Chapter 1737 He Mocked Her, Humiliated Her

"Bernice, don't you get it? Guys love the thrill of the chase," he said, his fingers lightly brushing over her eyes. "I'm not done with you yet. The more you act like a lifeless doll, the more I want to put you in your place. Don't mess with me, or your crew will regret it."

With that, he yanked down the zipper of her dress.

"No."

Bernice's expression shifted. They were on set.

What he was doing was outright humiliating her.

"This is your lesson."

Lucas grabbed her chin and kissed her.

Bernice felt a wave of disgust and nausea, no matter how many times it happened.

But Lucas didn't care. He forced her to take all of him.

"Lucas, can I come to your place tonight?" Bernice gave in. She didn't want to do this here; she had scenes to shoot later, and people would notice.

"You're not scared of leaving the industry, but you're scared of doing it here?" Lucas chuckled, his eyes cold. "Bernice, I don't agree. I was in a bad mood last night. Why didn't you come to keep me company this morning?"

He pulled her onto the couch in the lounge.

He hadn't slept well all night.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Nina from when he was eighteen.

She had tears in her eyes, asking him not to break up.

He mocked and humiliated her.

He hated himself for remembering so well. It was just a girl; why did he still think of her?

Lucas took off his glasses and tossed them aside, revealing a fierce look in his eyes.

Bernice was stunned. This Lucas was different. He used to be bossy but gentle.

Now, he was full of malice, treating her like a mere outlet for his desires.

"Look at me, look at me." Lucas forcefully cupped her face, staring into her defiant and stubborn eyes.

Those eyes were so much like Nina's.

But that face...

"Do you have a mask?" he suddenly asked.

Bernice was taken aback, not understanding what he wanted.

But she did have a mask in her bag.

Without waiting for her answer, Lucas took off his T-shirt and covered her nose and mouth with it.

Bernice's eyes widened in disbelief.

She thought Lucas was sick.

After a long torment, she had no idea how much time had passed.

She was exhausted; today's Lucas was particularly crazy.

"Come to my place tonight." Lucas forcefully pulled her into his arms, still unsatisfied.

"Enough." Bernice trembled with anger, holding her phone. "It's been an hour and ten minutes. The director only gave me an hour's break."

"So what? Would he dare to be angry?" Lucas kissed her eyelid.

Bernice felt like she was being kissed by a cold, indifferent snake. All she felt was disgust.

"If you don't come tonight, I'll have to come find you tomorrow." Lucas chuckled lightly, dressed himself, and left first.

Bernice looked at herself in the mirror, her hair messy, and her dress torn.

She had to change into another dress and apply a thick layer of foundation on her neck to cover the hickey.

But when she came out, everyone could tell what had happened between her and Lucas.

Emery smiled and didn't get angry at her for being late. "Bernice, are you okay? Are you tired? If you're tired, we can move your scenes to tomorrow."Cecilia, clearly annoyed, said, "Director, if she doesn't shoot, do I have to push my scenes with her to tomorrow? I have plans."

"Bernice doesn't mind the delay, so why are you, someone less popular than her, complaining?" Emery shot a glare at Cecilia, who stomped her foot in frustration.

"It's fine, I'm not tired. Let's get ready and start my scenes." Bernice didn't feel great about the special treatment. She noticed the odd looks from the crew.

Before today, she felt respected by the staff. Many praised her acting skills and her ability to endure tough situations. But now, they'd probably think she got good roles because she was with Lucas.

That's why she always hated people knowing about her relationship with Lucas.

After Emery got busy, Cecilia said in a snarky tone, "Bernice, why aren't you wearing that dress from earlier? It looked nice."

Bernice caught the sarcasm and turned to leave.

Cecilia sneered, "What are you pretending for? You just got lucky hooking up with Mr. Nelson. No wonder you've been getting so many good roles lately."

"Are you jealous?" Bernice turned back, her gaze icy.

"I wouldn't be jealous of that." Cecilia, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, said, "I want to climb up with my acting skills, not by..."

Cecilia glanced at Bernice's body and said, "Relying on your acting skills is the most reliable. Just look at Sarah. Mr. Nelson used to spoil her, but now? Men just want something new."

"It's rare for you to have such an understanding. I'll make sure to pass your words on to Lucas. I'm sure even if he dumps me in the future, he won't have any interest in you."

With a faint smile, Bernice turned and left.

"Bernice." Cecilia stomped her foot in anger.

Who told her to talk to Lucas? Everyone in the company knew that hooking up with Lucas was the best way out.

Bernice pushed through the last two scenes, and Emery let her leave early.

After getting into the nanny van, Bernice took a birth control pill from a vitamin C bottle and swallowed it with water.

She would never have Lucas's child.

Her assistant asked softly, "Bernice, are we going to Lucas's place now?"

Bernice pursed her lips. She didn't want to go at all.

Just then, Cassie called, "Bernice, want to have lobster together tonight?"

A relaxed smile finally appeared on Bernice's pretty face. "Aren't you spending time with your husband and kids?"

"Joseph is on a business trip today."

"Send me the address, I'll be there."

Cassie picked a spot about a forty-minute drive away.

When they met, they got a private terrace room facing the river.

"How have you been lately?" After ordering dinner, Cassie looked at Bernice. "You seem to have lost weight."

"Yeah, I've been having insomnia at night," Bernice said lightly.

"Is it because of Lucas?" Cassie raised an eyebrow. "What's his deal? Has he fallen for you?"

"Is that possible?" Bernice laughed. "He's a cold-blooded animal without feelings."

"You're wrong. He does have feelings for my husband," Cassie joked. "Yesterday, Joseph even advised him to let you go. I wonder if he took it to heart."

Bernice was stunned and shook her head. "No, I don't know what it will take for him to let me go."
