Chapter 1228 Why Did She Hate Him So Much?
Bernice's lips were so thin and clean, but now they were bleeding 'cause she bit 'em too hard. The pain was making her head spin like crazy.
The taste of blood in her mouth was making her wanna puke.
She was seriously grossed out.
Who knows how many chicks Lucas had kissed with those lips?
And she couldn't forget how nasty he was when he sent her to prison.
All those old and new grudges just hit her like a ton of bricks.
Bernice didn't know where she got the strength, but she chomped down hard on Lucas's lips.
Unlike Lucas, it was a savage, wolf-like bite.
Even a tough guy like Lucas, who wasn't scared of pain, felt like a wolf was tearing into him. He even thought Bernice might bite his lips clean off any second.
If he had any lingering feelings before and wanted to savor the moment, now he was totally stunned.
It was like seeing Bernice for the first time; her eyes were so cold and full of hatred, just like the last time he saw Nina in court.
Back then, when the cops took her away, she looked back at him just like that.
His momentary distraction left his neck scratched and wounded.
He snapped back to reality, realizing that Bernice's ferocity was as if she wanted to kill him.
He pushed her away, but Bernice clung to his neck like a madwoman, throwing her whole body at him and biting his lips hard.
"Bernice... you got a death wish?" Lucas, losing it in his anger, shoved Bernice away hard. Her body hit the nightstand, right where her wound was, causing intense pain.
Bernice couldn't hold on any longer and passed out.
Lucas came to his senses, looking at the unconscious Bernice and the bloodstains on the bed, feeling nothing but absurdity and coldness.
He never thought a woman would resist him so fiercely, and treating him like a beast was a whole new level.
He couldn't forget the hatred in Bernice's eyes.
Why did she hate him so much?
He had just forced a kiss on her, but wasn't it her who provoked him? If she dared to do it, she should bear the consequences.
But now, she had fainted.
Not pretending like before, but really fainted, with blood seeping from her back.
Her wound had been healing well, and she could've been discharged tomorrow, but now it had reopened because of this struggle.
"Someone, get over here." Lucas picked up Bernice from the bed and rushed to the emergency room.
The nurse on duty at the door was shocked to see Lucas with blood on his lips. At the hospital, Lucas was always in a white coat, looking all elegant and handsome, with an extraordinary status, but he never put on airs with the nurses.
But tonight, he was rushing into the emergency room with a woman in his arms.
After placing Bernice on the operating table, Lucas cut her clothes with scissors.
The doctor on duty came over and said, "Mr. Nelson, you're hurt. Let me handle this, and you should get some treatment."
Recently, there had been rumors in the hospital that Lucas was taking special care of the famous actress Bernice, even lowering his status to be her attending physician.
Although Lucas was about to get married, wasn't it common for people in high society to have such hobbies? Everyone just kept it to themselves.
No one saw it coming that he'd make her pass out.
Looking at the wound on Lucas's lips and the blood on Bernice's mouth, it was pretty obvious what went down.
"No need. You can leave," Lucas said, instinctively shielding Bernice's body. He didn't want any other guy seeing her like that.
Even though the other person was a doctor, he just couldn't help it.
The doctor on duty sighed and left.
After Lucas stitched up Bernice's wound, she still hadn't woken up, but it was clear she was uncomfortable. Her brows were all furrowed.
Her features were actually really delicate and clean, but the hatred on her face caught Lucas off guard.
After having the nurse take Bernice back to her room, he went back to his office.
He sat in his chair and lit a cigarette, the smoke mixing with the blood on his lips—whether it was his or Bernice's, he couldn't tell.
He didn't know how long he'd been sitting there when Pablo Navarro, his buddy, walked in with some medicine. "Dude, you're all messed up and still smoking?"
Lucas didn't say anything.
Pablo had to push him, "I heard from the doc on duty that your lip injury is pretty deep. If you don't treat it, it'll get infected."
Lucas touched his lips and winced; the bite was really deep.
"Go ahead," he said, leaning back in his leather chair.
Pablo spent five or six minutes applying the medicine and then said, "She's pretty tough. I advise you to let it go; don't risk your life."
"Do I look like someone who a woman can easily manipulate?" Lucas sneered.
"The injury isn't just from a lover's quarrel. Maybe you can have her for now, but can you really feel safe with someone like that around? Who knows if she'll kill you someday," Pablo reminded him.
Lucas fell silent.
"I'm out. Let me know when she wakes up." Lucas got up, took off his white coat, and left.
When he left the hospital, he felt a bit gloomy. He had to admit that Pablo was right.
He couldn't understand how things had gotten so bad between him and Bernice, like they were enemies.
In the end, it all started with Sarah.
Sarah!
Lucas let out a cold laugh and drove to Sarah's villa.
He had given her the villa, but it was his first time visiting.
When he arrived, the guard saw him and immediately opened the gate.
Lucas got out of the car and walked straight in.
Sarah hadn't gone to bed yet. Seeing him, she quickly changed into a sexy nightgown and came downstairs. "Lucas, why are you here... what happened to you?"
Seeing his lips, Sarah immediately thought he had been bitten.
But who would dare to bite him?
Could it be Bernice?
Bernice's image flashed in her mind, but she didn't dare say it out loud; she only felt a deep hatred.
"Let me ask you, did you tell Maya and Bruce Bernice's room number?" Lucas asked coldly.
"Maya and Bruce? Who are they?" Sarah played dumb.
But before she could finish her sentence, Lucas grabbed her by the throat.
She felt like she was about to suffocate.
