Chapter 1391 "Joseph, you're so stingy."

Even a blind dude could tell what was goin' down.

Michael was totally eavesdroppin' at the door, and Joseph was probably in on it too. Lucas, chillin' way back there, was the only one not playin' spy.

Laura thought about the wild convos they just had; bet the guys heard every word.

Laura got mad real quick, not sure if it was 'cause she was embarrassed or just plain pissed.

"Michael!" Laura called out.

"I didn't hear nothin'," Michael shook his head like crazy.

Joseph was speechless; Laura hadn't even asked yet, and Michael was already spillin' the beans.

Cassie grinned, "Michael, you didn't hear anything?"

Michael zipped it.

"Alright, so you were eavesdroppin' on us," Laura snapped, whacking Michael with her tiny fists.

But Laura's punches were more like love taps.

Michael didn't dare dodge, just took it like a champ.

"Cassie, I wasn't eavesdroppin'," Joseph said all innocent, movin' closer to hold Cassie's hand.

"Really?" Cassie smiled, but her words were cold, "I don't believe you."

Joseph was quiet for a sec before sayin', "Actually, I think the condoms I bought last time aren't enough; we don't need to give them away."

Cassie thought about the stash at home and turned red.

"Y'all are liars. You totally heard everything," Cassie said, pinchin' Joseph's waist.

"Joseph, you're so cheap," Michael chimed in, "Watch out, you might wear yourself out in bed one day."

"I won't. Unlike you, you won't even get the chance to be worn out," Joseph shot back.

Michael looked seriously offended, and things got frosty.

"You guys stay here," Cassie said, too embarrassed to keep arguin'. She grabbed her bag and bounced after sayin' bye to Bernice and Laura.

"Baby." Joseph quickly followed her.

"I'm out too. Hit me up sometime," Bernice said, not feelin' Michael and Lucas, and slipped out quietly.

Lucas's eyes flickered, and he waved at Michael, "You guys chat." With that, Lucas dipped too.

Laura frowned, "Is Lucas gonna bug Bernice? What's that about?"

Laura was about to chase after them, but Michael grabbed her arm, "Don't go. Lucas is a big shot in the entertainment biz. Your brand just launched, and you'll need his companies to get a foothold. It's not smart to piss him off."

"I don't care. My friend matters more than my career," Laura huffed, "Besides, you're my husband. Aren't you supposed to help me?"

"I can only ask Lucas to help you. Even if you go to my parents or my uncle, they can't do anything," Michael explained, lookin' helpless. "The Nelson Family's got their hands in so many pies—medical, entertainment, you name it. They're untouchable. Earlier this year, a listed company pissed off Lucas. With just one word from him, no media dared to run that company's ads. Now that company's pretty much toast."

Laura went quiet.

Compared to someone like Lucas, she was still a lightweight. Bernice, who worked in the entertainment biz, would be in deep trouble if she ticked off Lucas.

Laura was kinda worried for Bernice.

"Sweetheart," Michael suddenly hooked her pinky, giving her a look, and whispered, "Think we should give it a shot?"

"Give what a shot? Get lost, I got work to do," Laura pretended not to get it, her heart racing as she headed to her office.

Michael shut the door and came closer, holding her hand, "You know what I mean. Look, Cassie’s your friend, and she’s into it, so it must be good."

"Maybe it’s 'cause Joseph’s good at it. You might not be as good as him," Laura said, flustered, cutting him off.

Michael got ticked, "Laura, saying that questions my skills in bed. That’s a major diss to a guy. If I don’t prove myself tonight, how can I call myself a man?"

Seeing his serious face, Laura felt a bit panicked.

Alright, maybe she pushed him too far, "You got me wrong."

Michael cut her off, "How do you know Joseph was good from the start? He’s been with Cassie for ages and got better over time. But me? You never gave me a shot. Poor me, over thirty and still a virgin."

Michael started off trying to get some sympathy, but as he talked, he genuinely felt bummed, "I got a wife but no right to touch her. As a man, I’m a total failure."

Laura listened to his sad tone, speechless, "If you haven’t had sex, where did Maeve come from?"

"Laura, my first time was when I was drunk and barely remember it. How’s that different from not having sex?" Michael pouted, "You don’t know, but Lucas and Joseph always rag on me for this."

"Then don’t tell them," Laura snapped, "Do you have to blab about our private life everywhere?"

"Do I need to? People can tell just by looking at me," Michael pointed to his handsome face, "You see, it says 'a man not satisfied by sex' on it."

Laura glared at him, feeling a bit annoyed. She wasn’t against hooking up with Michael; she just wasn’t mentally ready yet.

And she was shy. Besides, stuff like this didn’t need to be spelled out. When the moment was right, she wouldn’t push him away.

But Michael was too clueless about women’s thoughts.

When they were alone, as soon as she shyly said "no," he’d stop immediately.

Such a guy was too unassertive.

"Forget it. Get lost. I need to call the factory. Today’s stock is sold out, and I need to tell them to speed up production. I also have a meeting later," Laura said, not looking at him, and picked up her phone to call her team.

Michael sighed in disappointment and didn’t dare to bug her, "I’ll go for a walk. Call me when you’re done, and I’ll pick you up."

"Isn’t your company busy today?" Laura asked, puzzled.
