Chapter 1654 Publicizing the Relationship
Derek said calmly, "If you don't want to, then forget it. Besides, Laura might not even agree to go public with our relationship. After all, Mom had a talk with her today, and she's really good at this. She almost made Laura change her mind, and we nearly broke up."
Carl looked at Violet suspiciously, surprised at how capable she was.
Unfortunately, Michael jumped in and ruined everything.
Carl was troubled. "Let me think about this."
"Don't think about it," Violet said calmly. "Derek, go ahead and do it. After this, I don't want to see Michael in the country anymore, and don't give him any chances."
Carl was shocked.
"Carl, Michael isn't a complete fool. If he were, how could he have built the Ocean Blue group? He hates Derek and Laura, and there's a 90% chance he'll turn against us. Whether he betrays us or not, we need to get rid of him first."
Violet said expressionlessly, "You used to think about sending him abroad to start over, but that's not an option anymore. Just make sure he becomes a useless person who won't starve to death."
Carl frowned and sighed, "My brother and the others will definitely..."
"Michael has already turned bad. We can't let him continue like this. Besides, he's even started hitting women. Who knows, he might end up killing Laura if she's alone one day."
Violet made a decisive decision, "Derek, don't go to Laura now. Discuss with the team and go public before 11 PM tonight. Laura is hesitant, and if you wait for her agreement and try to persuade her, it might drag on until tomorrow. If I were Rolf and the others, I wouldn't give us a chance until tomorrow."
This time, Derek was stunned. After a moment, he stammered, "If I don't get Laura's consent, she'll definitely be very angry."
Violet glanced at Derek helplessly. He was usually smart, but when it came to relationships, he wasn't.
"She's reasonable. She'll understand. Mom, I'll go now."
After Derek left, Carl said helplessly, "It looks like you support our son being with Laura now."
"I didn't support it at first, but now there's no choice," Violet shook her head. "Besides, they're just dating for now. Whether they get married is still uncertain. We should worry less. They might break up on their own."
Carl was speechless for a moment. "What if they get married?"
"Then they get married," Violet glanced at Carl. "I was concerned before because I was afraid they'd insist on being together and cause trouble. Now that they're planning to go public. If they can last, there are only two possibilities: either the outside world supports them, or their love is so deep that they don't care about societal views. If that's the case, why should I interfere?"
Carl was silent.
It made so much sense that he couldn't argue.
At 10 PM
As Laura was getting ready for bed, Rose approached her. "Your hand is injured. How about I take Maeve tonight?"
"You don't sleep well, and Maeve will disturb you. It's just a minor injury." Laura placed Maeve on the bed.
Maeve immediately started crawling happily on the bed.
Seeing Maeve's carefree demeanor, Rose sighed, thinking of the child's father. "By the way, your hand is injured. Why hasn't Derek come to see you? Did he call to check on you?"
Talking about this made Laura feel uncomfortable.
It was just a minor injury, but in the past, Derek would have come over no matter how busy he was. Today, he hadn't even called.
He knew she was hurt; the bodyguards must have told him.
Why hadn't he checked on her?
Was he still mad about this morning?
It was understandable if he was angry about her weakness this morning.
"He sent me a message on Facebook," Laura said vaguely. "Mom, you should go to bed."
"You should call him. A Facebook message isn't as caring," Rose muttered. " I didn't think things through when you were with Benjamin and Michael. This time, I have to be strict with your date. I can't let you be deceived by a man again."
Laura was speechless. Was she that naive?
Although she had encountered bad men several times.
But it wasn't her fault; there were just too many bad men.
After finally sending Rose away, Laura lay down with Maeve.
But Maeve wasn't ready to sleep easily. It took a long time to get her to sleep, and just as Maeve was dozing off in her arms, someone in her friend group tagged her.
She didn't dare check, afraid that moving would wake Maeve.
She had no idea what Cassie and Bernice were talking about, but the Facebook group kept buzzing.
Once Maeve was finally sound asleep, Laura gently placed her on the bed and picked up her phone.
Cassie: [Wow, you went public with Derek without a word. You scared me.]
Bernice: [In just a short time, it's already at the top of the trending list. I bet journalists from all industries will be working overtime tonight.]
Cassie: [Not just journalists, even Lanny McCaffrey from the PR department called me. I'll have to stay up all night to handle this.]
Bernice: [Do you need to borrow my PR team?]
Cassie: [Let's wait and see. It's not clear if this is good or bad yet.]
Bernice: [Where's Laura? Why isn't she here?]
Cassie: [No idea where Laura went. She's probably taking care of the baby.]
Bernice: [Laura is still in the mood to take care of the baby at a time like this. Impressive.]
Laura, the heroine, was silent and very confused.
What had she done? What public announcement? What trending list?
She had a bad feeling.
She trembled as she opened a trending platform: #President's Son Goes Public with Relationship; #President's Son and Laura Dating? #We Are in Love.
Seeing the top three headlines, Laura felt like she was going to faint.
She was just an ordinary person, yet she had been on the trending list several times. This feeling made Laura inexplicably panic.
She clicked in and saw that twenty minutes ago, the President's son had posted a photo of them showing affection.
Where was it?
She searched and searched, and finally found Derek's WhatsApp post. She hadn't had time to read the long text because the photo of them showing affection was too eye-catching.
It was taken the day Megan went to jail. They had gone to celebrate on a yacht, and she and Derek had taken a photo on the deck. The picture showed her in his arms, smiling sweetly in the sunlight.
