Chapter 1071 You Have to Take Responsibility for Me

Spencer shook his head. "I don't know, you should ask Ms. Brooks. But Ms. Brooks mentioned before that she wanted to use this evidence to threaten David into a divorce, so I haven't taken it out yet. We'll wait until she wakes up to decide."

Joseph understood. Cassie was smarter than he had imagined, but she still underestimated David.

At noon, Cassie woke up groggily, completely awakened by hunger, and her stomach felt very uncomfortable.

"Are you hungry? I made some porridge for you." Joseph quickly helped her sit up, letting her lean against his chest. He held the bowl with one hand and fed her with the other.

Cassie slightly moved her mouth, her face burning with pain.

"You have a facial muscle contusion. The doctor said it will take at least a week to heal," Joseph explained softly.

"I got it." After drinking half a bowl of porridge while enduring the pain, Cassie lifted her eyelids and looked at him strangely, "Why are you here?"

Her face turned slightly pale. She only remembered feeling extremely hot all over last night, then losing consciousness, and couldn't recall what she had done.

"Spencer brought you to me last night." Joseph coughed lightly, looking at her awkwardly. "You were in a very bad condition."

Cassie was silent for a moment, then said with mixed feelings, "He should have taken me to the hospital. Why did he bring me to you? You can't solve my problem."

Joseph's handsome face darkened, and he said in a resentful tone, "How did you help me last time? I helped you the same way yesterday. I didn't sleep all night, and I'm exhausted."

Cassie almost choked on the porridge.

After coughing a few times, her swollen face became hot again.

She unconsciously moved her legs a bit, then glared at Joseph fiercely.

But thinking about how bad her face must look now, she quickly lowered her head.

"Are you shy?" Joseph lowered his head, hugged her tightly, and gently ambiguously bit her ear.

"Joseph." Cassie shivered. Although her body had calmed down, it hadn't fully recovered.

"Cassie, don't make it hard for me," Joseph said seriously, looking at her.

Cassie mercilessly pinched his waist hard.

Joseph's handsome brows furrowed tightly in pain, but he still said, "No matter what, you have to take responsibility for me."

Cassie looked at him with disdain. "I was in so much pain last night, and you didn't react. How dare you ask me to take responsibility?"

Deeply despised, Joseph felt terrible. After a long time, he squeezed out a sentence. "Cassie, you weren't saying that when you were clinging to me tightly last night."

"Enough, shut up," Cassie couldn't bear it anymore and interrupted him. She had completely lost her mind at the time and must have said many shameful things.

"Okay, let's not talk about it. I'll show you a video." Joseph played the video of David for her.

At first, Cassie was angry, but then she became increasingly calm.

Having seen David's shameless side many times, she was no longer surprised by his actions.

She was just deeply regretful and annoyed that she had married such a person.

Especially in the past, she had praised David in front of Joseph many times, saying that David was the one truly worth her trust and cherishing.

"Cassie, I reminded you several times that David was no good, but you didn't believe me," Joseph said resentfully.

"What right do you have to say that to me?" she retorted.

"I was under Megan's hypnosis before, but David didn't hypnotize you," Joseph said, then immediately pursed his lips tightly when he saw Cassie's angry eyes, not daring to say more.

Cassie closed her eyes. Although she wanted to slap Joseph, she had to admit he was right. "I didn't mean to be deceived by him. It was because David took that knife for me back then."

At that time, David had even lost a kidney for her, and he moved her.

She thought no man had ever sacrificed so much for her, not even Joseph.

"Do you really think someone as insidious, selfish, and shameless as David would lose a kidney for you?" Joseph asked.

Cassie was stunned. She thought of David's combat skills, which were similar to hers. Over the years, she had endured countless hardships to achieve her skills. Could David still be so capable with one less kidney?

Joseph speculated. "Maybe he bribed the doctor to fool you just to gain your sympathy. If you hadn't heard he lost a kidney, would you have agreed to get engaged to him?"

Cassie was momentarily speechless. She realized she couldn't figure out many things anymore.

"What do you plan to do now?" Joseph asked, "Do you want to release the video of David's affair?"

Cassie weakly pulled her lip. "David knows I have evidence of his affair. He dared to go to the reporters and say those things because he thought I wouldn't dare to release the evidence. He believes I only use it to threaten him into a divorce."

"I'll support you no matter what you choose." Joseph gently hugged her, lowering his eyes. "If you want to use that evidence to threaten him into a divorce, I'll show the medical report from the police station that says I was injured in my private parts. David claims I have an improper relationship with you, but how could I have a relationship with you if I'm impotent?"

Cassie looked at him sympathetically.. "Aren't you afraid of being laughed at?"

"I dared to talk about seeing a urologist before, so why not this?" Joseph said calmly, then suddenly lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "I don't care what others say. I only care about you."

Cassie blinked her long eyelashes and teased. "Actually, I care a lot that you are impotent."
