Chapter 1314 He is Chasing After Marigold

Joseph had just dropped the kids off at school and was barely out of the parking lot when his phone buzzed. Marigold's name flashed on the screen. His eyes went cold, but he still hit the answer button.

Later that afternoon.

Cassie was feeling kinda bored after dinner. She used to be swamped with taking care of the kids, running the Peace Group, and dating. Now, with all that on pause, she had way too much free time.

She was just thinking about hitting up Laura for a shopping trip when her phone rang. "Cassie, where you at?" Laura's voice came through.

"At the estate," Cassie replied.

"Where's Joseph?" Laura sounded all urgent.

"He went out this morning. Probably running some errands." Cassie grabbed a pear from the table and took a bite.

Laura's voice was furious. "Do you know what he's up to?"

Cassie frowned but stayed quiet.

"He's playing golf with that bitch Marigold, okay? I was at a party and joined this chat group. Someone posted a pic of Marigold and Joseph on the golf course. I'll send it to you."

Cassie's phone dinged, and she opened the photo. There was Marigold in a white sporty dress, looking all sexy. Joseph was behind her, holding her hands on the golf club, looking like he was hugging her from behind. The sunlight made them look all cozy and intimate.

Cassie just stared at the photo, feeling like her heart was being crushed—painful and suffocating.

Laura was still ranting. "Fuck, I've never seen such an ungrateful jerk. Has he forgotten who took care of him when he was a mess? It was you. You're his girlfriend. You even had a kid with him. You busted your ass for the Hernandez family, and now he's out there with this shameless Marigold after losing his memory."

"Laura, I made it clear to him," Cassie said. "He has the right to date other women. He lost his memory, like a blank slate. He can fall in love with someone else again. It's normal. I can't force him to stay with me because of the past. He doesn't remember loving me anymore."

"Fuck," Laura cursed. "Do you know what people in my group are saying? Someone saw Joseph having lunch with Marigold at the mall yesterday, and he even drove her home in the evening. Now the whole wealthy circle of Whisperlyn City is saying Joseph got kicked out of the company and is trying to cozy up to Ms. Dixon. Everyone's laughing at him."

"I just don't get it. Is it worth it? Marigold's bad news. Plus, the Hernandez Group's mess is partly Ralph's doing. The Dixon family is practically the Hernandez family's enemy. How can he be so shameless? How did the old Joseph turn into this?"

Cassie didn't say anything. Her mind was a mess. She knew Joseph would meet new women, but she didn't think it would happen so fast, and definitely not with Marigold.

But Cassie didn't buy that Joseph was cozying up to Marigold just 'cause he was into her. There had to be more to it.

Laura kept going, "I'm telling you, Ralph's a snake, and he doesn't give a damn about the current Joseph."

"Oh, and just a friendly tip, you should really think about moving out of the Hernandez House. With him acting like this, people are gonna laugh at you if you stay."

Laura was genuinely pissed and thought it was totally unfair for Cassie.

"Yeah, Laura, thanks for the heads-up. I was already thinking about moving back to the Chapman family today," Cassie said softly. "Guess I don't need to think twice now."

"Cassie, you deserve better. You've done more than enough for Joseph."

Laura was hoping Cassie would get far away from Joseph so he'd realize what he lost.

"Yeah, I know."

After hanging up, Cassie sat on the sofa for a bit before getting up to pack her stuff. It didn't take long to fill a big suitcase.

As she was lugging it downstairs, Rosalind spotted her and called out, "Cassie, what's with the big suitcase? You moving out?"

She remembered Cassie had only taken a small bag a few days ago. This time, it looked serious.

"Yeah, Rosalind, I've been thinking about it for a while," Cassie smiled. "I didn't leave before 'cause Joseph's condition was unstable. Now that he's better and can start fresh, I'm planning to move back to the Chapman family."

Rosalind got even more anxious, "You can't go. What about Mr. Hernandez? What about the kids?"

"I talked to the kids. They said they can stay with the Chapmans for a few days and then come back here for a bit."

Cassie brushed her hair behind her ear, smiling but with a hint of sadness, "Rosalind, the current Joseph is like a growing baby. He'll have new feelings. It's not right for me to stay here. If I stay too long, people will talk."

Rosalind was really bummed to see her go, "Who would say anything? Everyone here sees you as part of the family."

"But I'm not. Joseph and I don't have those feelings for each other anymore. I'm leaving."

With that, she left, dragging her suitcase without looking back.

Rosalind was super anxious. She had no choice but to call Joseph, "Mr. Hernandez, Ms. Brooks just moved out. She's going back to the Chapman family."

There was a moment of silence on the other end before Joseph spoke coldly, "I know."

"Huh?" Rosalind was stunned by Joseph's indifference.

But Joseph had already hung up before she could say anything else.

She was dumbfounded.

Could it be that Joseph really had no feelings for Ms. Brooks anymore?

Cassie heard the sound of things being smashed inside when she dragged her suitcase to the gate of the Chapman family's villa.

"What does this Joseph mean? He was crazy about my daughter before. But now he wants to ditch her after his amnesia. What does he take my daughter for?"
