Changes Its Name to the Robert Group
"Quick move, huh?" Joseph chuckled.
Nathaniel looked worried. "Declan beat up David in the conference room that day. I'm afraid Robert might stir up trouble later. What if she gets someone to rough you up in there too?"
"Well, I can't just avoid it 'cause I'm scared. What would the company think of me then?"
Joseph stood up, his tall and imposing figure radiating strength.
Nathaniel silently followed behind him, feeling oddly calm.
In the past, whenever Joseph was like this, Nathaniel knew he had everything under control.
Five minutes later, Joseph pushed open the conference room door.
This was his first time meeting Isabella, who was also Cassie's biological mother.
He'd heard all the drama from Nathaniel.
Word was, Isabella had been so deceived by Olivia that she couldn't even recognize her own daughter.
Today, Isabella sat at the head of the table, dressed in a white suit. She had some of Cassie's features, but her face was much thinner and her eyes were cold and sinister.
Especially when he walked in, Isabella's gaze was filled with blatant indifference and disdain.
Joseph frowned. Despite being mother and daughter, Cassie gave off vibes of beauty and purity, while Isabella was a whole different story.
Lars and Robert sat on either side of Isabella, and even Helen was there.
"You're finally here. We've been waiting for you forever." Lars quickly stood up and said with a smile, "Let me introduce you. This is Isabella Brooks. She is in the oil business abroad and is quite loaded. She's also Robert's sister. Today's meeting is about divvying up Olivia's shares after her death."
Joseph casually pulled out a chair and sat down, saying lightly, "As far as I know, there's a dispute over the shares, right?"
Lars laughed, "Declan previously sued to recover his wife's assets, but Isabella said she had a prenup with Declan. This means the money Isabella gave to Olivia can't be reclaimed by Declan. The lawsuit was dropped after Isabella personally went to court. They decided that the money Olivia used to acquire the Hernandez Group came from Isabella. However, Robert is Olivia's father. So, regarding Olivia's seventy percent share, fifty percent goes to Robert and twenty percent to Isabella."
Joseph raised an eyebrow in surprise. He glanced at Isabella, who seemed calm and agreeable.
Robert, on the other hand, said awkwardly, "Isabella, technically, you deserve the largest share because all the money came from you. But you gave me fifty percent. I... maybe you should take some back."
"No, Robert. My focus isn't in Madison and I won't be managing the Hernandez Group much. Besides, you and Helen have taken care of Olivia and our mother all these years. This is just a token of my gratitude."
Isabella glanced at Lars, "You should assist Chairman Robert well in the future."
Lars widened his eyes, "You mean Chairman Robert Brooks?"
"Who else?" Isabella gave Joseph a cold look, "The shares held by Robert and me add up to 70%. We have the right to appoint a new chairman. Mr. Hernandez, right?"
"Yeah." Joseph nodded with a grin.
Seeing Joseph so chill and not his usual cocky self, Robert felt pretty smug but tried to hide it, putting on a guilty face instead.
"Robert, don't sweat it. I know a lot of people abroad. I'll make sure to back the Hernandez Group." Isabella said.
Robert looked all touched, but inside, he was doing a happy dance.
Lars chimed in, all excited, "Then let me congratulate Chairman Robert Brooks in advance. But, there's one thing."
He hesitated and glanced at Joseph, "A few days ago, Mr. Hernandez said I wasn't fit to manage the company because of the share dispute. Cassie also said I wasn't doing a good job. I was a bit embarrassed since Mr. Hernandez is the new president now."
At the mention of Cassie, Isabella's eyes filled with hatred. She looked at Joseph with disgust, "When did it become Cassie's place to meddle in our company's affairs? Joseph, you have no ability to manage the Hernandez Group. After this meeting, pack your stuff and leave. The company doesn't need the Hernandez family meddling anymore."
"Isn't that a bit harsh, Isabella?" Robert quickly said.
"Robert, you're too soft. Some people don't get that the Hernandez Group is history. By the way, the Hernandez Group should change its name. From now on, it's the Robert Group."
The Robert Group.
Robert and Helen were over the moon.
Joseph looked at Isabella and sneered.
"Got a problem?" Isabella looked at him coldly.
Joseph said, "I just don't get how you managed to do big business abroad."
Isabella's face turned icy, and the bodyguard behind her shouted angrily, "Shut up."
"Hit him," Isabella ordered her bodyguard.
Eight bodyguards immediately walked towards Joseph.
Robert and the others watched, amused.
Nathaniel was anxious, "Mr. Hernandez."
"Are we gonna fight? There are so many people here. Don't blame me if someone else gets hurt." Joseph said with a smile, rolling up his sleeves.
Isabella sneered, "Break his legs."
At first, she watched coldly. She wanted to punish Cassie, but Cassie wasn't here. Joseph was said to be Cassie's ex-husband who had been deceived by Cassie. So she decided to start with him.
But three minutes later, Isabella's expression changed.
Joseph was slick. Whenever he was about to be overpowered by the eight bodyguards, he would use Robert and Helen as shields, causing the bodyguards to hesitate.
"Three of you, protect Robert and Helen." Isabella changed her strategy.
But with three fewer bodyguards, the remaining five were no match for Joseph. In no time, he had broken their legs.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry. You were too harsh, so I had no choice but to fight back." Joseph said with a smug smile, stepping on a bodyguard's face.
Joseph's cocky demeanor made Isabella slam the table and throw a teacup at him, then pointed at the remaining three bodyguards, "Kill him!"
The three bodyguards hesitated, knowing that if five couldn't beat him, three certainly couldn't.
But with Isabella's outburst, they had no choice but to try, only to almost get killed themselves.
