Chapter 1333 Counterattack
Michael's sudden determined look made David freeze up like a deer in headlights.
David had been cooking up this plan for years, and now it was go-time. No way was this gonna flop.
"David, what's he getting at?"
Ralph sauntered over, looking all kinds of uneasy. They were so close to hitting the jackpot, he couldn't let anything mess it up.
"Ralph, he's just trying to buy time and mess with our heads. Ignore him," David muttered, ice-cold. "Right now, we gotta lock down everyone in the Jude family."
"Chill, I've already got our guys tailing the Jude family. By now, they're probably surrounded."
Ralph sneered at Carl, "Carl, your family's toast. Hand over the seal, and maybe I'll let your old man live. Otherwise, I'll make sure you watch him and your brother bite the dust."
Carl's angry face twisted into a sly grin. He suddenly looked like he owned the place. "Ralph, you think I'd show up tonight without a backup plan?"
Ralph blinked, then shrugged it off. "Big deal. You probably don't know that Whisperlyn City is already mine."
"Is that so?" Carl shot back, cool as a cucumber.
The guests around them started to get jittery, sensing something was up with Carl.
"Relax, everyone. The Jude family can't pull a fast one on us," Ralph said, trying to calm the room full of big shots.
Derek suddenly laughed, "Dad, just spill the beans. Ralph's been outed, and all his cronies are exposed. Let's take 'em all down."
Derek's creepy laugh echoed, making everyone even more on edge.
"Ralph, you sure you got this?" Tommy nervously asked, sidling up to Ralph.
Ralph shot him a death glare. But before he could say anything, chaos erupted behind him.
He spun around to see Joseph grab a gun from a guard and press it to Marigold's head.
"What the hell?!" Marigold screamed, terrified.
"Shut up!" Joseph barked, yanking her close and pressing the gun harder. His lips curled into a wicked grin. "Keep yapping, and I'll blow your ear off."
"Joseph, let her go!" Ralph roared. "You wanna die?"
"Ralph, chill. This might be part of Carl's game," David said, grabbing Ralph. "But if he thinks Marigold's gonna save him, that's a joke."
Ralph was stunned, then frowned.
He weighed his options. 'I've only got one daughter, Marigold, and I've always spoiled her. But if it's between her and power, power wins. I can always have more kids once I'm president. Maybe even a bunch of sons.'
"Using Marigold to mess with me? That's a joke!" Ralph suddenly snapped, ice-cold.
Ophelia screamed, "You're nuts! Marigold's our daughter! You can't just ditch her!"
Marigold was shaking like a leaf. "Dad, please save me. I don't wanna die."
"Marigold, if I cave now, Carl will off all three of us later," Ralph sighed, sounding defeated. "Joseph, let Marigold go, and I'll give you two billion bucks and guarantee the Hernandez family's safety for life."
"Nice try. If I trust you, who knows what you'll pull on me later," Joseph said, squinting and grinning at Marigold. "Marigold, didn't you just say you wanted me to be your lapdog?"
"I was kidding," Marigold stammered, her legs like jelly. "Put the gun down, and I'll marry you. We can tie the knot right now. And don't forget, your son's still in our hands."
"Are you sure my son's still in your hands?" Joseph asked, amused. "Then bring him out, let me see."
Ophelia yelled at the guards, "Go get Oliver!"
The guard took off, but instead of coming back with Oliver, gunfire erupted from the backyard. A squad of soldiers in uniform stormed in, surrounding everyone. A middle-aged officer in his forties grabbed a walkie-talkie and barked, "Everyone inside, drop your weapons. You're surrounded. Snipers are everywhere. Move a muscle, and you're dead!"
Panic spread like wildfire. The guests freaked out, and even Tommy's guards were clueless.
Ralph was losing it. How did these guys get in? His men had the place locked down. "Stay calm, everyone!"
"Who are you? Don't move!" Tommy panicked, grabbing Michael. "Drop your guns, or else—"
Before he could finish, a bullet drilled through his head, and Tommy hit the floor with a thud.
"Sniper!" someone screamed.
But it was too late. In seconds, all the guards in the hall were gunned down.
"I said, don't move," the officer repeated, his eyes cold as ice, holding the walkie-talkie.
Everyone was too scared to breathe. Even David and the Dixon family were shaking. This twist had blindsided them. They couldn't wrap their heads around how Whisperlyn City, which they thought they controlled, had flipped on them.
The officer stepped up and knelt in front of Carl. "As ordered, we've cleared everyone outside. The folks at the Jude family gate are captured. The whole villa's under our control."
"Good job! Stand up," Carl said, nodding slowly, his eyes scanning the room.
Many faces turned ghostly pale. They'd betrayed Carl earlier, even calling Ralph president. Now, they were drowning in fear and terror.
