Chapter 982 Miscarriage
Laura was on the verge of tears. "Don't scare me. I don't want to be pregnant with that idiot Michael's child. It's terrible if the baby inherite his IQ."
"Don't say that. Michael might have low emotional intelligence, but he's good at business," Cassie comforted her.
"Stop talking that," Laura said, holding her head.
"Allright," Cassie said, giving her a shrimp. "After dinner, I'll go with you to the hospital for an ultrasound."
"I'm in no mood to eat." Laura was terrified. "I've never been pregnant before. Is an abortion painful? I'm really afraid of pain."
"If it's early, it shouldn't be too painful," Cassie reassured Laura.
But Laura had completely lost her appetite and couldn't stand the smell of fish.
After eating, Cassie took Laura to the emergency room.They drew blood, and then did an ultrasound.
While Laura was getting the ultrasound, Cassie waited outside. Five minutes later, Laura came out with a pale face. "Holy crap. I'm pregnant."
Cassie's face turned serious. After a moment, she said, "You should get an abortion."
After Cassie got together with Joseph, she went through a lot of hardships. She couldn't even handle Megan back then, let alone Laura. Besides, Michael was even more bewitched by Megan. Michael only had Megan in his heart. If Laura had this child, it would do her no good.
"Okay." Laura nodded repeatedly.
Although Laura was very afraid of having an abortion, keeping the child would only harm her. She now really wanted to strangle Nathan and Michael, those two idiots.
After seeing the emergency doctor, the doctor said, "If you want an abortion, go to the OB-GYN department tomorrow to make an appointment."
Laura and Cassie left the emergency room. Just then, Lucas, dressed in a suit, came out with several hospital leaders. When Lucas saw Cassie and Laura's backs, he stopped.
"Lucas, it's all thanks to you for coming to our hospital on short notice. Otherwise, it would have been hard to save that patient..." The hospital director hadn't finished speaking when he saw Lucas staring ahead. "Lucas, did you see someone you know?"
"Yes, could you find out why those two are here?" Lucas asked.
"No problem. I'll call you once I find out," the director said with a smile, seeing Lucas off to his car.
Halfway through, the director called, "One of those two, a patient named Laura, had a check-up. She is over a month pregnant."
"What?" Lucas was shocked. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, but it seems Laura wants to have an abortion. She plans to come to the OB-GYN department tomorrow morning to make an appointment for the procedure."
"I see. Thank you." Lucas frowned, thinking, 'The child must be Michael's. Laura is pregnant!'
Lucas hesitated for a long time before dialing Julia's number.
Although it might be unfair to Laura, if Michael continued to be entangled with Megan, it would harm Laura. This was an opportunity to get Michael away from Megan.
The next day, Cassie took the day off to accompany Laura to the OB-GYN department.
After looking at the ultrasound and blood test reports, the doctor said, "If you want an abortion, you'll have to wait until the afternoon."
"The afternoon?" Laura's eyes widened. "So soon."
Laura thought it would take several days. She wasn't mentally prepared yet. "Will it be very painful?"
"There will definitely be some pain. If you're really afraid, you can opt for anesthesia," the doctor replied.
"I will," Laura said, nodding blankly.
Just as they left the consultation room, they suddenly saw Caroline, Julia, and James waiting outside.
"Laura, I heard you're pregnant." Caroline, full of joy, came up to her. She was over fifty, and all her friends were already grandparents, but she hadn't had grandchildren yet. When she found out Laura was pregnant, she was so excited.
"Caroline, how did you find out?" Laura was puzzled and had a bad feeling.
"Yesterday, when you came for your check-up, someone from the Jude family saw you," Julia said, not mentioning Lucas's name.
Cassie and Laura exchanged a pained look.
Cassie and Laura had specifically chosen a hospital without any Nelson family investments to avoid being seen, but they were still discovered.
The Jude family would definitely not want Laura to have an abortion.
James looked at Laura pleadingly. "Laura, please keep the child. We'll arrange for you and Michael to get married immediately. Michael should take responsibility."
"Yes, you're already engaged." Caroline nodded. "As long as you're willing to keep the child, we'll agree to any request you have."
Laura shook her head. "Caroline, James, I know you mean well, but I really don't want to marry Michael. I only agreed to the engagement because of that night's incident. It was a stopgap measure. Michael isn't right for me. Having the child would only harm it. I don't want the child to be born into an incomplete family."
Caroline was anxious. "Laura, Michael was confused. He'll eventually know who Megan is."
"How long is 'eventually'?" Cassie interjected. "Michael loves Megan deeply. He won't be a good father. He has no sense of family responsibility. Michael is someone who prioritizes love above all else, and Megan is not a simple person."
"Caroline, James, I don't need money," Laura said seriously. "Even if you tempt me with stocks and money, it won't work. To me, ten million dollars and 1.3 billion dollars, or even one hundred billion dollars, make no difference. My family may not be as wealthy as the Jude family, but they've provided me with everything I need."
James sighed. The more he listened, the more he admired Laura.
Laura was a child raised in a harmonious, affluent family. It was a pity that Michael didn't appreciate her.
"If you want the Miller family to go bankrupt, then get rid of the child," Julia suddenly said coldly.
"What do you mean?" Laura glared at Julia angrily. She wondered why Julia was so heartless.
"Maybe money and power don't mean much to you, but what about your family?" Julia said coldly, her beautiful face indifferent. "I can make the Miller family's decades of effort go to waste. I can make you experience your family's lack of money and your parents' inability to enjoy their old age. With the Jude family's power, it's a piece of cake."
"Are you a devil?" Laura couldn't bear it anymore.
