Chapter 626
In a silent pivot, Cassie turned her back to Joseph. Hidden from his view, her eyes flickered with a bone-chilling, overwhelming murderous intent. She was well aware that Joseph would not feel the slightest remorse. It was just as she had anticipated.
"Joseph," she mused to herself, "you may be indifferent now, but I will ensure you experience a fate worse than death."
"Hey, did you hear what I said?" Joseph's voice broke through her thoughts. His frustration was palpable as he grasped Cassie's arm, who had fallen eerily silent. "You're going with me tomorrow to get a divorce."
"I'm not going," she replied flatly.
Joseph's anger flared, and he kicked over the trash can in front of him. " Cassie, don't push me to use force."
"Okay, come on then." Cassie responded, a vague smile playing on her lips. Joseph's handsome face darkened at her words.
After a long, exhausting day, all Cassie wanted was to take a shower and video chat with Austin's two little darlings. But Joseph's persistent presence was giving her a headache. "Can you leave? I want to take a shower."
"Promise to go through the divorce proceedings, then I'll leave," Joseph retorted, lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed. Despite his noble appearance, he exuded an aura of a scoundrel. "You just want money, right? I'll give you ten billion, enough for you to live a worry-free life. That's the height of my kindness and righteousness. After all, you're only worth that much."
"If that's the case, then don't leave your seat here," Cassie retorted, walking directly into the bedroom.
Joseph's face darkened further. He rose and followed her, arriving just in time to see Cassie pulling out a black, sexy piece of lingerie from the drawer.
" Cassie, what are you planning by wearing this? Trying to seduce me?" Joseph's eyes narrowed suspiciously.
Cassie dangled it in front of him. "Big brother, do you want to check it out, the old one?"
"Do you usually dress like this?" Joseph asked, annoyance creeping into his voice. "Who do you want to show it to?"
"I'll wear it and show whoever I want. It's none of your business. As a woman, you have to be ready at all times." Cassie pulled out another piece of thin black lingerie, some parts made of sheer mesh fabric.
Joseph impulsively snatched it and tore it up before discarding it. Cassie would not be given the chance to cheat within their marriage. She could forget about it.
"Joseph, have you lost your mind?" Cassie was dumbfounded.
"If you don't want to get a divorce, then behave yourself." After issuing his sinister warning, Joseph casually tore apart the rest of Cassie's clothes in the drawer. "You're not allowed to wear this kind of stuff anymore."
Cassie could only curse wildly in her mind. She had only returned to the country for a few days, and the few sets of clothes she had brought were now torn up by him.
"Joseph, you've torn them all. What am I supposed to wear tonight?"
Joseph fell silent for a moment and took out his phone to call Nathaniel, intending to ask him to buy some clothes. But the thought of those intimate clothes passing through the hands of another man made him inexplicably reluctant.
"I'll accompany you to buy them now."
"Are you crazy? I'm tired now and just want to rest at home." Cassie was extremely irritable.
Joseph frowned. "How did you, being a woman, become so uncivilized?"
After a pause, Joseph said irritably, "Forget it, I'll go buy them for you."
Cassie looked at Joseph with surprise.
"Don't think too much about it," Joseph said, "I'm not interested in you, I just don't want you to cheat on your husband, I would be embarrassed."
Joseph turned around and added, "By the way, I'm a little hungry, make me a late-night snack and I'll come over later to eat."
With that, he finally left.
Cassie rolled her eyes. Joseph was treating her like his personal chef. How presumptuous of him.
