Chapter 570

Nathan's voice held a certain determination as he spoke, "I've had someone tailing her for a while now. I'm resolved to sleep with her."

Megan's eyebrow arched in response. Had it been any other woman, she wouldn't have cared. However, she found herself harboring a distinct dislike for Laura.

"In that case, enjoy yourself, but remember not to cross the line," Megan advised.

"Don't worry, I'm well aware of my boundaries," Nathan reassured her.

As the clock struck nine in the evening, Cassie, fresh from her shower, received a Facebook message from Laura, inviting her to join in a game. Cassie understood Laura's fear of solitude and her tendency to overthink when alone, so she agreed without hesitation.

They donned their headsets and dove into a few rounds of the game. Suddenly, Cassie heard Laura's voice, laced with confusion, "Who could be knocking at my door at this hour? I should call the police."

A loud "Bang!" echoed through the headset, followed by an abrupt silence.

Cassie immediately tried to call Laura, but the call wouldn't connect. A wave of unease washed over her. She was at least an hour away from Laura's place, and she didn't know anyone in Madison.

After a moment's thought, she dialed David's number, "David, it seems someone has forced their way into Laura's house. Could you please go check on her? I'm worried something might have happened. I'll send you the address and be there as soon as I can."

"Alright, I'm on my way," David assured her.

After ending the call, Cassie alerted the police before hastily getting into her car and driving towards the front gate. The security guard at the gate refused her exit, exacerbating her anxiety. In a desperate move, she drove straight into the gate.

The sturdy gate didn't yield, startling the guard who quickly opened it, allowing Cassie to leave. He immediately informed the housekeeper of the incident.

Cassie drove recklessly, managing to reach Laura's apartment in forty minutes, a journey that usually took an hour. As she approached the apartment, she noticed the front door had been forced open.

The living room was in chaos, and sounds of a struggle echoed from the bedroom. Cassie rushed in to find Laura lying weakly on the bed, her pupils dilated. Her clothes were torn, and her face and body bore multiple injuries.

David was alone, battling against three men. Two of them were tall and had the menacing air of professional thugs. David was already sporting multiple injuries.

The third man was none other than Nathan. Seizing a moment when David was distracted, Nathan lunged towards Laura, tearing at her clothes once more.

"Damn it," Cassie muttered, the sight before her piercing her like a knife.

Without a second thought, she grabbed a nearby trash can and hurled it at Nathan.

Nathan, struck by the trash can, angrily shoved Cassie away.

"Watch out!" David quickly rushed to her side, wrapping her in his arms.

However, the two thugs behind them swiftly pulled out knives, stabbing David in the shoulder.

"David!" Cassie cried out, clutching onto him in panic.

"Don't worry, it's just a minor injury." David's handsome face turned ashen, but he still tried to reassure her.

Tears welled up in Cassie's eyes as her heart clenched. David had saved her from being stabbed for the second time.

And all Cassie could offer him in return was her guilt.
