Chapter 1376 Love Turned Me into a Homeless Dog
"Girl, you're way hotter than Megan. Smarter, better family, and let's not forget that killer body. Plus, you're way nicer. You totally outshine her. No wonder Michael's into you, especially since you guys are always together."
"Yeah, you're right."
Laura felt a rush of excitement. "I really am awesome. Almost forgot how amazing I am."
"That's 'cause you've been stuck at home with the pregnancy for too long, and all that drama with Nathan and Benjamin messed with your confidence."
Laura went quiet for a sec.
Yeah, that whole Nathan thing really hit her hard.
"Laura, that's ancient history. Who knows where Nathan's at now? Probably nowhere important. And he didn't even succeed. Believe in yourself. You're the best. Now that you're back in shape and the kid's sorted, you should head back to Whisperlyn City and get back to work. Didn't you say you wanted to start a makeup company and go global? My money's ready to back you anytime."
"Cassie, I love you so much. Thanks for the reminder. I'm gonna make a name for myself in the global makeup scene."
Laura was tearing up. "I'm clear-headed now. You and Joseph carry on. Bye-bye."
Cassie was speechless.
"Cassie."
Cassie didn't know where Joseph came from, but he grabbed her and kissed her hard.
"Stop it. Laura just laughed at me because of you." Cassie pushed him away.
"What's there to laugh about? Making love is normal." Joseph bit her lip and kissed her passionately. "Are you really gonna help Laura start a business?"
"Of course. Living this wild life with you every day is kinda boring." Cassie sighed.
Joseph felt a pang of hurt.
She actually said this happy life was boring.
"Baby, I promise you won't be bored in a moment."
Joseph pounced on her like a big dog.
Silverwood.
After putting on some killer makeup, Laura went downstairs.
Hearing footsteps, Michael looked up.
Michael was totally stunned.
Laura's features were striking, and with a bit of makeup, she changed into an orange floral dress with a dark orange knitted cardigan. She wore stunning earrings and carried a luxury handbag, her whole vibe transformed, making her drop-dead gorgeous.
People can be weird sometimes.
When Michael didn't like her before, he just thought she was pretty. Now that he realized he liked her, he suddenly felt that everything she wore made her look like an angel.
"Where are you going all dolled up?" Michael suddenly got suspicious.
"None of your business." Laura didn't even glance at him.
"You're my wife."
Laura thought for a moment, then turned back, looking at him proudly. "I'm so beautiful, come from a good family, highly educated, and kind-hearted. So what if you like me? I think you're not good enough for me."
Michael's eyes widened, stunned by her confidence. "I'm not good enough for you?"
"Yep."
Laura slipped on her high heels and strutted out.
Michael watched her mesmerizing figure and felt a surge of anger.
In the end, he quickly followed her.
When Laura opened the car door, he rushed over and snatched the keys. "Laura, you're right. I'm not good enough for you. So, for a guy like me, it's better to be your chauffeur. You sit in the back, and I'll take you wherever you wanna go."
He opened the back door, looking so eager to please that Laura was taken aback.
"I'm meeting a young guy. You sure you wanna drive me there?" She raised an eyebrow, teasing him.
Michael's handsome face tightened. "Sure, just so I can see what these young guys are like. Whatever you want, I'll serve you at home."
"What's gotten into you?" Laura felt everything was super weird.
"Yeah, love's made me like this." Michael smirked. He had it all figured out now.
Since he liked Laura, he’d spoil her just like he did with Megan.
No, he’d spoil Laura even more because she was way better than Megan.
Laura was silent. She was really thrown off by him.
"I'm going shopping with an old classmate."
Michael quickly chimed in, "My wife is truly beautiful and kind-hearted, with lots of friends."
Honestly, he thought Laura only had Cassie and Bernice as friends.
"Whatever, I grew up in Silverwood. Of course, I have friends here. But no one compares to Cassie."
Laura snorted and sat in the back seat.
But she wanted to mess with Michael, so on the way, she kept saying, "Michael, why are you driving so fast? Trying to get me in an accident so you can take over the kids? And now you're driving like a snail! Trying to make me late?"
Michael got a real taste of the struggles of being a driver.
But it was all worth it for love.
He stayed quiet.
When they got to the destination, Laura said coolly, "Go get me a bottle of water. Your lousy driving made my mouth dry from talking."
"Laura, my driving might suck, but my skills in bed are still top-notch." Michael winked at her.
Laura was stunned, her face turning bright red. "Are you kidding? I didn't feel a thing."
"Really?" Michael pouted, not buying it. "Anyway, I got you pregnant in one go. Pretty impressive, huh?"
"Are you getting the water or not?" Laura gritted her teeth, not wanting to discuss such embarrassing stuff here.
"Okay, okay, I'm going," Michael smirked.
Laura's heart skipped a beat.
Even though Michael was annoying, he was definitely good-looking.
But she didn't wait for him and walked straight into the mall.
Soon, she spotted a cute woman standing there with a three or four-year-old boy. That was Laura's high school buddy, Lily Morgan, who she used to hang out with a lot in Silverwood.
"Laura, long time no see." Lily greeted her with a smile and teased, "You're now the princess of Madison. Didn't expect you to go shopping with me. If our old classmates knew, they'd be so jealous."
