Chapter 1604 All Lies
At this point, all Megan could think of was to get out of there quickly. The commotion between the two men was so loud that if hotel staff or security came in, it would be a big problem.
She hurriedly tried to find her clothes, but as soon as she stepped out of the bedroom, a large group of reporters burst into the suite.
"Isn't this Mrs. Megan Jude?" The leading reporter quickly recognized Megan and immediately started taking pictures frantically.
"Don't come in, no photos!" Megan screamed hysterically, trying to find clothes to put on. However, the reporters blocked her way, leaving her no choice but to cover herself and retreat back to the bedroom, diving under the covers.
But the reporters had already captured everything they needed. After photographing Megan, they turned their cameras to Michael and Landon, who were still fighting.
"What are you doing? Who let you in? Get out!" Michael was furious and momentarily forgot about Landon.
Although Michael wanted nothing more than to kill these two bastards, he didn't want the reporters to capture and expose the scene, letting the whole world know that Megan had betrayed their marriage.
But such explosive news was something the reporters wouldn't miss.
Not only did the reporters not leave, but they also pressed forward. "Michael, is this your wife betraying your marriage? Were you just fighting with the man your wife was with?"
"Michael, is this the man who slept with your wife?"
"Michael, we heard Megan was your first love. How does it feel to be betrayed by her after loving her for over a decade?"
The last question hit Michael hard, causing him to lose the last bit of his sanity.
"Shut up! I told you to shut up, didn't you understand?"
Michael punched the reporter and smashed his camera.
"Why are you hitting people? We're just doing our job."
The reporters were also unhappy, and a scuffle broke out between them and Michael in the bedroom.
Landon took the opportunity to grab Megan, who was wrapped in a blanket, and escape from the suite.
"Stop!" Michael wanted to chase after them but was held back by the reporters.
Unable to break free, he started fighting in desperation.
In the end, the hotel had no choice but to call the police, who took everyone involved to the station.
Meanwhile, James had just finished lunch when he heard that Michael had been taken to the police station after fighting with reporters at the hotel. Furious but helpless, he called Caroline to go to the station with him.
The police chief personally greeted James. "I'm so glad you're here. Michael caused a scene at the hotel and assaulted reporters. I'm at my wit's end."
"What exactly happened?" James asked coldly.
The chief hesitated before sighing. "Michael hasn't explained the situation. I had to ask the hotel manager and the reporters to find out. Apparently, Michael's wife was having sex with a man in the suite. Michael used a key card to get in and started fighting with the man. Reporters got wind of it and rushed over. The door was open, so they went in to interview. The reporters can be annoying, but the problem is everyone says Michael started the fight."
"Megan was having sex with another man?" Caroline was shocked and looked extremely upset.
"Yes," the chief nodded. "We asked the hotel manager. The man involved is Landon from Cascade Dynamics Group. After the incident, he took Megan and fled."
"That can't be true." Caroline, despite her dislike for Megan, felt humiliated by the idea of Megan having an affair.
"It seems to be true," the chief said reluctantly. "We reviewed the footage from the reporters' cameras. It's quite explicit."
Everyone was smart enough to understand without further explanation.
James struggled to control his emotions. At his age and with his status, he was usually calm in the face of any situation, but now he couldn't hide his cold expression. "Delbert Loomis, how many reporters are there? The Jude family is willing to compensate them. Also, I hope you can help us keep this matter from blowing up."
"Mr. James Jude, I understand. As soon as I heard what happened, I had people suppress the news. However, the hotel was very crowded, and the commotion was significant. It will definitely spread. I can ensure it won't make the news, and the videos won't be released."
"Thank you."
James had no other options. All he could do now was minimize the damage.
"You're welcome. Follow me. Once the paperwork is done, you can take Michael home."
James had his secretary handle the paperwork. Within ten minutes, Michael was released. His face was bruised, his hair disheveled, and his clothes torn in several places.
Seeing James, Michael urgently said, "Dad, let me use your phone. I need to make a call."
James looked at Michael with a blank expression. If he weren't so old and if they weren't at the police station, he would have slapped Michael right then and there.
"Dad, please, I need to stop Megan from escaping," Michael pleaded.
"No need to call. I've already arranged for people to track her. She won't be able to leave Whisperlyn City."
James turned and walked towards the station's exit. Caroline followed with a cold expression. The couple had never felt so humiliated in their lives. Caroline even regretted not kicking Michael out of the house earlier and wondered why they had taken him back.
Michael bit his lip and reluctantly followed.
During his time in the cell, he had thought a lot, growing colder with each thought.
If he hadn't seen Megan with his own eyes and heard her words, he might never have doubted her true nature.
He suddenly realized he might never have truly known Megan.
In her eyes, he was a useless man.
She could easily say "I love you" to another man. To him, it was probably all lies.
It was very likely that Megan had never loved him. Many of her words were false, and he had been played. He had even abandoned Laura and Maeve for her.
As they left the station, a Bentley pulled up in front of James.
James opened the car door, and Michael followed with his head down. "Dad, you and Mom go home first. I'm not going back."
"Get in the car. I have questions for you, and don't think about hiding anything. This matter has blown up; I'll find out sooner or later." James got in first.
Michael hesitated but eventually got in.
"What is your current situation?" James asked. "Last time, you borrowed money from me to get a divorce, didn't you?"
