Chapter 1310 Are You Really Going to Break Up with Cassie?
"After the whole Lola and David scandal blew up, David's rep took a nosedive, so he shipped Lola off overseas. But guess what? I tracked her down."
Joseph turned to Kathleen, "Check out the next video."
Kathleen's hands shook as she scrolled to another clip of Lola. "When Arthur had his accident, he was driving this fancy new energy smart car from abroad. David's got connections with a big shot from the car company. Two years back, I even had dinner with David and this exec in Austin. Got a pic of them belting out tunes at the club."
Joseph pulled up his photo album, showing a dimly lit pic of David with some middle-aged foreign dude in a private room.
Kathleen recognized the guy instantly.
The cops had said Arthur's crash was 'cause of a glitch in the self-driving car.
The car company later threw a bunch of cash her way, but money was the last thing on her mind.
She'd been keeping tabs on the car company and had seen this foreign dude online. Word was, he was the global CEO.
She never thought David knew him.
David never mentioned a thing.
A chill ran down her spine.
She thought, 'David was her own brother. How could he be so heartless?'
"I think you get the picture now," Joseph said, all casual-like. "Arthur caught David getting it on with his secretary. David's whole thing with Cassie? Total sham. He wanted to spill the beans to Cassie, but David needed her in the dark. So he set up the car accident."
"Everyone thought it was a car glitch, even the company owned up and paid up. But no one knew David and the CEO were tight. There had to be some shady deal. Your son died, and everyone just thought it was some freak accident."
"I gotta get revenge for Arthur," Kathleen sobbed. "Give me all this stuff, I'll take David to court."
"Not enough for evidence," Joseph said, raising an eyebrow. "Lola would say I kidnapped her. The CEO? He's not from Madison, and he's got rights abroad. He wouldn't show up here. A photo means squat without an interrogation. This case would go nowhere."
Joseph's voice turned icy, "David left almost no trace of killing Arthur."
"What do I do?" Kathleen asked, calming down. "I've got nothing left to lose. I just want to make my son's killer pay. I'll do whatever it takes."
Joseph had been waiting for this. "David kidnapped someone in Silverwood. I need info on this person."
He pulled out a photo of Everett and handed it over.
"He's Declan Wittelsbach's kid. You might not know Declan, but let's just say the Wittelsbach family is loaded and super secretive. Declan could easily take out David, but David's using his kid as leverage."
Kathleen was floored, seeing a whole new side of David.
Was this really her brother? He was a total psycho.
"He's nuts. Is he trying to take down the Foster family?"
"You're off base. He's playing a high-stakes game. If he wins, David's gonna skyrocket in status. Even the President of Madison would have to bow down to him. But if he loses, the Foster family is toast. But if you help me, Declan will cut you and your folks some slack."
Joseph raised an eyebrow, "Remember your son's death. When they found him, he was a mess."
"Enough, I'll help you."
Kathleen clutched the photo, her eyes burning with hate. "I'm the GM of the Wit Group in Silverwood. I mostly handle business, but I know David's routine. Every time he's in Silverwood, he calls on certain people. If I keep tabs on them, I'll find something."
"Move fast. This guy's being held captive. David won't let him die; he'll have his trusted guys check on him. That's your shot." Joseph said, his tone serious, "David's got big plans in Whisperlyn City. If he pulls it off, you'll never get your revenge."
Kathleen nodded, her fists clenched. "I will."
"And keep your hatred under wraps. Don't let anyone catch on." Joseph instructed before leaving.
Once he got into the car downstairs, Joel asked, "Mr. Hernandez, can she pull it off? We're banking on her."
"Never underestimate a mother's rage."
Joseph looked at her coldly, "Even if she fails, she'd probably go down with David."
Joel's jaw dropped slightly in shock.
"So, never mess with someone's breaking point." Joseph leaned back in the leather seat and closed his eyes.
Joel glanced at his sharp features.
It was still Joseph, but he seemed more cunning than before.
But who would've thought that just a week ago, this Joseph was like a clueless kid with the mind of a two-year-old?
Some people are downright scary when they grow up.
At ten that night, Joseph finally got back to the Hernandez House.
As he passed Cassie's room, he paused. It was dead quiet inside, like no one was there.
"Cassie took the kids back to the Chapman family tonight," Cameron said, walking over.
"Got it." Joseph frowned and opened his bedroom door.
"What's up with you? Are you really breaking up with Cassie?" Cameron frowned.
"No, I want to sort everything out first and then go after her properly, like a man chasing the woman he loves." Joseph said before closing the door behind him.
Cameron was taken aback but then felt relieved.
He was just worried Joseph didn't get love. But hearing this, he felt better.
The next morning, at eight sharp.
Joseph was already at the Hernandez Group.
Not long after, Nathaniel rushed in, "Mr. Hernandez, Isabella and Robert are here. Lars personally went downstairs to get them. They're in the conference room, waiting for you to start the meeting."
"Alright, let's go." Joseph stood up.
Nathaniel looked at him, puzzled, "Isabella brought a ton of bodyguards, probably from abroad."
