Chapter 205

"Joseph sauntered into the kitchen with his hands in his pockets.

Today, Cassie was in a sharp business suit that exuded a fierce aura. Yet now, with an apron tied around her waist, she tended to the simmering spaghetti for him. The warm glow of the kitchen lights highlighted her features, igniting an almost instinctual desire in him to conquer.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his head atop hers, ""Make extra. That little bit of spaghetti won't satisfy my appetite.""

""I'm already being generous cooking for you,"" Cassie shot back, nudging him with her elbow. ""If you want more, go chop some onions yourself.""

It was as if Joseph had heard something absurd. ""Are you actually daring to boss me around?""

After a moment's thought, Cassie reached into her pocket and handed him a card.
""What's this for?""

""There's fifty million dollars in here. It's for the legal fees from that case you fought for me..."" Cassie started to say but was immediately cut off by the suffocating chill in the air. The look in Joseph's eyes turned icy enough to cause frostbite.

""What are you getting at?"" Joseph pinched the card between two fingers, his gaze laced with sarcasm. ""Now that you're climbing the corporate ladder and you've got money, you want to cut ties with me?""

After snapping the card in two with a defiant gesture, he continued, ""No way, you signed the contract. No matter who you become in this lifetime, you have to stay right by my side, obedient and faithful.""

""Could you just let me finish...?"" Cassie stomped her foot in frustration as she watched the card get destroyed. ""I want to pay off my debt to you and then start over on equal footing. I refuse to be just your woman; I want to be your legitimate girlfriend.""

""What do you mean?"" Joseph frowned, puzzled.

Cassie took a deep breath. "" Since you represented me in that lawsuit and we signed the agreement, I’ve felt subservient to you, like a lover or servant, cautiously avoiding offending you. ""

""I hate that dynamic. If we're together, I want it to be like any normal couple.""

""When have I ever treated you as a servant? You've crossed the line plenty of times."" Joseph glared at her, failing to understand. ""So now you just want to give me money instead of cooking for me, is that it?""

Cassie was at a loss for words. ""Let me clarify—I'm offering fifty million to have that prenup torn up. I want to be your official girlfriend. To cook when I feel like it, to get mad when I want, to argue and not hold back.""

Joseph's chest heaved with fury, and he almost tossed the card into the fire.
Suddenly, she lunged forward and kissed him hard, then wrapped her arms around his neck and said earnestly, ""Joey, I don't know if you've dated before, but this is how normal relationships work. You're my dumping ground but also my honey jar. I love you and just want to love you equally.""

Her lips suddenly tasted as sweet as honey.

Joseph's anger dissipated as he looked at her beautiful face and hesitated before saying, ""We can tear up the agreement, but you don't have to give me the money. You're my woman. If I have to charge for every lawsuit I fight for you, what kind of man would I be?""

""But...""

""Shut up, or I'll have to punish you,"" Joseph threatened and playfully slapped her behind.

Cassie's cheeks blushed crimson, and she kicked him lightly, ""You jerk.""

""How am I a jerk? You're the one who wanted a normal relationship. This is normal for couples.""

Joseph smirked roguishly.

Cassie paused, then looked at him with a mix of annoyance and realization, ""Seems like you know the drill all too well. You must've been quite the ladies' man before.""
