"Joseph pinched her cheek playfully, ""Behave, I'm counting on you to take over Peace Group and support me.""
His magnetic voice left Cassie too flustered to respond.
Joe watched the exchange with an odd look in her eye.
After Joseph left for work, Cassie asked with a smile, ""Did you know Joey before?""
The mention of ""Joey"" prompted a subtle twitch at the corner of Joe's mouth. She answered with respect, ""Yes.""
Cassie, curious, pressed further. ""Then, you must know if he's had any girlfriends before, how many?""
""You should ask Mr. Hernandez about that,"" Joe deftly redirected the inquiry back to her.
Cassie was frustrated; the bodyguard's lips were sealed tight.
She put aside all else to focus on her goal: taking the helm of Peace Group.

The Brooks family was on the verge of success.
Robert ended a call with a shareholder, beaming with joy, ""Looks like Edward has finally agreed to back me up. The chairman's seat is as good as mine tomorrow.""
""Congratulations,"" Helen said, her smile betraying a deep satisfaction, particularly after the recent news that Robert was Peace Group’s major shareholder spread like wildfire. The high society ladies who once looked down on her were now clamoring for her attention. ""Once you're chairman and Olivia marries Andrew, we'll be the top family in Madison.""
""Exactly. I used to look up to families like the Collinses and the Andersons. Soon, we'll surpass them and become the most prominent family in town,"" Robert said, unable to contain his laughter as he reveled in his upcoming success.
Olivia Brooks also allowed herself a smile. ""Dad, did we finally handle Mrs. Parker? She’s a loose end that could cause trouble.""
""Yes, that old lady knows too much,"" Helen chimed in anxiously.
""What does it matter when I hold all the cards?” Robert scoffed, dismissing any threats with a wave of his hand. ""Cassie is just a minor annoyance. And as for Joseph, he might not even have much time left.""
""Dad, Brandon Wright has arrived in Madison,"" Olivia shared with a sinister grin. ""Ever since his sister’s death, he’s been obsessed with taking down Joseph. It’s like he lives solely for revenge.""
""Well done,"" Robert said, looking at her with paternal pride. ""You truly are my daughter.""
Olivia could hardly contain her excitement. Tomorrow, she would be Madison's leading lady, no longer beholden to anyone's whims.

The next day at nine o'clock, the much-anticipated annual shareholders' meeting was about to convene.
Robert entered the hall confidently with Olivia at his side, greeted by a throng of people eager to shake his hand.
""Mr. Brooks, an early congrats! With Edward stepping down, the chairman position is surely yours,"" they said.
""Oh, I've only just joined Peace Group. I'm still getting acquainted with all the details,"" replied Robert, feigning humility amidst his barely concealed pride.
""Why be so explicit? That's what we pay our high-flying execs for,"" Mr. Gabriel said with a bit of brown-nosing. ""The future of the company is in Mr. Brooke's hands.""
""Absolutely, Mr. Brooks. The Draven clan is counting on your support within the Peace Group,"" chimed in Vincent.
""No problem,"" Robert replied, unable to contain his smirk any longer, he burst into hearty laughter."
