Chapter 944 Joseph Is Captured
Isaac's entire demeanor changed upon hearing the news.
"What happened to Richard?" he asked.
Yvonne, in tears, replied, "He went to a bar last night and ran into Dennis Chamberlain's wife. He got drunk and tried to flirt with her, and as a result, Dennis took him away with his men."
Isaac staggered back a few steps. Richard was his only son.
Celeste scolded, "Isaac, how on earth did you raise your son? The Hernandez family is already in trouble, and Richard still has the nerve to go to a bar and flirt with someone else's wife."
Isaac looked bewildered. "That can't be true. Yes, Richard was reckless and misbehaved in the past, but ever since he returned from Madison three years ago, he's changed a lot. He even started dating a decent girl recently."
"It's the Chamberlain family!" Yvonne choked out. "It must be a trap set by the Chamberlain family. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that Richard ran into Dennis's wife?"
Yvonne's words reminded the Hernandez family that Dennis was indeed Felix's cousin.
"Does the Chamberlain family have a grudge against us?" Isaac fumed. "Stealing our chip data was bad enough, but now they want to harm my son? This is not just ungrateful; it's downright despicable."
"Stop arguing. The priority now is to save Richard!" Yvonne sobbed uncontrollably. "Richard is covered in blood and seriously injured. I'm afraid he won't hold on much longer. Joseph, I'm begging you, please have Dragon's people find out where Richard has been taken."
"Yvonne, don't worry. I'll have someone look into it right away," he replied.
Joseph was deeply troubled. The company had unresolved issues; Walter was paralyzed, and now Richard was in trouble. It felt as if an invisible force was targeting the Hernandez family.
He was exhausted, but he knew that at this moment, the Hernandez family could only rely on him.
Soon, Dragon's people discovered that Richard had been taken to Dennis's villa.
Joseph led his men and stormed the villa. When they arrived, Richard was already lying on the ground, unconscious, his head and face covered in blood.
"Sorry, Mr. Hernandez, you're too late," Dennis said with a mocking smile, throwing a wad of cash onto Richard. "This is for medical expenses. I didn't want to pay, but I'm a law-abiding citizen. If I injure someone, I know I have to compensate them. Thirty thousand should be enough for his treatment."
"Dennis, how dare you speak to Mr. Hernandez like that? You're asking for trouble," Wyatt said coldly, reaching for Dennis.
But soon, a large group of men surrounded Joseph, Wyatt, and their team.
"Mr. Hernandez, you can't beat up my cousin," Felix said smugly as he walked in. "Richard flirted with my brother's wife first. Besides, in Whisperlyn City, Richard has a history of harming women. Even if this gets out, he deserves it."
"Richard has already turned over a new leaf. You set him up, didn't you?" Joseph's face darkened.
Once, Felix was nothing more than a clown in front of him, and Dennis was someone he wouldn't even look at. Now, they were all bullying the Hernandez family.
"Do you have any evidence to prove we set him up?" Felix retorted.
Felix smiled slyly. "But everyone knows that the Hernandez family has a penchant for flirting with other men's wives. Just like Mr. Hernandez, isn't it? Snatching someone else's bride—isn't it better when she's someone else's wife? Such a hobby is quite distasteful."
"Cassie has always been my woman," Joseph declared.
Joseph's tall figure advanced step by step towards Felix. His dark eyes were filled with a chilling intensity, and an invisible aura of menace emanated from him. Some people's nobility was innate, a quality Felix lacked.
As Joseph approached, Felix instinctively took two steps back, positioning the security guards in front of him.
"Joseph, what are you doing? I warn you, the Hernandez family is no longer what it used to be. From now on, the Chamberlain family will be the top family in Silverwood. The Hernandez family won't even rank second or third; you'll be relegated to the bottom tier of Whisperlyn City. Do you really think you're still the same Mr. Hernandez who can do whatever you want?"
Felix mocked loudly, "And by the way, snatching someone else's wife is illegal. How long do you think you can keep up this arrogance?"
Joseph's brow furrowed slightly. At that moment, a large group of police officers entered through the door.
A police officer surveyed the scene and then walked directly up to Joseph. "Joseph, David, and Aiden have reported you for kidnapping Cassie. Please come with us to the station for questioning."
"See, I was right." Felix gloated. "Silverwood's number one family is about to change."
Joseph cast a cold glance at Felix and suddenly understood. "What's your relationship with David?"
"Not much, really, we just have a common enemy." Felix raised an eyebrow. "Besides, if he doesn't seize this opportunity to get his wife back, he'd be a fool."
Joseph's sharp lips tightened. Although Felix's words made some sense, he felt things were much more complex. It was as if he had fallen into a massive whirlpool.
"Joseph, come with us," the police officer said, handcuffing him. "You kidnapped Cassie in broad daylight at the hotel, and no one has been able to contact her since. The evidence is clear. You'd better come to the station and tell us where Cassie is."
"Mr. Hernandez." Wyatt looked at Joseph with concern.
"Get Richard to the hospital immediately," Joseph ordered.
Joseph glanced at Richard, who lay in a pool of blood. He feared that even if Richard woke up after losing so much blood, he might never be the same again.
As he passed by Felix, Joseph cast a cold glance at him. "Felix, the person behind you is Marcus, isn't it? I won't let you get away with this."
That look made Felix's heart skip a beat, but he quickly regained his composure.
This time, the Hernandez family was truly finished. Not even Joseph could do anything about it.
Next, the Chamberlain family only had to deal with Dragon.
Wyatt quickly took Richard to the Nelson family hospital, where Isaac and Yvonne rushed over.
But after the emergency treatment, the doctor regretfully said, "The patient is temporarily out of life-threatening danger, but the brain injury is severe, and he lost a lot of blood. He was brought in too late. In the future, he might... become mentally impaired."
"M-Mentally impaired?" Yvonne fainted from the shock.
Isaac stood there, stunned. He never imagined that his only son would end up mentally impaired.
Mabel was also in despair. "Isaac."
"Shut up," he shouted. "This is all your fault. You insisted on supporting the Chamberlain family. You insisted on marrying Marcus. You helped those treacherous bastards rise to power, and you ruined Richard. I disown you as my sister."
Isaac slapped her hard across the face, his entire being consumed by rage.
