Chapter 996 Joseph's Pitiful Look

Laura hesitated, worried Joseph might blow up.

Joseph gripped the bag so hard his veins popped.

But instead of losing it, he calmly set the items on the table.

Laura was stunned.

Joseph opened the bag of crawfish, put on gloves, and started peeling them.

The delicious smell made both Cassie and Laura's mouths water.

"Joseph, can you take it outside?" Cassie asked, exasperated.

"I'm peeling them for you. I'll leave when I'm done."

Joseph didn't even look up. "If you don't want them, I'll just leave them here."

Cassie sighed, feeling helpless.

Just then, Felix walked in, holding pink roses and some supplements, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Cassie, fancy seeing you here."

"Felix, what are you doing here?" Cassie's face darkened.

Annoyed, Cassie turned to Laura, "Do you know him?"

"Nope," Laura said, rolling her eyes.

Felix ignored the cold reception and smiled. "I'm here to visit Ms. Miller. Now that she's Carl's Goddaughter, Marcus and Carl have some ties, so I thought I'd check on her."

Cassie quickly realized the Chamberlain family was trying to cozy up to Carl through Laura.

She thought, 'The Chamberlain family has no shame.'

Felix continued, all gentlemanly, "I didn't expect Ms. Miller to be even more beautiful in person. Even sick, she's stunning."

Joseph snorted.

Felix shot him a glare. "Joseph, what are you doing here? After helping Nathan hurt Ms. Miller, you have no right to be here."

"She hasn't kicked me out. Why are you so worked up? Already seeing yourself as the future son-in-law of the President?" Joseph raised an eyebrow. Despite the Hernandez family's fall, his elegance and sharp eyes made Felix squirm.

Laura and Cassie were both taken aback. Cassie said, "Felix, aren't you married to Luna?"

Felix was about to respond when Joseph cut in, "He can always divorce Luna. Besides, with Luna's current status, how can she match the noble Mr. Chamberlain? If he can connect with the future President, wouldn't that be great?"

"Joseph, shut up," Felix snapped, furious. "I just meant Ms. Miller is beautiful. Not everyone treats marriage a joke like you."

Joseph's eyes turned icy. "It's rare to see a married man call another woman 'stunningly beautiful.'"

Felix's face flushed with embarrassment, and he glared at Joseph. "Watch your mouth, Joseph. Do I need to remind you of your status?"

"What kind of reminder?" Joseph's lips curled into a smirk.

Felix was momentarily speechless. He didn't dare to confront Joseph, especially with others around.

Felix looked at Laura with a fake smile. "Ms. Miller, do you want me to kick Joseph out?"

Laura was taken aback and instinctively glanced at Cassie. Finally, she cleared her throat. "Cassie, what do you think?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Cassie, even Joseph's.

Cassie wished she could kick both Laura and Felix out.

Why did they make her decide this?

She could let Felix do it, but seeing Felix's smug face and Joseph's sad eyes...

"How about both of you leave? Laura needs rest. We appreciate your kindness, but please go," Cassie said.

Joseph's lips curled slightly, thinking, 'At least Cassie didn't let Felix kick me out.'

Felix, on the other hand, was fuming inside, thinking, 'As the president of the Chamberlain Group, I'm being compared to Joseph.'

But with Laura now the president's goddaughter, Felix had to swallow his pride and forced a smile. "Then we won't disturb you any longer."

As he left, he shot a glare at Joseph.

Joseph stood up, looking at Cassie. "The crawfish are peeled. I'm leaving."

With that, he turned and walked out.

Cassie was frustrated.

Joseph wasn't the same anymore, and she couldn't figure out what he wanted.

"Has Joseph gone crazy?" Laura sighed. "He's changed so much. He used to be so arrogant, especially when he took you away at the wedding. I thought he'd never let you go."

Cassie was speechless, thinking, 'Could he not let me go? He was unable to reproduce.'

"Maybe the downfall of the Hernandez family hit him too hard?" Laura wondered, tilting her head.

"Alright, stop overthinking." Cassie walked to the table, eyeing the fragrant crawfish. She wanted to throw them away but ended up trying one.

She ate them all.

After finishing, she frowned in regret, feeling she had no willpower.

In the parking lot, Joseph had just opened his car door when Felix's cold voice came from behind. "Joseph, you didn't give me any respect up there."

"Why should I?" Joseph retorted coldly.

"Fine, maybe you haven't realized you have to bow down to me now." Felix sneered and turned to get in his car.

Joseph frowned.

Shortly after leaving the hospital, he felt he was being followed.

As four cars surrounded him from behind, his eyes narrowed, and he suddenly accelerated.

The three cars weren't easy to shake off, closing in on him from both sides.

Joseph quickly turned the steering wheel, weaving through a narrow gap between the cars like lightning, scaring one of the drivers into slamming on the brakes, but it still crashed into the car in front.

Joseph's lips curled as he swiftly changed lanes, stepped on the gas, and sped away.

The driver who crashed angrily slammed the steering wheel and called Felix, "Mr. Chamberlain, we failed."

"Useless." Felix cursed.

Joseph sped back to the company.

Wyatt had been waiting for him. "Mr. Hernandez, Douglas and Stephen have resigned from Dragon."
