Chapter 1589 Megan Betrays the Marriage
"Amazing," Cassie said with a smile, looking at Laura.
"What?" Laura asked, puzzled.
"Nothing, whether you marry Derek or not, decades from now, when Derek stands in that position, your name might still appear in the books of Madison's presidents," Cassie teased. "By then, someone might even write a biography for you. I've already thought of the titles: "The Woman Who Conquered the President," "The President's Unforgettable Lover," "The Life of Madison's Youngest First Lady.""
Laura's mouth twitched speechlessly. "You've thought of all kinds of destinies for me. Amazing. Aren't you afraid that if my affair with Derek gets exposed, it will become a stain on his reputation? By then; he might get cursed."
"Don't worry, I've also thought of titles for that scenario, like "The Absurd Life of the President's Son and His Goddaughter.""
Laura fell silent. She was at a loss for words. "Cassie, I think making you the president of DreamDazzle Beauty Co. is too much of a waste of your talent. You should be an editor."
"Being an editor would be a waste of my talent," Cassie said, blinking her eyes as if it were a matter of course.
Laura was speechless again.
"Let me show you something." Cassie opened her phone, unlocked a secret album, and handed it to her.
Laura looked closely, puzzled. "Who is this? Why are you showing me her sex photos?"
"Come on, this is Megan, after her plastic surgery," Cassie pointed at the screen to remind her.
"Fuck, this is Megan?" Laura recalled the last time she saw Megan in a restaurant; she looked quite scary then. "The scars on her face are gone. This plastic surgery is impressive."
Cassie was helpless. "What are you focusing on? It's that Megan had sex with Landon."
"So soon?" Laura was genuinely shocked. "You told me a month ago that you arranged for someone to approach Megan. This is too fast."
"We were too conservative. Many adults have sex the next day they meet. Besides, Megan and Landon didn't just have sex recently; they did it within half a month of meeting," Cassie said with a laugh. "Landon said Megan is very proactive in bed. Don't be fooled by her limp; she has a lot of tricks and contacts him every few days."
Laura was shocked. "How much does Megan want to have sex?! Could it be that two men couldn't satisfy her? Megan is incredible. No wonder I lost to her. She must be amazing in bed. Michael probably couldn't help himself after sleeping with her."
After saying that, Laura reflected deeply. "Michael might think our sex life is too boring."
"Don't say that," Cassie interrupted.
Laura's sudden self-pity left Cassie unsure how to comfort her. "It's not your fault but Michael's character issue. Anyway, we succeed."
Laura nodded, feeling complicated. "When will Michael find out about Megan's infidelity? I'm looking forward to the moment he realizes he's been betrayed by Megan. Hasn't he always seen Megan as his first love? He thinks everyone else is bad, but Megan is the best. If he sees Megan in bed with another man, that scene will be spectacular."
Hearing this, Cassie gave her a deep look. "I heard from Landon that Michael rarely goes back now. Megan is mostly alone in the villa. It seems that the cat abuse video file he saw last time made him a bit disgusted with Megan."
"Really?" Laura mocked, "If he sees Megan's infidelity, won't he be furious? After all, Megan is his true love."
"He's neglecting Megan, which will speed up her infidelity," Cassie smiled. "Just wait. The Ocean Blue group is not doing well. Megan probably despises Michael too. When she feels secure with Landon, she'll ask for a divorce. By then, when Michael sees Megan's true colors, he'll deal with Megan himself."
"Will he?" Laura frowned, uncertain. "Michael is harsh on everyone except Megan. He forgives her repeatedly."
"Having experienced a lot, do you think Michael is still the same person who has married you?" Cassie said meaningfully. "When Michael was with you, he had everything. He was like God's favored. He had a beautiful wife, adorable kids, the soon-to-be-inherited Jude Group, and thriving investments. Outside, people praised him as the youngest and most capable talent in the business world. Now, what does he have? He's been completely abandoned by the Jude family, his inheritance taken by Julia. People look down on him, ignore him, and he married a wife who only drags him down. Being in this environment for so long will change his mindset."
Laura listened, feeling scared.
She recalled the last few times she saw Michael; he was becoming more selfish and unfamiliar.
She thought back to the time when she and Michael were closest, and it seemed more and more distant.
She sighed, "I really don't know how he became like this."
Cassie analysised, "Michael is surrounded by women like Megan. Megan is best at changing people's minds. Even if he makes something wrong, Megan can make him think it's someone else's fault. Over time, his views naturally change. Ultimately, Michael was too well-protected by his family."
That evening, after dining out with Cassie and Bernice and strolling around, Laura returned to the Presidential Palace around 8 PM.
Seeing the dark building where Derek lived, she felt a bit down and took a photo of the building to send to Derek.
It wasn't until Laura had put Maeve to bed that she received a Facebook message from Derek. It was also a photo, but it was about a pile of thick documents in his office.
Derek: [I've been reviewing documents. This is today's work, just finished. Sorry for the late reply.]
Laura: [XOXO! You must be exhausted.]
Derek: [I'm hungry. Is Maeve asleep? Want to go out for a late-night snack?]
Laura: [She's asleep. Now?]
Derek: [Let Arabella watch her for a bit. Come keep me company. I miss you.]
A simple 'I miss you' was hard to refuse for someone in love.
After agreeing, Laura immediately went to the dressing room to change. Not wanting to dress too complicated for the night out, she simply grabbed a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. However, she hesitated for a few seconds when changing her underwear and finally chose a sexy one.
