Chapter 301

"Eight o'clock in the morning
Cassie yawned as she walked into the villa.

Luna, having breakfast, immediately stood up and exclaimed, ""Dad, see, I told you she went out last night. She did the same thing before and didn’t come home all night. What sort of decent family's daughter is out so frequently? I bet she's up to no good out there.""

Cassie glanced at her with a faintly amused look, silently scoffing. If it weren't for her inability to keep her boyfriend interested, she wouldn't need to attend to the so-called lord in the middle of the night.

""Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong?"" Luna retorted, standing her ground.

""Yeah, you did get it wrong. After all, you yourself keep referring to me as some hillbilly or illegitimate daughter,"" Cassie quipped with a slight smile and then turned her attention away, gracefully beginning her breakfast at the table.

""Dad, did you hear what she just said?"" Luna started to complain.

""Enough, Luna. I trust Cassie; she's engaged, after all,"" Leo interrupted with a stern face. ""Besides, you used to stay out all night with your friends, too, so you're one to talk.""

Luna’s face flushed with embarrassment and anger. She stomped her foot and said, ""Dad, you're just being biased.""
Suddenly, Vera's cell phone rang, and she picked it up, only to leap in anger. ""What? The lot went to Peace Group again?! What's the deal? Didn't you say Joseph put in a word for us?""

Cassie choked down her sandwich in shock. By the time Vera hung up, her ire was directed at her. ""Cassie, what on earth did you do? How could you let Peace Group snatch up the coastal plot?""

""No way!"" Luna was also startled. ""Can anyone dare to cross Joseph?""

""Your uncle called me personally and said they changed their minds,"" Vera pressed, staring at her. ""Cassie, you're a newcomer with no real connections besides your dad. Don't tell me you did something scandalous last night. A land deal is one thing, but don't bring shame to our the Chapman family.""

Hearing this, Leo frowned at Cassie. He didn't want to believe it, but the situation was too peculiar to overlook.

Cassie looked up calmly. ""Are you implying that I went out and got the land after a sleepless night? Then tell me, who should I have been with?""

She gave a wry smile. ""Who has the gall to oppose Joseph? You might be better off wondering if Luna offended Joseph somehow or if he's dissatisfied with her. There must be a reason why he withdrew his support.""

With that, she wiped her hands, having finished eating, and stood up to go upstairs to change.

Leo lost his appetite too and stood up, saying, ""You and your daughter are always causing trouble.""

With that, he left.

Fuming, Vera turned to Luna. ""What's going on with Joseph?""

""I'm not sure; he rarely takes my calls,"" Luna replied thoughtfully. ""I'll go find him.""

---

Upstairs on the balcony, Cassie watched Luna's car drive away. After a moment of hesitation, she sent a Whatsapp message to Joseph: ""About the land... You didn’t help Jayden's family, right?""

After sending it, she became tense suddenly. Honestly, she hadn't planned to ask him, but she didn't expect him not to support Luna.

But now, the prospect of reclaiming the land had her excited.

Five minutes later, Joseph replied: ""Hmm.""

Cassie: ""Thank you.""

Joseph: ""If you want to thank me, just keep taking care of me.""

Cassie's face turned red. She took a deep breath and replied: ""The deal was almost sealed until you interfered. You jerk! I'm already being nice by not cursing you out.""

With that, she tossed her phone aside, choosing to ignore him."
