Chapter 359

"Are we done here?"
The moment the words left his mouth, a swarm of police officers burst in from outside. "We received a call about a disturbance at Peace Group."
Clark was about to speak up, but Cassie quickly shoved Luna aside and, with tears in his eyes, approached the officers. "Officer, these people stormed into our office looking for trouble, and I even got hit with an egg in the face."

Luna screamed, "That's not true! She was the one with a knife, threatening to disfigure me. Arrest her, quickly!"

The police looked at Cassie, her face marked with injuries and reeking of egg, then at Luna, immaculately dressed without a scratch on her. The officer barked, "Who's disfiguring whom? Are you saying I'm blind?"

"Officer, please keep it down. This lady is from the Leo family, and that man is Clark from the Jayden family," Cassie said anxiously.

Clark, accustomed to arrogance, scoffed. "Which precinct are you from? I know your chief."

Cassie blinked in surprise. "I didn't know thugs were buddies with police chiefs these days. That's a new one."

The officer felt a pang of concern and snapped at Clark. "Our chief would never associate with people like you! I don't care who you are. Anyone causing trouble is getting arrested."

Soon after, the police escorted Clark and his party away.

"Officer, thank you so much. We really owe our safety to you," Cassie said gratefully, escorting them to the door.

Joel, witnessing the scene, sighed and called Joseph. Hearing the story, Joseph couldn't help but chuckle with delight.

He just adored her cunning ways. "Go say hello for me and keep those troublemakers locked up a bit longer, especially the woman who threw the egg at Cassie. Feed her a few more rotten eggs."

Joel reminded him with a sigh, "That lady is from the March family."

"What's the March family worth anyway?"

After his brash remark, Joel heard the click of a disconnecting call.

Once the police had left, Cassie felt the pain on her face intensifying and reluctantly drove back to the hospital.

In the dermatology ward, Dr. David was tending to Cassie's wounds when Lucas, in his pristine white coat, entered. "Make sure Miss Brooks gets the best treatment for her face, and fast. We can't have her left with any scars."

She was at a loss for words; Lucas seemed to have too much free time on his hands, always spotting her whenever she visited the hospital.

She had grown to resent Joseph and held no affection for his circle of friends. Birds of a feather flock together, and she was convinced his friends were no good either.

After her wound was treated, Cassie sighed in resignation. "Dr. Lucas, please go on with your duties; I should be leaving too."

"Don't 'Dr.' me; it's too formal, and I'm not that much older than you," Lucas said with a chuckle, "Besides, sooner or later, you and Joseph are going to tie the knot, which makes you my future sister-in-law."

His words felt blindingly ironic to her. "You've got the wrong person. You should be saying that to Luna."

"Luna?" Lucas watched her cold silhouette, clicking his tongue inwardly. Joseph was really messing up, pushing away a great woman. It might be the right time for him to step in to help. "You're out of the loop. Joseph doesn't care at all about Luna. He was even fired from the president position at Hernandez Group for supporting you."

She was taken aback.

Joseph was no longer the president of the Hernandez Group.

That seemed unbelievable.
