Chapter 62
""I was afraid that you would think I spent too much because... I noticed that you usually prefer inexpensive clothes. There's nothing wrong with that. Being low-key and frugal is totally okay, and I understand that. It's just something I really like about you.""
She awkwardly squeezed out a smile, afraid of hurting his pride.
Joseph paused for a moment and realized that she meant his clothes were too cheap.
His expression immediately turned strange. ""Is your circle of high society this shallow?""
They didn't even understand the concept of ""custom-made brands.""
Were none of his clothes exceptional?
Cassie was at a loss.
""It's alright. You'll understand in the future."" Joseph sympathetically patted her head and walked into the room.
Cassie was completely puzzled. Why did he keep pinching her cheek and patting her head? It made them look like a young couple.
The next day, when Joseph came out of the changing room wearing the brown single-breasted suit she bought him, Cassie stared at him absentmindedly for a moment.
Although she had seen him wear various styles of suits before, there was a strange feeling in her heart because this one was bought by her.
There was some sweetness, as well as a sense of illusion.
As if, at that moment, he were her true husband.
Joseph glanced at her and felt unexpectedly good when he saw her dumbstruck expression.
Previously, he always felt that this brand wasn't as comfortable as the ones made specifically for him, but if she liked it, he could wear them reluctantly.
Just as they were about to leave, he suddenly remembered something. ""Didn't you buy anything for yourself yesterday?""
""No, I was too busy buying for you."" Cassie had a happy expression on her face, as if she was saying, ""I bought clothes for my beloved man.""
""I think you were too busy eating supper."" Joseph sneered, exposing her without mercy.
""Why do you have to say that?"" Cassie pretended to be embarrassed, her voice carrying a strong sense of coquettishness.
Joseph felt a tickle in his throat. He unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt and said, ""When you have time, take my card and buy a few clothes. Consider it as payment for your cooking and cleaning duties.""
After speaking, he left for the company.
In the law firm office, when Walter walked in and saw Joseph's clothes, he paused and said, ""Mr. Hernandez, your clothes...""
""Cassie bought them for me yesterday."" Joseph took out a document and started flipping through it.
Noah, who was standing by the door, heard this and said, ""Wow, it's rare to see you wearing clothes bought from the street.""
Joseph gave him a cold and menacing glance. ""As a law firm owner, are you so idle that you have to come to me every morning?""
""I'm not idle, but I feel uneasy if I don't see you for a day."" Noah playfully examined his suit. ""DG's limited edition. It's unusual for you to even consider such brands.""
A document was thrown directly at his face.
""Get lost!"" Joseph said.
""Alright, alright, don't get defensive. I came to talk to you about something. My grandfather is turning eighty tomorrow. Can you attend the party?"" Noah placed an invitation card on the table.
Joseph furrowed his brows. There seemed to be so many birthday parties lately.
""Oh, by the way, it's better to bring a female companion,"" Noah reminded. ""You know my sister. She's been longing for you for years. And my grandfather, he always wanted you as his son-in-law.""
Joseph rubbed his forehead. A female companion? Who should he bring?
Cassie?
While designing the villa plan, Cassie also pondered how to initiate sexual activity with Joseph.
""Should I prepare a candlelit dinner tonight? But how is his alcohol tolerance?"" she thought."
