Chapter 283
"After a soothing shower, Cassie was ready for bed when she got a call from Laura Miller's phone, but to her surprise, the voice on the other end belonged to an unfamiliar man.
Cassie quickly changed clothes and was heading downstairs when she ran into Luna, who had just returned home.
""Where are you off to this late? Don't tell me you're sneaking off to meet some guy,"" Luna said with a demeaning tone.
""My friend got drunk. I'm going to pick her up,"" Cassie retorted without giving Luna another glance and got into her car, driving straight to the marina.
There, several large yachts were docked. She boarded the largest one, finding it pleasantly warm inside. Over a dozen people, men and women, were partying, with the women scantily clad in bikinis radiating an atmosphere that made Cassie's hand delve into her pocket, intending to call Leo.
Before she could make the call, a man rushed from behind, grabbed her, snatched her phone away, and forcibly led her upstairs.
Despite her struggles, Cassie knew she was trapped, thinking she must have been set up. She was new to New York and hadn't crossed paths with anyone, unless it was Vera?
Once upstairs, a strikingly handsome man in a black leather jacket sat on the central sofa. Cassie recognized those hawkish brows and lustrous eyes from a previous encounter at a restaurant.
""It's you!"" Cassie gasped in disbelief. ""I don't even know you. Why am I here?""
""I'm not the one you've wronged, but my brother is,"" Michael countered coolly, standing up with both hands hooked in his pockets. His gorgeous face was void of warmth. ""Pretty enough to deceive my friend, Joseph.""
""You're friends with Joseph?"" Cassie finally understood the situation, fuming. ""What we had was between me and Joseph. Where is my friend? She works for your company.""
""One employee more or less doesn't make a difference to me,"" Michael said with an eerie charm. ""How much you want to see her again is up to you.""
""What do you want me to do?"" Cassie clenched her teeth in anger.
""Put this on and go dance downstairs. If you manage to get a $10,000 tip, you and your friend are free to go,"" Michael said nonchalantly, tossing a Playboy Bunny outfit onto the table in front of her.
The costume was shamefully sparse, barely covering the essentials with a tail on the back, equating her to those with less reputable occupations.
""Mr. Michael, you may be unaware, but I'm Leo's daughter. If my father hears about this..."" Cassie attempted to threaten him with her lineage.
""So, I've heard about the newfound daughter of Leo. But what about it? Even if Luna stood before me, I'd be unfazed,"" Michael said coldly, tapping his watch. ""You have one minute, or your friend gets a swim in the ocean.""
""Dressed like this, who knows what those guys out there might try to pull..."" Cassie hesitated.
""Cut it out, Cassie. Joseph's a straight shooter, and don't think you can pull one over on me. A girl like you? I don't buy that you haven't been with a handful of men. Aren't you an expert at playing cozy?"" Michael said with a hint of exasperation, ""Three, two...""
""Okay, okay, I'll wear it,"" Cassie resignedly clenched her fists.
To these trust fund kids, she was just another plaything.
But she couldn't drag Laura Miller into this mess.
Five minutes later, she headed to the dressing room and reluctantly changed into a bunny girl outfit, making her way downstairs at a snail's pace.
The guys downstairs immediately started whistling.
""Wow, Michael, where'd you find such a knockout?"" one of them exclaimed.
""She's quite a looker, huh?""
The young heirs, unimpressed by the bikini-clad women around them, couldn’t take their eyes off Cassie in the center.
Cassie, humiliated and flushing with embarrassment, was on the brink of tears. Meanwhile, Michael announced eagerly, ""Later, she'll be putting on a little dance for you all. Feel free to tip, but just know, once she hits ten grand, the dance stops.""
