Chapter 1341 If This Isn't Love, What Is It?

Cassie couldn't help but be blown away by how fast folks online could dig up dirt.

Hardly anyone knew she was Isabella's kid, so she was scratching her head over how the news got out.

And now she was trending? Seriously?

It was just nuts.

She never planned on reconnecting with Isabella, let alone cashing in on her fortune. That was just plain dull.

Feeling a bit peckish, Cassie got up, threw on some comfy clothes, and headed downstairs. She spotted the housekeeper, Thea Ellis, watering the plants on the balcony.

"Thea, got any breakfast left? I'm starving."

She asked, rubbing her eyes.

"Breakfast? Yeah, but it's cold now, and it's almost lunchtime." Thea's face looked a bit off.

"No worries, I'll just grab a bite," Cassie reolied.

Cassie didn't catch Thea's weird look and was a bit confused. Usually, by now, Thea would be whipping up lunch. Why was she still messing with the plants?

Cassie was floored when she walked into the kitchen and saw a tall figure with his back to her. Was she seeing things? Why was Joseph rocking an apron in her kitchen?

When Joseph turned around, sporting a brand-new blue checkered apron, Cassie's eyes went wide, looking all kinds of adorable.

Joseph grinned, "Hungry? I whipped up some honey cake and milk. Have a bite, but don't fill up. Lunch is almost ready."

He sounded so chill, like this was his place, she was his girl, and everything was just peachy.

Cassie was a bit thrown, "Joseph, what are you doing in my kitchen? Weren't you supposed to drop Sophia and Oliver at school? Why are you still here?"

"I left and came back." Joseph held a plate with a slice of honey cake and a glass of milk. "Want me to feed you, or should I bring it out?"

Cassie gawked at the cake, "You made this? No way."

She remembered Joseph's cooking was meh, but edible.

But the cake in front of her looked bakery-level good.

"I made it. Thea can back me up," Joseph said, dead serious.

Cassie gave him the once-over, "Did you level up your cooking skills?"

"Was my cooking that bad before?" Joseph looked a bit puzzled.

"It was okay. You couldn't bake a cake, and your food didn't make anyone want seconds," Cassie said, keeping it real.

Joseph frowned, almost mad at his past self, "Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough before. It's not rocket science. Tons of tutorials online, easy to follow."

Cassie went quiet.

Maybe that was it. But back then, Joseph was juggling a big company, with David and Marcus always gunning for him. Peaceful times were rare.

"You eat first. I gotta finish making lunch." Joseph gently nudged her out with his chest.

Cassie stumbled out of the kitchen, ending up at the dining table.

She felt all kinds of conflicted, "Joseph, didn't my dad tell you yesterday he doesn't want us together?"

"He did, but I'm not trying to date your dad. His words don't mean squat to me. Plus, he's swamped with the company. The bad press from that fire incident really hit hard. He probably won't be home till super late."

Joseph couldn't care less.

Cassie was at a loss for words, but she figured Aiden was too busy to deal with him anyway.

"But I told you before."

"Yeah, you did. That's why I get my own feelings now," Joseph leaned in close, whispering in her ear, "I've been with other women, but I realized I only want to be with you. What else could that be but love?"

Cassie's face turned bright red.

She shot Joseph a glare, "You're overthinking it. Guys want to hook up with any hot girl they see."

"Cassie, not all guys are like that. At least, I'm not. I act this way because I love you." Joseph's eyes were full of emotion. "You can turn me down, but I have the right to chase after you. I didn't before because I didn't think I was good enough. Now I do."

"Good enough for what?" Cassie was confused.

"First, I can protect you. Second, I won't lose my memory again, and no one can mess with it. Third, I have plenty of time now to chase after you."

He held up three fingers, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Cassie was speechless. The first two points made sense, but the last one? "Joseph, you're still young. You should have your own career. I think you should go back to the Hernandez Group. After all, it's your hard work."

"Nope, not interested in a career right now. I just want to be a good husband who stays home, does the laundry, and makes soup."

Joseph looked at her with his hands in his pockets, "By the way, got any clothes that need washing?"

Cassie, "Thanks, but I've already done my laundry."

"Next time, leave it for me," Joseph said as he headed back to the kitchen.

Cassie had a headache.

She called Thea over, "After he drops Sophia and Oliver off at kindergarten, can the security not let him in anymore?"

Thea was quiet for a moment, then said, "The security didn't let him in. He climbed over the wall. Once he was in, he started helping me with chores. I couldn't get him out."

Cassie was really speechless with Joseph.

Their ten-foot-high wall couldn't stop him. What could she do?

"Forget it. Just think of him as a free servant," Cassie sighed. That was all she could think of.

After eating the cake and milk, Cassie chilled for a bit, and then it was time for lunch.

Joseph brought out the lunch he had made, which included fish, steak, and tomato soup.

The dishes were colorful and tasted pretty good.

After eating, Cassie went upstairs to change into a long denim skirt and a beige sweater, then put on some beautiful makeup.

Cassie had been feeling irritable lately and hadn't dressed up in a long time.

Today, she even put on earrings and a necklace. Her skin was already great, and with her stunning features, she looked so beautiful she could outshine any TV star.
