Chapter 51 Came into my bed

Joseph sat up. The moonlight from outside shone in, and he could vaguely see Cassie curled up on the floor, her hands tightly covering her ears, her body trembling violently.

"Cassie, wake up, you're having a nightmare." Joseph got out of bed and pried her hands away.

However, Cassie was completely immersed in her nightmare, shivering in fear, her face growing paler by the second.

Joseph had to pull her into his chest, gently patting her shoulder and soothing her softly.

"Don't be afraid, it's okay now." Joseph's voice gradually calmed her.

Her small face pressed against his chest, strands of hair falling on her shoulders and cheeks, making her look pitiful. She had a faint, pleasant scent, not from perfume but from the shampoo they had at home.

He never realized the shampoo at home smelled this good.

Amidst this fragrance, Joseph tiredly closed his eyes.

He had planned to put her down once she was sleeping soundly, but when he opened his eyes again, it was already daylight outside.

They were lying side by side on the pillow, Cassie half-sprawled on his chest, sleeping contentedly with a serene smile on her lips.

Joseph didn't feel any discomfort; in fact, he had a fleeting illusion that they were a sweet, newlywed couple.

After a moment of daze, he gently lifted the blanket to move away, but when he saw what was under the blanket, the blood rushed to his head.

Cassie's pajama buttons were undone, with only the bottom two still fastened.

Early in the morning, and being a normal man, he was quite stimulated.

Just then, Cassie groggily opened her eyes, and their eyes met.

When she realized she was lying in Joseph's arms, she screamed and quickly scrambled away, hiding to one side. "Why are you in my bed?"

Joseph laughed, exasperated. "Come on, you were the one crying and clinging to me because of your nightmare. I was trying to comfort you."

"You comfort me?" Cassie found it unbelievable.

Joseph's face darkened. "What do you mean by that, Cassie? Don't turn the tables on me. You better come clean. Did you do this on purpose last night to get my attention?"

"I don't know what you're talking about. I slept just fine after that." She seemed to have had a nightmare at first. A gentle voice whispered in her ear, making her less afraid.

She thought to herself, 'Wait, could that gentle voice have been Joseph?'

She stared at him in a daze, but Joseph couldn't stand it anymore. He stood up, his eyes darker than usual. "Before you say anything else, check your pajama buttons."

Cassie looked down in a daze, and when she saw her chest, she blushed furiously and quickly covered herself.

Joseph scoffed, "You're quite a drama queen. Clearly, you unbuttoned them yourself to seduce me."

"I'm innocent," Cassie said, almost in tears, "They came undone on their own. I can't help it because I have a great figure."

Joseph recalled the scene he had just witnessed and found himself at a loss for words.
