Chapter 440
A shadow crossed Joseph's face. "Is her presence here merely happenstance?" he asked.
"It would seem so. The nurses chosen for your care are the top performers of this quarter," came the reply.
Joseph's brow eased, his suspicion momentarily quelled. "Who currently holds the reins of the Zenith Family?"
"Nina," was the terse response.
A chilling smile curled at the corners of Joseph's mouth. "A cuckoo in the nest, and still unsatisfied. Relay this—Zenith Family is to receive no more of our chips."
"Understood," Walter responded, a moment's hesitation betraying the words he swallowed back.

As the clock struck five in the afternoon, Cassie made an early departure from work. As she exited her car, the rhythmic thumping of basketballs echoed from the nearby court.
She arrived just in time to witness Joseph, with a graceful lift of his hands, leap into the air and send a stunning three-pointer arcing into the basket. His white tee clung to his sweat-drenched back, yet he seemed to exude an almost radiant energy.
She was captivated.
In her high school days, she'd considered Arthur Lewis the epitome of cool on the basketball court. But now, in comparison to Joseph, she understood the true meaning of dashing.
The sudden applause snapped her back to reality. Only then did she notice a girl of her age standing nearby, dressed in simple blue jeans and a white sweater, her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail.
"Joseph's got game," the girl remarked, approaching with a water bottle and a towel. "You've been at it for forty minutes, time for a break."
"Uh-huh," Joseph grunted, accepting the water and taking a long drink.
The setting sun cast a picturesque light over the scene, momentarily blinding Cassie.
"Joey..." She called out, hurrying over.
Joseph turned, his handsome face breaking into a warm smile. "Hey babe, you're home early today?"
"Finished work early, didn't want you to be bored all alone at home." Cassie's gaze flitted to the girl, now clearly visible – attractive but ordinary, no match for her former self, and certainly not for Luna.
She exhaled a silent sigh of relief.
Love has a way of shrinking one's world, filling it with insecurities. It seemed she was no exception.
"Hi Rosalind, I'm Joyce Ray, the nurse assigned by the hospital to look after Joseph," the girl introduced herself with a polite smile.
"Oh, thank you for your help," Cassie responded, feeling an odd sense of familiarity with Joyce Ray's gaze, though she couldn't quite place it.
"It's an honor to care for Joseph. I hope he'll recover soon," Joyce Ray replied, maintaining her respectful demeanor.
"Let's head upstairs, I need a shower," Joseph suggested, draping an arm around Cassie’s shoulder.
"Joseph, you should rest for about half an hour after exercising before taking a shower," Joyce Ray advised.
"…Alright," Joseph paused, then nodded.
Cassie felt a jolt of surprise.
Once upstairs, Joseph peeled off his tee, and Cassie fetched a towel to wipe his back. "What made you decide to play basketball today?"
"Joyce Ray suggested that some exercise would aid my recovery and improve sleep," he explained.
"Joyce Ray?" A shiver ran down Cassie's spine.
What a coincidence. Ray. He had an ex-girlfriend named Megan Ray. Both with 'Ray' in their names.
"Yeah, what about it?" Joseph turned to look at her, sensing her unease.
