Chapter 1075 Let Her Go
Laura rubbed her chin and said, "Joseph is someone you won't be able to shake off for the rest of your life."
Cassie was speechless.
"Why don't you get back together with him?" Laura sighed. "Stop struggling."
"Laura, I'm married now, okay?" Cassie reminded her irritably, "The first time I got married, Joseph was seduced by Megan and treated me like a mental patient. The second time, I married a demon who beat me like this. Do you think I still have any hope for love and marriage? I'm almost scared to death."
"That's true, poor Cassie." Laura hugged her quickly, feeling sorry for her. "Let's not get married or find partners anymore. We'll raise our three kids together."
Joseph, who was chopping vegetables in the kitchen, saw Laura and Cassie hugging, and his handsome face darkened.
He knew they were good friends, but this scene was still too much for him.
"Let go of her." he couldn't stand it anymore and walked out to warn Laura.
"Nope." Laura raised her chin angrily. "We're both women who have been hurt by love. In the end, we realized that men are unreliable and only women can be trusted. Cassie said she wanted to be with me in the future. We already have kids, and we won't need men to have children anymore."
"Are you crazy?" Joseph gritted his teeth. "If you want to find a woman, find someone else. Don't involve her."
Laura scoffed, "You're overthinking it. Cassie is the one who has been hurt the most by men. She's scared of men now. In the future, the only person she might like is me."
Cassie was speechless. She said it casually, not expecting Laura to think so far ahead.
"Alright, visiting time is over. You can leave now." Joseph grabbed Laura and dragged her to the door.
"Joseph, let go. If you dare to hurt me, Cassie won't forgive you," Laura shouted.
Joseph closed the door and locked Laura outside.
"Why are you treating Laura like this?" Cassie said irritably.
"She has inappropriate thoughts about you. I'm doing this to cut off her ideas," Joseph said righteously, "Cassie, men are still more suitable for you. At least men are stronger. If a light bulb breaks at home, I can change it. If the toilet is clogged, I can fix it."
"For those things, I can call a repairman," Cassie rolled her eyes at him.
Joseph raised an eyebrow. "When you're in a bad mood, I can let you yell at me and hit me. When you're tired from shopping, I can carry your things. I can also teach and protect Oliver and Sophia and be a good father to them. These are things no one else can replace."
"Enough," Cassie said, her head aching from his words, "I'm not divorced yet. I don't want to think about these things. Even if I get divorced, I want to be single for a few years. I'm really fed up with you all. I want to live alone, peacefully and freely."
"A few years?" Joseph's face fell.
"Yes, do you have a problem with that?" Cassie raised an eyebrow at him.
"No, I don't. It's just a few years. By then, my illness will definitely be cured." Joseph comforted himself and went back to the kitchen to cook.
Cassie closed her eyes to rest for a while when suddenly, Joseph's phone on the bedside table rang.
She glanced at it and saw the name "Marigold."
Cassie thought to herself, 'Is he still in contact with Marigold?'
Hearing the phone, Joseph came out of the kitchen and saw that the caller was Marigold.
He glanced at Cassie and then answered the call in front of her, putting it on speaker.
"Joseph, you finally answered my call. I thought you weren't going to pick up。" Marigold's laughter came through.
"What do you want?" Joseph asked coldly.
"Are you still spending every day at the hospital with Cassie? I just don't get it. She was married to someone else. How can she compare to me?" Marigold was annoyed by his cold tone.
Joseph said indifferently, "Ms. Dixon, do you have a misunderstanding about your age? At your age, many women are already married with children, yet you act like you're still eighteen."
"Joseph, am I wrong? I'm only twenty, okay?" Marigold said irritably, "Joseph, I've given you enough respect. Do you have to make me angry? I didn't even plan to hold you accountable for what happened in the bathroom last time."
"Enough. I haven't even settled the score with you for drugging me last time." Joseph's patience was wearing thin. "Marigold, stay away from me. You use any means necessary, disgusting."
"Really, Joseph? If I go online right now and say that you and Cassie were having an affair in the bathroom on my birthday, I guarantee that you will be scorned by everyone in Madison. Even the major aristocratic families will see you as a disgrace and never invite you to any events again." Marigold sneered.
Joseph's eyes flashed with coldness.
If Marigold had said Joseph and Cassie had an affair publicly, Cassie would have been scolded even more harshly.
He didn't care about himself, but he was worried about Cassie.
Cassie's slender hand suddenly grabbed his phone. She smiled and said, "Go ahead, say it. If reporters ask me, I'll just say I had no choice because you shamelessly drugged Joseph."
"Cassie, it's you!" Marigold was almost furious. She didn't expect Cassie to be there and hear everything. She was angry that Cassie and Joseph were this close.
"Cassie, you're shameless. You're married and still not behaving yourself. I've never seen a woman as despicable as you," Marigold cursed.
"Thanks, but unfortunately, Joseph loves me. Men generally aren't interested in women like you." Cassie finished speaking and hung up, then tossed the phone back to Joseph.
"Are you upset that I drove Marigold away and you missed the chance to climb up to Ralph?" Cassie asked with a smile.
