Chapter 1693 Darling

5:30 PM.

Julia left work half an hour early and drove to a nearby supermarket.

When she reached the seafood section, she took a photo, intending to send it to Elliott, but then remembered she hadn't added him on Facebook.

She had no choice but to call him, "What do you want for dinner? I'm at the supermarket. They have fish and shrimp here."

"Don't cook dinner for me. I'm eating at my parents' place," Elliott's indifferent voice came through. "I won't be coming over to sleep tonight either. It's not our first day of marriage anymore, so I don't have to cater to you."

Julia's eyes showed disappointment. "It's fine if you don't come back for dinner, but you have to come back to sleep. Otherwise, I'll have to come find you and ask your mom why my husband, after marrying me, always thinks about not coming home to spend the night."

"Julia."

Elliott's voice immediately flared up like a firecracker, "You're pulling this trick again. Is it fun?"

"Yes, as long as it works."

Elliott angrily hung up the phone.

Julia put away her phone and looked at the groceries in her cart. Just a moment ago, she was excited about dinner, but now she had lost interest.

She took a deep breath, turned around, and grabbed a pack of instant noodles.

Nighttime.

At the Miller Group villa, Elliott had just come home from work and saw Laura snuggling in Derek's arms, showing off their affection. Her face was as sweet as honey.

"This walnut is so hard to crack. My hands are tired; I don't want to do it."

"Okay, I'll do it."

Derek pampered Laura in every way. When he saw Elliott had come back, he raised his eyebrows, "Hey, Elliott."

Elliott was speechless.

"Laura, Derek, dinner's ready," Rose called out.

Derek quickly finished cracking the walnut and went over to help eagerly.

"You two eat first. After dinner, go watch a movie so you won't be late," Rose urged.

"It's okay, we have time," Derek said, seeing Laura still lying there motionless. He simply picked her up in his arms.

Luke snorted and glared at Laura, "Do you not have legs? Derek, don't spoil her too much."

"It's fine. She's been working all day and is very tired, especially with the new product launch recently. She's been quite busy," Derek said, still in a doting and accommodating manner.

"Sweetheart, thank you for understanding," Laura blew him a kiss.

In the past, the two would be more reserved, but now that their parents knew about their relationship, they no longer hid it.

Elliott's hand trembled as he held his fork, his handsome face looking displeased. "Can you be a bit more reserved as a girl?"

Seriously, Laura wasn't even married yet and was already calling him "sweetheart" all the time, even more shameless than Julia.

"Elliott, you're so stubborn. Young people call each other that nowadays," Laura glared at him.

"Alright, when Elliott meets his future wife, he'll be the same," Derek said, holding Maeve. Maeve was growing up and occasionally ate small vegetables, enjoying them thoroughly.

Elliott looked at Maeve, feeling complicated.

After Laura and Derek finished breakfast, they left to watch a movie.

Luke and Rose put down their utensils. Rose went upstairs to change clothes and then pushed Maeve in a stroller. The couple went out for a walk together.

Suddenly, Elliott was the only one left in the big house.

He hadn't noticed it before, but now he realized everyone was paired up.

With a cold expression, he put down his bowl, went upstairs to take a shower, and then went out.

When his car reached the entrance of Meadowbrook Village, he checked his phone and saw it was only 8 PM.

If he went up now, Julia might think he rushed over right after dinner, making it seem like he cared too much about her.

Elliott thought for a moment and decided to park the car and take a walk in the nearby park.

The weather was gradually getting warmer, and the park was bustling. There were families playing on the playground, many middle-aged and elderly people chatting, and even couples rowing boats on the small lake.

Elliott walked across the arched bridge over the lake with his hands in his pockets. Julia came running up from the other side. Her hair was tied up high, she wore sports earphones around her neck, tight sports pants and shoes, a black sports bra, and a blue sun-protective jacket with the zipper undone, revealing her slender waist. Though it was refreshing, it also made her look very sexy.

They bumped into each other, and Julia was momentarily stunned.

Elliott's gaze fell on her waist, and his handsome face immediately turned cold.

"Aren't you supposed to be having dinner at the Miller family?"

"Who told you to dress like that and come out running?"

They spoke simultaneously.

Elliott's face darkened even more, "Julia, don't forget you're married. Running around dressed like that at night, are you trying to attract men? Am I not satisfying you at home, and now you're lonely?"

Julia was speechless at his barrage of insults, "Do you believe that if you said this at the gym, you'd get scolded by many women?"

"I don't care about other women; I only care about you," Elliott said coldly. "Since you're married, please be more modest."

"How am I not modest? Just because I showed my waist?" Julia took off her earphones. "I can ignore your usual insults, but you can't generalize. Many professional women dress like this for running. Besides, you've lived abroad before. Parks are full of women running with their waists exposed. If you think I'm wrong, you can post what you said online and see if people support you or me."

"I already said, I only care about you," Elliott wasn't foolish enough to argue with her online; he knew he'd get scolded to death.

In fact, he knew he was being unreasonable.

He didn't care how other women dressed, but he couldn't stand other men seeing her waist.

Couldn't she have a bit of self-awareness?

She had such a good figure, a slender waist, and she was already very beautiful. Many men passing by would focus on her body. Moreover, the crime rate against women had been high in recent years.

"You can care about me."

Julia nodded and zipped up her jacket, her tone softening as she explained, "If you don't like me dressing like this, you can tell me. I won't get mad because it shows you care about my appearance, which means you've accepted me as your wife."

"Who accepted you?"

Elliott angrily retorted.

"If you haven't accepted me, then why do you care about what I wear?" Julia asked curiously on purpose, "Shouldn't you let me wear whatever I want?"
