Chapter 1626 Moving Out (Part 2)

Laura put down what she was holding, turned around, and wrapped her arms around his waist. "There's no way. If I keep living here and you keep doing this, we'll be found out sooner or later."

"What do you mean by 'this'?" Derek's muffled voice came from her neck.

"Just like this, like now." Laura blushed. "Every morning you find an excuse for me to come to your place, or you come over here after work. Sooner or later, someone will notice. If I move out, no one will be watching us all the time, and it'll be easier to date outside."

Derek looked at her for a moment and sighed softly. "But I often have to work overtime. Sometimes when I don't come back after work, my dad will know. If I go out frequently, they'll notice something."

Laura blinked. "Then what should we do? It's your fault for working with your dad."

"Yeah, I don't want to anymore, but I can't transfer out right away." Derek looked troubled.

Laura leaned against him for a while and sighed. "Forget it, so many people envy you."

"What's there to envy? Envy my overtime? Envy that I can't be with my girlfriend? Envy that when I miss my girlfriend..."

Derek bit her earlobe and whispered in a low voice, "When I miss you so much at night, I can only rely on myself."

Laura's mind felt like fireworks were exploding.

She blushed deeply, not knowing what to do. She tried to pinch his waist, but after a while, she realized there wasn't an ounce of fat to pinch.

"I have a good figure, don't I?" Derek lowered his head, brushing his nose against her smooth cheek, a hint of pride in his voice.

When he mentioned his figure, Laura remembered the lean waist she had seen a few mornings ago.

She couldn't help but pull his shirt out of his pants and lift it, touching his well-defined abs.

Derek's body tensed, and suddenly, with strong arms, he lifted her onto the desk. He unbuttoned his shirt completely. "Take a good look."

"Not interested anymore."

Laura's heart suddenly raced, and she tried to slip away. Derek pulled her back with one hand, lowered his head, and kissed her forcefully.

In the quiet study, her clothes were neat, but his shirt was open. The scene made Laura's hands feel hot and restless.

After a while, when she couldn't breathe from the kiss, she had to press her hands against his chest. "Alright, button up, or you'll catch a cold."

"You do it." Derek looked down at her hands, a suggestive smile on his lips. "I've never had a woman button my shirt before."

Derek's deep voice was incredibly seductive.

"Didn't your mom ever button your shirt?" Laura raised an eyebrow.

Derek coughed lightly and chuckled. "That was when I was a few years old. Since I grew up, no woman has buttoned my shirt."

"Well, it's my first time buttoning someone else's shirt too," Laura said defiantly.

Derek pursed his lips and watched her quietly with a smile.

Laura blushed under his gaze.

In the end, she gave in and seriously started buttoning his shirt.

She wasn't very skilled, and it took her a while to button each one.

When she finished, Derek hugged her waist and kissed her again, murmuring, "Baby, I love you."

Laura didn't understand why he was so excited over just buttoning a shirt.

But being held and told "I love you" so tenderly made her blood boil.

As they kissed, she felt something cool around her neck. She looked down and saw that Derek had put a diamond necklace on her.

"You..."

"A gift for you." Derek kissed her forehead. "We've been together for so long, and I haven't given you anything."

"That's not true. You often buy gifts for Maeve."

"That doesn't count. It's my duty to buy gifts for my daughter. Buying gifts for you is also a given."

Laura was deeply moved. Maeve wasn't even his daughter, yet he said such things.

He truly loved her.

But she was still so timid and cowardly.

"When are you planning to move? I'll take you to your new home," Derek said.

"I'm planning to move tomorrow, Sunday. My parents will move to Whisperlyn City the day after tomorrow, and we'll have dinner together."

"Alright, I'll take the opportunity to take you there and stay for dinner, okay?" Derek cupped her face and asked.

"You're not working in the afternoon?"

"I can leave a bit early on Sunday afternoon."

For the next two days, Laura was busy packing.

By Sunday afternoon, Derek got off work at four and came over to help her move her luggage into the moving truck.

Arabella would also come to help take care of Maeve for a while. Once Rose and Maeve got used to each other, Arabella would return to the Presidential Palace, as she was part of the Presidential Palace staff.

The Miller family's villa wasn't far from the Presidential Palace, just a forty-minute drive.

The area was full of villas, and the neighborhood had excellent security.

When Laura arrived at her new home, Luke and Rose were already there.

The Miller family's villa had three floors. Elliott lived on the third floor, Laura on the second, and Luke and Rose on the first.

The first floor also had a large playroom filled with toys.

Maeve loved it as soon as she walked in.

Derek carried Laura's large suitcase to the second-floor bedroom. He noticed that Elliott was really good to Laura.

This room was probably the best bedroom in the whole house, facing the villa's garden, with over 500 square feet, a walk-in closet, and even bed rails to prevent Maeve from falling off at night.

"Wow, this bedroom is beautiful." Laura looked around. She had been in Whisperlyn City for so long, and this was the first time she truly felt at home.

"Yes, it's really nice and big. It'll be perfect for two people in the future," Derek agreed, nodding.

Laura glared at him. "What do you mean?"

Derek blinked and said, "I mean, after we get married, it'll be perfect for the two of us."

"In your dreams."

Laura glared at him, her eyes wide.

"I am dreaming." Derek said with a hint of sadness, "You don't want to get married now, so I can only dream. But if I don't dream about these things, then I'm a bad man."

After all, a man who doesn't think about marriage and only wants to fool around is a bad man.

Laura huffed and had nothing to say.
