Chapter 1506 Holding Hands

"Really?" Laura leaned in, resting her chin on her hand, eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, are you a top or a bottom?"

Derek paused for a long while before snapping, "Never done it with a man."

He shot Laura a secretive glare.

"Got it." Laura nodded, half getting it. "Honestly, you shouldn't try it. Your butt would hurt like hell."

Derek was at a loss for words.

Seeing his face darken, Laura kept going, "Seriously, I'm not making this up. I'm a woman, I know these things. My first time was super painful. If it’s you guys, it’d be way worse."

Derek was fuming.

Why did he have to sit here and listen to her talk about her first time?

It was really getting on his nerves.

Laura pressed on, "Really, I'm speaking from experience."

"Shut up." Derek cut her off, covering her mouth with one hand.

His hand was big and warm, with a faint scent of plum. It was oddly nice.

Just as Laura was wondering why his hand smelled like plum, he squeezed her cheeks.

There was a traffic jam ahead, and Derek glanced at her, noticing how his hand squished her face, making her lips pout cutely.

He released his fingers and found it quite pleasant. So he did a few more times.

"What are you doing?" Laura pushed his hand away, glaring at him with her big eyes.

"Your face is soft, it's fun to touch," Derek said with a straightforward grin.

Laura quickly jumped back in, "Right? Us women always have soft faces, unlike you guys."

Derek was speechless. "Can you change a subject?"

"I'm just being honest," Laura replied.

Derek didn't say anything, just gave her a look.

By six in the evening, the city lights were starting to twinkle.

When the car finally stopped at an amusement park, Laura broke the silence by asking, "This is the place that's supposed to make me happy?"

"Been here before?" Derek got out and opened the passenger door for her.

Laura shook her head, shrinking back in the seat, "This place is super popular, but I'm too chicken for the scary rides."

"No worries, we can stick to the tame ones." Derek extended his hand towards her.

Laura took his hand.

He pulled her out of the car and led her to the entrance.

Even though it was evening, the place was packed with groups of friends and young couples. The weather was a bit chilly, and everyone was bundled up, sticking close together.

Laura felt a bit overwhelmed by the lively scene.

Back in college, she had often gone out to have fun with friends like this, but since they set off for their own career, they became too busy to do this as often as they had done it in their good old days.

Even though Laura was in the prime of her life, the past few years had made her feel much older.

Now, standing here, Laura felt like she was back in her teenage years.

Beautiful, impulsive, with endless possibilities ahead.

She even forgot she was still holding Derek's hand.

"Hold on tight, there are too many people. Don't get lost," Derek reminded her, glancing back.

"Okay." Laura nodded, then looked down at their intertwined hands, her heart skipping a beat.

They weren't related by blood. Was this too intimate?

But there were a lot of people around.

"Watch out."

Suddenly, a very large man squeezed by, and Derek pulled her close. Laura lost her balance and bumped into his chest.

Derek's firm chest made her nose hurt a bit, but she realized how tall he was and how safe she felt with him.

"Did you get hurt?" Derek asked, touching her nose.

"No." Laura awkwardly moved to the side, sneaking a glance at Derek. He looked calm, like it was no big deal.

Laura couldn't help but think Derek probably saw her as a friend, while she might be overthinking it.

"Let's go in." Derek kept holding her hand as they walked inside.

After they checked the tickets, Laura finally saw the park's night view clearly. It looked like a fairy tale world, and she couldn't help but say, "I should have brought Maeve here."

"Maeve's too young. She wouldn't get it. We can bring her when she can walk," Derek said.

Laura nodded, not even questioning why it was with him that she would bring Maeve here.

"There's an ice cream shop over there. Want some? I heard it's really good," Derek pointed to a place with a long line.

Laura was tempted but frowned, "The line's too long."

"It's okay, I'll wait. You can check out that little shop over there. They have a lot of cute stuff." Derek pointed to a window on the left.

Laura nodded. After separating from Derek, she went inside and found that the items were indeed quite nice.

She picked out two small toys for Maeve and a scarf for herself. Finally, she glanced outside at Derek, who was still in line, and picked out a men's scarf for him.

After she finished shopping, Derek came over with two ice creams.

She took one and had a small bite. It was cold but really tasty.

"Just eat half, don't finish it all. It's cold now, and eating too much will give you a stomachache," Derek reminded her.

She agreed, but once she started eating, she couldn't stop and insisted on finishing it all.

"No, you just had a baby not long ago. Eating too much cold stuff is bad for you." Seeing she wouldn't listen, Derek simply took what was left of her ice cream and ate it himself.

"Derek, you're too much." Laura jumped up and playfully hit him.
