Chapter 112
"However, not more than ten minutes had passed before Kathleen's frantic call came through:
""Arthur, what on earth happened? Why is Olivia blasting your broken engagement on Instagram, claiming you're still involved with Cassie during your engagement?""
Stunned, Arthur hadn't expected Olivia to make such a swift, decisive move. Hurriedly, he opened Olivia's Instagram.
Her post said:
""Naïve little girl thought she’d found her Prince Charming, only to realize he was just after her inheritance. I've been vilified lately, accused of being 'the other woman' stealing her sister’s man, but I was clueless. He declared his love for me, and I believed him. I threw caution to the wind, even through a ruined engagement party.""
But it’s only now that I’ve come to realize he’s been stringing someone else along this whole time. The engagement was a farce; I was just a stepping stone he used to secure his position at the Lewis Group.
Following that revelation, another bomb dropped—a photo of her and Cassie at Garden Heights appeared online. They were holding hands, immersed in what seemed to be an intimate conversation. He never knew they had been caught on camera.
The Brooks family had been laying in wait, ready to douse me with this scandal, forcing Olivia Brooks to back out in disgrace.
It was too late for Arthur Lewis to regret his past actions.
Because Height Company, along with Charlotte Jones and Sarah Randall, among other influencers, had already liked and shared the news. Soon enough, the topic surrounding Olivia Brooks skyrocketed to the top of the trending charts.
People were slamming him left and right, calling him a heartbreaker, scum.
They accused him and Cassie of conspiring together, of deceiving the naive girl from the countryside.
In a frenzy, Kathleen said, “Are you really mixed up with Cassie again? Are you out of your mind? At this point, the Brooks family is your only shot at redemption...”
“Mom, I’m not,” Arthur Lewis’s voice was hoarse with emotion, “Can’t you see? Olivia Brooks is the one trying to distance herself from me, splashing me with mud in the process.”
Kathleen was jolted with realization—it all clicked suddenly.
“To think she’s that kind of person; I misjudged her. You're at your lowest now, and she wants to utterly destroy your reputation, casting you into the abyss,” she gasped.
“Exactly. I never saw it coming. Maybe it's just desserts,” Arthur Lewis lamented, his sorrow palpable. What he couldn't fathom was whether Cassie would be hurt in the process—for he already owed her so much.

While at work, Cassie saw her name being dragged through the mud on the trending searches for no reason at all—and felt a surge of rage.
Olivia Brooks—a real piece of work—was twisting the truth. She had swooped in and stolen Arthur Lewis away and now was framing Cassie for conspiring with him.
And then there was Sarah Randall, a star using her clout to fuel the fire, drawing even more vitriol towards Cassie.
What a crowd they were.
“You know, not everything you see online is true—don't take it to heart,” Billy Stone noticed her distress and tried to comfort her, “If you're feeling upset, you might want to head home early and rest up.”
“Yeah.” Cassie really didn't want to endure the curious stares of her coworkers. She nodded, grabbed her belongings, and headed home.
But as soon as she stepped out of the building, a swarm of reporters appeared out of nowhere, besieging her.
“Miss Brooks, have you and Arthur Lewis gotten back together?” they hounded.
Reconciliation? You two never really split up, did you? It was all a charade to set a trap for Arthur Lewis to bait Olivia Brooks!""
""Is it true that you're green with envy over your long-lost sister, who you've finally found?""
""Did the Brooks' relatives spill the beans that you once told your parents it was either her or you, that there wasn't room for both of you?""
""Isn't your heart a tad too black? She’s your own flesh and blood, and she's had such a rough life growing up.""
""You think you can push her around just because she comes from a small rural town, don't you?""
""What's wrong with coming from the countryside? You think you're too good for country folks?""
