Chapter 957 Used to His Scent

Aiden said, "The March family wants to buy the Hernandez House for cheap. With the Chamberlain family backing them, all the big families in Whisperlyn City are just waiting for the drama."

Cassie felt more and more disgusted by these wealthy families in Whisperlyn City as she listened.

"Sophia's been wronged. You shouldn't have let her go back to the Hernandez family in the first place," Aiden sighed. "Don't overthink it. Just live well with David from now on, and don't let him down."

"Okay," Cassie said, lowering her head.

By dinner time, David drove over. When he saw Sophia, he happily picked her up. "Sophia, how about coming to my house with your mommy tomorrow?"

"Okay," Sophia replied calmly, feeling that David's house wasn't her home. "Mommy, are you moving to David's place?"

"Sophia, go have dinner with Oliver first," Cassie said.

After finding an excuse to send Sophia away, David looked at Cassie tenderly. "What's wrong?"

"David, I might... delay moving in for a few days," Cassie explained with a troubled expression. "The reason I could bring Sophia over today is that I promised Joseph I wouldn't take her to live with you. I'm sorry, but I can't ignore Sophia. The Hernandez family has had a lot of issues lately, and no one is there to be with Sophia. She's too lonely."

"Never mind," David said with a smile, patting Cassie's head. "If you can't move in, I'll move over. When Sophia goes back to the Hernandez family, you can come with me."

Cassie was stunned.

"You wouldn't be unwelcome to me, would you?" David suddenly raised an eyebrow.

"No," Cassie said, a bit flustered. "It's just that with two kids in bed, it might be a bit crowded."

"No problem. I can sleep in the guest room," David said, not making things difficult for her.

Cassie nodded.

"But... you can't always just be with the kids and not me," David said, wrapping his arms around her, his tone intimate. "Cassie, I'm your husband."

"Okay." Cassie's face turned red with awkwardness.

Especially when David hugged her tightly, the faint masculine scent from him made Cassie inexplicably think of Joseph's scent.

Before getting married, Cassie didn't mind David hugging her.

However, in the past month, being with Joseph every day, she had slowly gotten used to Joseph's scent as he particularly liked kissing and holding her.

As this thought flashed through her mind, Cassie shivered. She told herself inwardly, 'I can't think about him anymore.'

"Cassie, when are you going to the police station?" David suddenly asked. "The case of Joseph kidnapping you isn't over yet."

Cassie felt a headache coming on. She now understood the difficulties of a second marriage with kids.

"David, I... I don't plan to press charges. Sophia's household registration is with the Hernandez family. If Joseph goes to jail, Sophia will be left without support. You probably don't know that Liam is missing."

This time, David's usually gentle face froze. "Cassie, have you thought about what people will say if you don't press charges? They'll accuse you of cheating during our marriage, and they might think you can't get over Joseph. I'll be ridiculed too. Can't you consider me a little bit?"

Cassie rarely saw David so angry and was at a loss. "But I also have to think about Sophia's future."

"I think you haven't really gotten over Joseph," David said painfully. "Cassie, during the month you were missing, my biggest worry wasn't that you had a relationship with Joseph but that you might fall for him again. No matter what I do, you always overlook me."

David took two steps back, let out a bitter laugh, and turned away.

Oliver and Sophia ran over. "Mommy, why did David leave again? Did you fight?"

"Go have dinner," Cassie said gently, bending down.

But deep in her eyes, Cassie was very tired.

In the next two days.

Joseph mobilized all Dragon members to search for Liam, but they found nothing, as if Liam had completely disappeared from the world.

"Mr. Hernandez, we've checked the train stations, airports, and highways, but there's no record of Liam. Even hospitals in other cities have no record of Liam," Wyatt reported with a frown. "Currently, there are only two possibilities: either Liam is being held somewhere, or... he's dead."

Joseph sat in the leather chair, and his heart sank. "Is he dead?"

He said to himself inwardly, 'Not happening. Liam is a tough guy; he couldn't be dead.'

Joseph trembled as he took out a cigarette and lit it, his hands shaking.
"Wyatt, you were the last person to see Liam. When you left, was there anyone else around?" Joseph suddenly roared.

Wyatt's body shook. The only person he knew was Athena in the car, but Athena had no reason to harm Liam as she had no grudge against him.

"No, Mr. Hernandez." As soon as Wyatt finished speaking, Mabel rushed into the office.

"Joseph, Marcus just called me. He said he couldn't reach Liam. Marcus found out you took Liam to Dragon. Did you lock Liam up?" Mabel asked.

Joseph's body stiffened. His worst fear had come true. "Mom, I beat Liam up three days ago and sent him away."

Mabel was stunned. "If he really betrayed the Hernandez House, you were right to beat him. But we can't reach him now."

Joseph was silent for a long time.

Mabel grew increasingly uneasy and looked at Wyatt.

Wyatt lowered his head and said, "We left Liam in a remote alley in the north of the city. We haven't found any trace of him, although Mr. Hernandez has been looking for him these past few days."

Mabel took two steps back in despair. After all, Liam was her own child. "Liam couldn't disappear. Joseph, did you want to kill him and make up this lie?"

"I didn't." Joseph felt a chill, but Mabel rushed over to slap him.

"I understand why you hate Liam. I wouldn't stop you from beating him, but you can't kill him. He is your brother." Mabel started crying bitterly. "Liam is still young. He went astray because I didn't educate him well. Why did you have to kill him?"

"Mabel, Mr. Hernandez really didn't kill Liam," Wyatt explained.
