Chapter 1738 You Ignore Me, I’ll Pay Attention to You
"Do you really hate Lucas that much?"
Cassie set down her teacup, genuinely curious. Lucas wasn't exactly a saint—arrogant, a bit of a playboy, and cold. But he was rich and handsome, probably the best-looking guy in all of Madison.
Even her old friend Nina had once been head over heels for him.
She'd heard countless stories about Lucas's romantic escapades; women were crazy about him.
People say the worse a guy is, the more women love him, and there's some truth to that.
Bernice let out a mocking laugh, "Sure, he's good-looking, but don't you think he's a total sleaze?"
Cassie was speechless.
"Besides, do you think any woman could ever win Lucas's heart?" Bernice said flatly. "He's nothing like Joseph. To him, women are just toys."
No one knew how, at eighteen, when she offered him her true feelings, he had stomped all over them.
"Nina, I didn't think you were that dumb. A little sweet talk and you gave me your first time."
"You say you're so easy, was it really your first time?"
"Honestly, I regret sleeping with you. You were like a dead fish, so boring."
Those words, even after being reborn, she remembered them clearly.
Bernice closed her eyes, hiding the pain and hatred within.
Cassie sensed her desperate struggle and felt a pang of sadness. If it were anyone else, she could apply pressure, but Lucas was too deeply hidden. He never gave in to anyone's threats. "There is a way."
Bernice was slightly taken aback. "What is it?"
"I heard from Joseph that Lucas always dumped those women because they were too greedy. Men have a twisted mindset; the more you resist and struggle, the more they want you. Once a woman falls in love with him, clings to him, or wants more, he gets bored and loses interest."
Cassie smiled, "You could suddenly start pleasing him, then find ways to get money and resources from him, maybe even marry him. That way, he would naturally distance himself from you, get bored with you, and think you're just like those ordinary actresses."
Bernice was stunned.
She remembered what Lucas had said to her on set today.
He said he wasn't tired of her yet, and the more she acted like a dead fish, the more he wanted to conquer her.
She had thought about simply being obedient to Lucas so he would get bored with her sooner, but she really hated Lucas and instinctively resisted such things.
Especially the idea of pleasing Lucas, it was as disgusting as eating a fly.
"I know your personality," Cassie said. "But if you keep this up, Lucas might drag this out for years. Men don't care, but women are different. And if it drags on too long and you get pregnant, it would be a disaster."
Joseph also said that with Lucas's personality, he might not marry Bernice.
The Nelson family wouldn't agree either.
"I'll think about it."
Bernice's mind was in turmoil.
If she were to please Lucas in that way, her body would have to be able to handle it first.
Every time Lucas touched her, it was painful and unbearable.
Even she felt like a dead fish.
She sat in the car for a long time before finally dialing a number.
The man on the other end of the line angrily shouted, "Bernice, are you crazy? Do you think taking that stuff is good for your body?""I have no choice." Bernice gripped the phone tightly. "If I don't make Lucas hate me, he won't let me go."
"I told you I could find a way to get you and your mom out of here. Don't worry about those people."
"Those subordinates helped me before; I can't just ignore their lives," Bernice said bitterly. "Besides, where could I go? With this face, many people abroad recognize me."
"I'm begging you," Bernice said softly.
"Fine."
The man on the other end was silent for a long time before finally agreeing.
After hanging up, the man standing on the balcony punched the wall hard.
The moonlight outlined his cold features.
He swore that one day he would make Lucas lose everything.
An hour later, a small bottle of medicine was delivered to Bernice.
She took the medicine and went to Crystal Heights Estates.
This was one of the most expensive neighborhoods in all of Whisperlyn City.
Lucas's house was on the best floor of the building, overlooking the most bustling area of Whisperlyn City.
When Bernice opened the door and went in, she saw Lucas sitting at the bar, talking on the phone. "Find this person as soon as possible. I want all his information. Bye."
Lucas put down his phone and beckoned Bernice over with a finger.
Bernice hesitated for two seconds, then took off her bag and walked over.
"Back so late?" Lucas pulled her into his arms and lightly bit her earlobe. "Where did you go? Emery said you left early today."
"Went to have barbecue with Cassie." She instinctively wanted to turn her face away, but today she forced herself to endure it.
Lucas's sharp nose sniffed her hair. "You do smell like barbecue."
"I'll go take a shower," Bernice said, trying to pry his hand away.
"What's the rush? I didn't say it smelled bad." Lucas raised an eyebrow, his magnetic voice filled with charm. "I haven't showered either. Let's shower together later."
Bernice's face stiffened slightly.
Every time they showered together, it was never just a shower. By the end, she was always exhausted.
"What kind of expression is that?" Lucas turned her face, his well-defined fingers caressing her soft, smooth skin. "You don't want to shower with me?"
"Is that a normal shower?" Bernice glared at him.
Unbeknownst to her, Bernice was so beautiful that even her glares were seductive.
Lucas rarely saw her like this and was instantly intrigued. His handsome lips curled into a teasing smile. "Then tell me, how is it not a normal shower?"
"I'm not bothering with you."
Bernice broke free from his arms and turned to leave.
"If you don't bother with me, I'll bother with you."
Lucas grabbed her waist, turned her face, and kissed her from her cheek to her lips.
The familiar warmth entered her mouth, and Bernice felt nauseous, but this time she forced herself to endure it until Lucas carried her to the bar.
"Wait, didn't you say we were going to shower?" Bernice thought Lucas was a man whose sexual desires were never satisfied. Even though he had tormented her for so long on set this afternoon, he still had so much energy.
"We can have sex now and also in the shower," Lucas answered between kisses.
"I don't like this." Bernice hurriedly pushed him away; she hadn't taken the medicine yet.
