Chapter 1741 Sarah Makes a Comeback
"Where is she?" Lucas asked his assistant, turning to face him.
The assistant's expression was complicated. "Mr. Yancy Nelson had someone reach out to Sarah, but she refused. She even went to the police station and hasn't left since."
Lucas smirked coldly, realizing Sarah was hiding out at the police station. Even if he wanted to send someone to grab her, there was nothing he could do.
Yancy snapped, "Lucas, you can be as heartless and indifferent as you want, but you can't just watch your mother die."
Lucas didn't bother responding and dialed Sarah's number.
"Lucas," Sarah's soft voice came through.
"You're something else," Lucas laughed. "You knew to hide in the police station. Sarah, can you stay there forever?"
Sarah gritted her teeth, "I have no choice. I can't get any work done now, and everywhere I go, people mock me. Lucas, if you want me to save your mother, you can't expect me to do it for free."
"You still haven't learned your lesson, daring to threaten me," Lucas said coldly.
"Lucas, I'm just a minor character to you. I admit, I shouldn't have let Olivia meet your parents before, but I didn't know what she and Megan were up to."
Sarah choked up, "I know I was wrong. From now on, I'll listen to you. I don't mind if you want to see other women, okay?"
"You think you can come back to me?" Lucas sneered. "Do you deserve it?"
Sarah was deeply hurt. "I admit I'm not as pretty as Bernice, but my blood is more valuable than hers, isn't it?"
"This time, you're a bit smarter," Lucas said with a cold smile. "But it's unlikely you'll come back to me. Even if you stood naked in front of me, I wouldn't be interested. I gave you a chance before, but you were too greedy. I won't beat around the bush, Sarah. I'll give you one last chance. If you force me to marry you, I have a thousand ways to torment you after we're married. If you have the guts, stay in the police station."
Sarah's face turned pale.
She wasn't stupid.
After weighing her options for a while, she gritted her teeth, "I want a career, I want resources. You have to make me the best actress, and then I'll be willing to be your mother's mobile blood bank."
"Deal."
Lucas said calmly, "Come over right now."
Over ten minutes later, Sarah was urgently brought to the hospital.
When Sarah saw Lucas's breathtakingly handsome face in the hallway, she felt a bit excited but also shivered at his cold gaze.
"Sarah, come in quickly," Yancy hurriedly led her inside.
After Sarah went in, Yancy finally relaxed but still looked at Lucas with displeasure.
"Look at you. If you had married Sarah back then, none of this would have happened," Yancy said angrily. "Aren't you a playboy? Having one more woman at home who can save your mother's life, what harm does Sarah do to you? Can Bernice give your mother a blood transfusion?"
"Contact me when Mom is okay," Lucas said expressionlessly, hands in his pockets, as he walked away.
Yancy was furious, wondering how he had raised such a cold and heartless son.
In the morning, Bernice had a brand shoot and only had time to join the crew in the afternoon.
Before shooting, the makeup artist was applying makeup to her in the lounge.
Cecilia personally brought over two cups of milk coffee. "Bernice, I got milk coffee for everyone. This is for you and your assistant.""Thanks."
Bernice thought milk coffee was too high in calories and didn't like it, but since Cecilia was treating, she couldn't refuse, even though she didn't like Cecilia.
After delivering the milk coffee, Cecilia didn't leave immediately but sat on the sofa behind them. "Bernice, have you watched 'Singing Sensation Show'?"
"No time to watch, but I've heard of it," Bernice replied indifferently.
The makeup artist chimed in, "The 'Singing Sensation Show' is quite popular. I heard the songs they cover often make it to the top ten charts. It's very well-received."
"Exactly," Cecilia pouted. "Before I started acting, I was an idol. The company promised to push me to be a guest on that show, giving me two or three appearances. But today, I got the news that the company pushed Sarah to be a guest instead. It infuriates me."
Everyone in the industry knew about Sarah and Lucas's relationship. The makeup artist had just learned yesterday that Bernice was with Lucas.
Now that Sarah's resources were back, the makeup artist didn't dare to say anything.
Bernice responded indifferently, "Is that so?"
Cecilia had come to provoke Bernice on purpose, but seeing her indifferent attitude, she felt even more unwilling and said, "Bernice, you might not know, but I heard the company executives had a meeting today to push Sarah's comeback. The first step is to restore her reputation on the 'Singing Sensation Show.' Her plagiarism scandal was a long time ago, and online users have short memories. I guess the next step is to have her star in a TV series or movie. The company already has a lot of people, and resources are limited."
She paused, then covered her mouth with a strange smile, "Anyway, it won't affect you, Bernice. I'm just surprised. Wasn't she blacklisted by Mr. Nelson? Bernice, do you know anything about this?"
"No idea."
Bernice's expression didn't change. "Cecilia, you seem very curious. How about I call Mr. Nelson and tell him you're curious?"
"I'm not that curious. I was just saying. You take your time with your makeup; I'll be going now."
Cecilia was afraid Bernice would call Lucas, so she quickly left.
After the makeup artist finished and left, Bernice called Fiona, "Fiona, is the company arranging for Sarah's comeback?"
"That's right," Fiona said reluctantly. "I was just about to tell you. The period drama the company was planning to give you is now being reserved for Sarah by her agent."
Bernice's expression changed slightly. "You should know I was planning to use that drama to transition."
In this industry, no matter how well she acted or how popular she was, she was always cast in idol dramas. Last year, she had finally made a mark in the film industry with a movie. She planned to star in a period drama to gain more recognition for her acting skills.
Actors who starred in period dramas were usually labeled as talented, and even as they aged, they wouldn't have to worry about not getting roles.
Fiona sighed, "I said the same thing, but Sarah's agent argued that her image isn't as good as before. No one wants to see her in idol dramas or big movies. A period drama is the best option for her. Her acting might be lacking, but Mr. Jenkins said they'd pay for her to take acting classes."
