Chapter 1388 Lean Over for a Kiss
Laura snorted, "So, you just wanna hook up with me, huh?"
Michael raised an eyebrow, "With what I got, I could be with any chick, but I only want you."
Laura was caught off guard and opened her mouth to speak.
Michael cut her off, "Don't think I'm that shallow. If I was, I wouldn't have saved my first time for you."
"Mine too," Laura mumbled under her breath.
But after hearing his spiel, Laura started to waver a bit.
Indeed, if he didn't like her, he wouldn't need to lie, right?
Seeing she wasn't pushing him away, Michael got all excited. He leaned in and kissed her lips over and over. "And why can't I like you? You're hot, smart, and got big dreams. Even though you can be as sassy as me sometimes, you're kind-hearted. It's totally natural for me to like you."
His breath was all over her, making things feel kinda intense.
As Laura listened to his sweet talk, their lips locked, and her heart and body felt all tingly and sweet.
He kinda made sense. She deserved to be loved.
But then she remembered something.
She pushed him back a bit, "My mom always says I'm lazy and messy at home. You into that too?"
"I've known you for a while. Doesn't bother me at all," Michael said, totally chill. "And so what if you're lazy? I got a housekeeper. Why would I need you to do chores? I'm not looking for a maid. I just want you to be happy."
Laura felt even sweeter inside.
Exactly, when Benjamin and Rose used to nag her, she always thought she wasn't marrying to be a maid.
For the first time, she found Michael pretty cool in this aspect.
Still, she had something to check.
She lowered her head and checked his sleeves, even reaching into his pockets.
"What are you doing?" Michael asked, surprised by her actions.
"You suddenly said such nice things. I'm checking if you got a cheat sheet," Laura whispered.
"Go ahead, I got nothing to hide," Michael let her search.
Laura rummaged around but found nada.
Michael grinned, "Laura, I was being real. Remember when you lived at Riverside Blossom and I visited you? I always cooked for you. I really don't mind that stuff. I actually dig cooking and love it when people enjoy my food. You always finished it, and that made me feel really good."
Laura looked up at him.
When he said all that, his eyes behind the glasses sparkled with a smile.
Her heart suddenly started racing. Even more than when he showed up in a sports car, dressed just the way she liked.
Actually, she always remembered the first time Michael came over and cooked for her.
Laura even told Cassie that, aside from Michael's dumb stuff with Megan, he was a good guy. Being loved by a guy like him was a kind of happiness, but Megan didn't appreciate it.
At that time, Laura wavered, but later, because of Megan and Nathan, she never let herself think about it again.
"Don't look at me like that. I can't handle it," Michael leaned in for another kiss, but Laura blocked him.
"Cut it out, I'm starving. I'm gonna eat."
"You're not leaving?" Michael's face lit up, "Cool, I'll hit the restroom. You start eating."
Laura's face turned red as she glanced down, then walked away without a second thought.
Michael only headed to the restroom after she sat back down.
The food arrived, but he still wasn't back. Laura started eating slowly.
After a bit, Michael showed up again.
Laura glanced at him, "That was quick."
Michael, choking on his water, looked a bit annoyed, "Why don't we try tonight? It's not that quick."
Before he could finish, Laura stomped on his foot.
"In your dreams," she said with a smirk, watching him cut his steak.
Michael thought, 'Take it slow; at least I made the first move.'
After eating, they headed to a nearby movie theater.
Once there, Michael eagerly bought some snacks and took her inside.
The IMAX theater was huge, but even after the movie started, they were the only ones there.
Laura was puzzled, "Isn't this movie supposed to be popular? Why are we the only ones here?"
"Oh, because I bought all the other tickets," Michael said.
Laura glared at him, speechless.
"Those people would just bug us," Michael explained confidently.
"It's not even the weekend. There wouldn't be many people anyway. That's just wasting money," Laura sighed. "And watching a movie is about the vibe. If it's just the two of us, we might as well watch at home."
"You're right, babe. I won't waste money again. From now on, I'll get your okay before spending," Michael said with a grin. Her calling it "wasting money" felt like a wife managing her husband, and he loved it.
'So this is what it feels like to be managed.' Michael thought.
No wonder Joseph enjoyed being managed by Cassie so much.
Laura wanted to say she didn't mean it that way, but seeing Michael's obedient look, she couldn't help but smile.
To be honest, Michael suddenly being so attentive felt pretty nice.
It was like she had finally tamed a wild husky.
Especially during the movie, Laura didn't have to open her own bottle or tear open snack packages.
That feeling was pretty satisfying.
No wonder so many people liked being in a relationship.
She had been single for so long, she had forgotten how enjoyable it was.
But Michael was too restless, constantly squeezing her hand or leaning in for kisses.
"Stop it, can you let me watch the movie?"
"Go ahead, I'm not covering your eyes," Michael leaned in to kiss her cheek again. "Laura, I used to find watching movies with Joseph and the others boring. Now I realize it's quite fun. No wonder so many people love watching movies."
"You never watched movies with Megan?" Laura blurted out.
