Chapter 1325 Are You Everett?

The security guard didn't even get a chance to blink. One second he was standing there, the next he felt a sharp pain at the back of his head and everything went black.

A bunch of young folks strolled out not long after.

"Mr. Powell, we handled everyone inside," one guy said, all serious. "We moved fast, they didn't even get a chance to call for help before we knocked 'em out."

"Nice job."

Joel gave him a nod of approval. Who would've thought even the waiters in this club knew some serious moves? Good thing they disguised themselves as a bunch of singing kids, made everyone inside drop their guard.

"This club's definitely shady, but it's huge. We gotta find that hidden passage before dawn, or we're screwed. Grab the manager on duty and make him spill. Do whatever it takes."

"Got it."

A few Dragon members dragged a manager into a private room. Joel stood outside, listening to the guy's screams. Soon, one of his guys came out. "Mr. Powell, we got it. There's a secret passage in the basement warehouse."

Joel led his team to the warehouse. The place was a mess, filled with booze, snacks, and old furniture covered in dust.

One of his guys said, "Good thing we made him talk. Who would've guessed this place?"

"Yeah." Joel had to give it to David for being so sneaky. The place looked like no one ever came here, but there was a secret passage.

She found a dial in the bottom drawer of a cabinet. After turning it, the cabinet slid aside, revealing a thick door. She pushed it open, revealing a dark tunnel.

Using her phone as a flashlight, she walked down the tunnel for about thirty feet until she saw a dim light. She crept in and found a small cellar, about the size of a one-car garage, with a steel cage inside. A man with messy hair and a nasty smell was locked up. Two of his fingers were broken, and his arms were chained up.

Joel was shocked. David was a real piece of work. Even Dragon never went this far. Any normal person would've lost it from this kind of torture. She nervously shone the light on the guy's face, "Are you Everett?"

The chains rattled, and the guy struggled to lift his head. Under his messy hair, a pair of deep blue eyes showed confusion, then sharp clarity.

"Who are you?" he asked weakly, squinting at the woman in front of him, all dressed in leather and heavy makeup. He'd been locked up for so long, he'd never seen anyone like her.

Joel felt a wave of relief. Thank God he hadn't lost his mind. That would've been a real problem. "I'm Joel Powell. Mr. Hernandez sent me to get you out."

"Mr. Hernandez." A look of surprise flashed in Everett's deep blue eyes.

He'd been living in hell these past days. He thought Declan or Isabella would send someone to rescue him, but he never expected it to be Joseph. He never really liked Joseph.

"You're in bad shape. Let's get you outta here," Joel said, whipping out a piece of wire and unlocking all the locks on the cage and Everett's hands.

"Didn't think you were a lock-picking pro," Everett chuckled weakly.

"You can still joke?" Joel was kinda speechless. Most folks would've lost it by now.

"Should I cry? Men don't cry," Everett's dry, cracked lips managed a faint smile, and he looked like he was about to pass out. Joel shook him hard.

"Don't you dare pass out now. We gotta get to Whisperlyn City ASAP. Your mom's losing it. She's helping David and Robert against Ms. Brooks and Mr. Hernandez. David's power is growing, and he's planning to hit Mr. Jude's family tonight. If Mr. Jude gets taken, Ms. Brooks is toast. She's your sister, man."

"No way!" Everett was shocked, barely holding on. "How could my mom..."

"Your mom's been brainwashed by Robert. You gotta stop her. You're our only shot."

Joel quickly got him onto a stretcher. Before dawn, Everett was on a private jet.

In Whisperlyn City.

In the presidential suite of a five-star hotel, a waiter brought in a tray of fancy breakfast. Isabella sat in a chair, staring at the food with zero appetite.

"Isabella, Ralph's birthday invite just came in. You wanna go?" Robert placed an invitation in front of her.

Isabella glanced at it and snapped, "I'm not going."

"Ralph's got a lot of pull in Madison now. If you don't wanna go, I'll go for you," Robert said with a bitter smile. "The company needs these connections to grow."

"Then you go. I never planned to run the company anyway," Isabella said dismissively. "You should head to the office. Don't hang around here with me."

"I'm just worried you won't eat breakfast. Look how thin you've gotten. I need to see you eat before I leave," Robert said, looking concerned.

Isabella felt a bit warmer. With her son missing and her husband betraying her, it seemed like her brother and sister-in-law were the only ones who cared.

She forced herself to eat a few bites before convincing Robert to leave. Just as she was about to rest, the doorbell rang.

Her assistant opened the door and awkwardly said, "Ma'am, Declan is here."

Isabella's face changed, and she stood up abruptly, but her head spun.

"Isabella! Be careful!" Declan rushed forward to support her but was stopped by the bodyguards.

"Declan, you dare show up here," Isabella steadied herself and glared at him coldly. "Fine. Don't expect to leave in one piece now that you're here."

Declan felt a sharp pain seeing the hatred in her eyes. "Alright, can we close the door first? I got something important to tell you. You don't want the whole hotel to know, do you?"

Isabella hesitated, and then the bodyguard who came with Declan suddenly closed the suite door.

Next, the bodyguard took off his wig, revealing a thin, pale face. "Mom, it's me."

"Everett?!"
